Chapter 3: The Completely Ordinary Life of Alex Chaser, Pt. 2

[****]

Alex POV

Location: SavorScape, Musutafu, Japan

Date: March 9, 2214

Time: 9:27 p.m.

I guess this is fine. With a smirk, I admired my uniform. It consisted of a fitted black button-down paired with tailored black trousers, comfortable black slip-resistant shoes, and a sleek black apron.

Alright, let's get started. Putting on my best smile, I walked out of the changing room.

As soon as I stepped into the dining area, I saw that it was busy. There were customers at almost every table, and more were waiting at the entrance. I checked the seating chart and saw that I was assigned to section A, which had six tables.

I grabbed a tray of water glasses and headed to my section. I greeted my first table with a smile and a friendly introduction.

"Hi, welcome to SavorScape. My name is Alex Chaser, and I'll be your waiter today. Can I start you off with some water?" I asked at the first table, a young couple who looked like they were on a date.

"Yes, please. Thank you." The girl said, smiling back at me.

I poured them some water and handed them the menus. "Here you go. We have a special on the grilled salmon, and the chocolate cake is delicious. I'll be back in a few minutes to take your order. Enjoy." I said, and moved on to the next table.

"Hello, how are you today? My name is Alex Chaser, and I'll be your waiter today. Can I get you some water?" I asked at the second table, a family of four with two kids.

"We're good, thanks. Yes, water would be great." The dad said, nodding at me.

I poured them some water and handed them the menus. "Here you go. We have a kids menu as well, with some fun options for the little ones. I'll be back in a few minutes to take your order. Have fun." I said, and moved on to the next table.

I repeated this process for each table, making sure to check on them regularly. I refilled their drinks, brought them their food, and cleared their plates once they were done.

"Hey, can you hurry up with our food? We've been waiting for ages." A woman from the fifth table snapped at me, tapping her watch.

"I'm sorry for the delay, ma'am. Your food is almost ready. I'll bring it to you as soon as possible." I apologized with a smile.

You fucking bitch, it's only been about ten minutes. Learn some fucking patience.

"Thank you; this is delicious. You're doing a great job." A man from the fourth table complimented me, giving me a thumbs up.

"Thank you, sir. I'm glad you're enjoying your meal. Is there anything else I can get you?" I smiled toward the man.

I continued to work hard, serving my customers and making sure they were happy. I got along well with most of them and received some nice compliments and tips. I also had some fun conversations with some of them, not that I really cared about their lives as I was just doing my job.

And of course, not every customer was pleasant. Some of them were rude, demanding, or impatient. Some of them complained about the food, the service, or the price. Some of them left no tip, or a very small one, which was really fucking annoying. Some of them even tried to flirt with me, which I denied, even though I would totally hit that if I were back in my old world.

I continued to work until the end of my shift, which was around 2 a.m. I changed out of my uniform to a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a jacket.

"Thanks for the hard work, Chaser; here's your paycheck." My boss handed me an envelope full of yen.

"Thanks boss." Pulling my jacket back slightly, I placed the envelope inside a pocket inside my pocket. "I'll see you on my next shift." I waved as I left the SavorScape.

Alright, tomorrow is Saturday, so I should be able to buy what I need to get started on building what I want.

Alex POV

Location: Takoba Municipal Beach Park, Musutafu, Japan

Date: March 10, 2214

Time: 8:23 A.M.

Alright, let's start by setting up this forge. Since I don't have a press brake to shape the metal by hand.

While I was out last night, I bought a cheap anvil for about 2000 yen and a couple bags of coal for 4000 yen.

After searching around the beach for a little bit, I found a handful of bricks and stacked them up to create a makeshift forge. I then picked up one of the bags of coal and poured some of the coal inside it.

I then reached for my bag and pulled out a box of matches that I lit and threw into the coals.

Reaching into my bag again, I pulled a cordless blow dryer out with a can connected to the end. I then turned it on, placed it near the fire, and then covered the fire.

I spent the next couple of hours hammering the available metal I had, using my ultimate artisan, metalworker, and blacksmith talents to shape the metal.

"Not the best work I could do, but it will be good for now." I admired the bowie knife in my hand as I walked over to the ocean.

I then used my quirk to bring some of the water up and had it wrap around the blade. Walking over to a fridge with a quick flourish, I sliced into it, leaving a deep cut in it.

Good, now I have a decent weapon, though I would prefer a gun, to be honest. But I'm not in America anymore, and I have to deal with Japan's gun laws.

With my main weapon for the foreseeable future, I walked back over to my makeshift forge and threw some more coals inside.

The next step in my plan was to meet up with Giran. I wanted to start modifying my body as soon as possible, but I needed to actually look at my DNA. I don't even know how DNA has changed due to quirks, so I'll need equipment.

As a broker and a well-known one in the underworld, he would have tons of connections, and having him in my corner would be great.

I'll also need to look at Garaki's data to see how he performs his Nomu surgeries as well as how he is able to extract and duplicate quirk factors.

