Chapter 10

As Billy's home came into view, Raizel turned to the elder near him and instructed, "Gather all the young ones between the ages of 14 and 30." The elder, under Raizel's control once more, responded with a bow, acknowledging, "Yes, master," before walking away with his grandson. Left alone, Raizel made his way towards Billy's house, his irritation evident as his shoes sank into the muddy water surrounding the area. Muttering to himself with a slight smirk, he remarked, "Seems I've stumbled into the territory of wet dogs."

Arriving at the front door, Raizel rang the bell, hoping to find someone home despite the absence of Billy's truck. To his surprise, the door opened, revealing Rachel Black standing before him. Rachel was momentarily mesmerized by Raizel's presence and scent, though a sense of danger tugged at her instincts. Unable to tear her gaze away from Raizel, she was taken aback when he greeted her politely.

Raizel, noticing her reaction, asked calmly, "Is Billy home?" Rachel, feeling a bit flustered, admitted shyly that her father wasn't present, which disappointed Raizel slightly. He then inquired if he could wait for Billy inside while he returned.

With a shy smile, Rachel agreed and welcomed Raizel into the house. Raizel followed her silently to the hall, where he waited patiently as Rachel hurried to the kitchen to inform her father about the unexpected guest.

She picked up the phone and dialed Billy's number. After a few rings, Billy answered with a simple "Hello?"

Upon hearing her father's voice, Rachel immediately spoke up, "Um, Dad, there's someone here to see you."

Billy sounded puzzled as he inquired, "Oh? Who is it?"

Realizing she hadn't even asked for the stranger's name, Rachel felt embarrassed. She stuttered, "It's... well, he didn't give his name, but he's really... uh... striking. He's waiting in the hall right now."

Billy's fatherly instincts kicked in at Rachel's description. "Striking? What do you mean?" he asked, concern evident in his voice.

Trying to downplay her description, Rachel improvised, "I don't know, Dad. He's just... different. I think he might be a foreigner."

Billy's concern grew, and he pressed further. "Is everything okay, Rachel? Can you give your phone to him?" he asked, his worry for his daughter's safety evident.

Reluctantly, knowing her father wouldn't let it go until he was assured of her safety, Rachel conceded. "No, no, it's fine," she assured him, but eventually relented. "Alright, Dad," she said, extending the phone toward Raizel with a shy smile. "Dad is on the call," she informed him.

Taking the phone from Rachel with a polite smile, Raizel greeted Billy calmly. "Hello, Billy," he said evenly.

Billy's tone turned serious as he questioned the unknown visitor. "Who are you?" he asked, a hint of suspicion in his voice.

Raizel's response puzzled Rachel, and she couldn't help but feel uneasy. "You will know when you return home," he replied cryptically, before abruptly ending the call.

Before Rachel could question him further, Raizel's gaze fell upon her, his eyes glowing red. In an instant, she felt her mind clouding, falling under his control without resistance.

------------

As Raizel continued to wait in the hall, a police car followed by a truck hurriedly approached Billy's home. When they arrived, they found the house surrounded by more than forty members of the Quileute tribe, all displaying a vacant, emotionless demeanor.

Charlie and his fellow officers exited the car, ready to intervene, but after a brief pause, they inexplicably got back into their vehicle and drove off, leaving Billy and Jacob bewildered.

Billy couldn't comprehend why his friend would abandon him in such a moment of need, leaving him alone with his son. Jacob, feeling a sense of urgency, ran towards the house, fearing for the safety of his sister.

As Billy stood there, his anxiety reaching new heights, he called out to members of his tribe, but they remained indifferent, ignoring his pleas. Inwardly, he felt a sense of despair wash over him as he realized that none of them would come to his aid.

Then, he noticed his son approaching him, his eyes mirroring the vacant stare of the others. From the back of the truck, Jacob retrieved a wheelchair and helped Billy into it, his own expression devoid of emotion.

Desperate for answers, Billy repeatedly asked Jacob what had happened, screaming his son's name, but Jacob remained silent, under Raizel's control. Billy's frustration boiled over, and he slapped Jacob in a futile attempt to snap him out of it.

Finally, Jacob wheeled Billy towards the hall where Raizel awaited them. As they approached, Raizel glanced at Billy with his red eyes, and Billy knew instinctively that it spelled trouble.

"Hello, Billy," Raizel greeted him calmly.