But all that can come later; for now, I need something to eat. Reaching into my bag, I pulled out an egg sandwich that I bit into with gusto. I used all my cooking talents to make them, and I had to say it was worth it. As despite it only being an egg sandwich, it was some of the best food I had ever had.

After finishing that delicious delicacy of a sandwich, I went back to hammering the scrap metal so I could finally start building some stuff.

Alex POV

Location: Naruhata, Tokyo, Japan

Date: March 15, 2214

Time: 10:43 P.M.

She should be around here. I thought as I walked down the alleys of Naruhata, passing by homeless people sleeping, people doing drugs, and even some people having sex. But I ignored them all as I looked at my phone.

I was connected to the cameras in the immediate area after hacking into them. As for why I was here, I was coming for the second-best infiltrator in this world behind me.

Himiko Toga, a broken girl I could easily take advantage of. Her story was quite tragic in itself, and Horikoshi did a good job building her up. Quirks seemingly affected the user's personality somewhat, and due to her quirk transform she was inclined to drink blood.

But once she started to show signs of something being wrong, like showing her parents a dead bird that she drained the blood of her parents and tried to make her suppress those urges.

So for years she had to suppress those urges that came from her quirk, and day after day she probably felt as if the world was constantly out to get her, and she probably felt as if this world was wrong. And in the end, as expected, because bottling your emotions is the safe thing to do, she snapped. As she was dealing with teenage love, her quirk and her confusion of her own existence made her come to the conclusion that to love someone was to become them, and so she killed her crush and drank his blood.

But to be honest, her love wasn't the worst out there, and to be honest, I was pretty confident I could handle the little bloodsucker.

So with a confident smirk, I continued my way down the alleys until the smell of blood filled the air.

Following the scent, I came upon the dead body of a man. Approaching the lifeless figure, I began examining the body sprawled on the cold floor. The torn muscles and exposed sinew spoke of the brutal assault.

Starting with the chest, the pattern of lacerations suggested a calculated intent. The assailant seemed to have targeted vital areas with precision.

Moving to the extremities, I observed defensive wounds on the hands, indicating a struggle. The angularity of the wounds hinted at a specific weapon, likely a knife with a keen edge.

Grabbing the body and ignoring the blood now on my hands, I flipped the body over and began examining the guy's back. There were additional lacerations, suggesting the victim had attempted to escape or perhaps defend himself from behind.

She isn't even being subtle at this point. I felt Toga's presence since I began inspecting the body, as she didn't even bother to hide her bloodlust from me.

So I wasn't even surprised as I felt her jump from behind me, aiming for my neck. Even crouched down, I still had perfect control over my body, so I turned myself to the left, twisting in a full circle, and I was able to finally see Toga.

She was slightly older than she was portrayed in the series, but that's to be expected with her being nineteen and going on to be twenty.

She had a surprised expression on her face as her eyes slowly turned to me. But I have to wonder how she got into this position of falling, as I haven't even touched her yet.

After doing a quick mental analysis, I found out that she tripped over a small pipe.

With a smirk, I grabbed Toga's wrist. "Luck smiles upon me." Twisting her wrist, I made her drop her knife, and I then drove my knee into her back before pushing her to the ground and pinning her with my full body weight.

She released a gasp of pain from under me, and as she turned her head slightly, I could see her eyes full of madness, and the smile wouldn't leave her face.

"Hi, I'm Himiko Toga! Will you let me cut you up? You look really cool, but I think you would look even cooler with your body covered in blood!"

"I think I would look better covered in my enemies blood." I said as I relaxed slightly.

Toga's eyes lit up as she struggled even harder. "Really, you think so?"

"Yeah, it would." I said before releasing a sigh. "Anyway, I came to talk to you specifically, Himiko Toga."

"Oh, you wanted to speak to little old me?"

Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out my phone and pulled up the picture of her parents. "These are your parents, right?"

Immediately, her face flashed with anger as her bloodlust skyrocketed.

Damn, that's impressive for her age to refine her bloodlust this much.

"Judging by your reaction, I have this right. Now I ask you, are you tired of this world, Himiko?"

"What… are you talking about?" Toga said in confusion.

"I'm asking, are you tired of a world that rejects you? Are you tired of never being understood?" I asked the girl below me. "

Her eyes widened like saucers, and a single word escaped her lips. "Yes."

"That's what I thought. It must have been so hard for all those years as you were forced to suppress your urges. To have to deny a part of yourself. But I understand you completely, Toga Himiko. I understand your twisted mind better than anyone else in this world. And that's why I came to you. Because I want to make this world better. So that people like you can live how you want. So, will you help me, Toga? To fulfill my dream, my ideal."

Letting go of her wrist, I stood up and stepped back away from Toga. "I'm not asking for an answer right now. Think about it fully and thoroughly before making the decision. And when you do come to this address," Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out a folded piece of paper and threw it toward Toga, who continued to look at me with wide eyes.

I gave her a wicked smile and winked at her. "I hope you come to the right conclusion soon, Toga. I can't wait to see you again." I said as I walked away, leaving her with a shocked expression on her face.
