Final Selection 1

-Blake-

We just arrived at the place where the final selection was going to be held, as we arrived there were a lot of people already, they were all demon slayers in training, and this is the place where they would become full-fledged demon slayers.

I noticed that most people here are a bit younger than us, and some were older at least 20.

But then again I'm 19 years older than most people here, because of our different looks almost all demon slayers in training were looking at us with either curiosity or disgust.

Even though the final selection hadn't started. I already have a list of people that I don't want to save, these people are racist sheesh, they already discriminated against us westerners.

Welp if you need help, we won't help you, it's your fault for being a racist.

Despite the other half giving us a mean look, it didn't stop me from wandering ol little eyes around, after scanning the crowd I thought, 'As expected…no one else has the same mark as us, anyway I already expect this.'

I was a bit disappointed really because if someone had a mark like us in the final selection, they might be the system user that they were looking for, after all for the past centuries no one has managed to get some, well except for us.

The training did enhance my hearing a bit, so I could literally hear any whispers around.

"Hey Manko-chan, isn't that blonde foreigner hot?"

"Indeed, but that black foreigner is my kind of man."

Hearing that wasn't surprising at all, Jaune got the looks, as for me mine improved significantly due to the training. I could proudly boast I'm handsome, but that would make me narcissistic.

Though, that girl's name is shocking to me, who the fuck would name their daughter Manko-chan? (A/N: Pussy!)

However named her that, must've been high or just a pervert.

I tried to ignore that, then Jaune approached me and whispered, "Is it just me or are these people giving us weird looks?"

"They are giving us weird looks, you're not imagining it," I replied while crossing my arms.

"Why are they looking at us like that?" Jaune couldn't understand why half of these people were looking at them like they were some sort of animal.

I looked straight at Jaune's eyes and sigh, "Jaune, I don't blame you for not understanding. However, half of these people don't like us being here from your world point of view, we are like Faunus and these people are racist."

As if a light bulb appeared above Jaune, he hit his left palm with his right hand and said, "That makes sense!"

"Indeed, so don't mind them too much."

"Alright! Never treated like a Faunus before and this is certainly a unique experience and a valuable one at that with this I could understand the discrimination of the Faunus kind!" Jaune smiled as if being in a situation like this is a good thing.

I was speechless, honestly, I didn't think he would say something 'smart' for once, what he said made sense, but still, he thought of this situation positively and thought of this as a valuable experience?

I shook my head with a wry smile, and replied, "Whatever you think dude, maybe after this you should try going for Blake rather than Weiss."

Jaune looks at me in shock as if he can't believe what he just heard, "Blake! I didn't know you were gay! I mean I don't mean to judge but….my heart already belongs to Weiss!"

I stared at him blankly and as my face twitched, "Jaune you know who I mean, don't be an idiot."

Then Jaune smiled sheepishly, "I'm just trying to make a joke okay?"

"Yeah, but at least make a joke that's funny and doesn't involve someone's sexuality! And for your information. I'm straight." I stated.

"Me too, but mind asking what's your type of girl?" Jaune asked curiously.

I thought for a moment before saying, "Honestly, It doesn't matter to me. I just want a girl who is loyal and won't cheat on me."

Even though there are 2 beautiful women in our group, the reason why I didn't put any effort in trying to make an impression on them is that I wasn't fully healed from my previous relationship. I'm afraid to try falling in love because maybe, just maybe they'd cheat on me as my ex did.

That incident left a huge scar on my heart. I really loved her before but she chose to betray it, so it was lost of all that love from before vanished like an air.

But maybe, in the future, I'll be ready for another relationship, but for now, I'll do anything I want aside from romance.

Though I'd be up for a one-night stand, pleasure and love are different after all, as a man I too had my needs.

There is no reason to refuse some physical pleasure, but there shouldn't be love involved because it's going to be a problem, at least for me.

"Anyway, right now I'm not interested in dating someone." I smiled bitterly.

"Why so?"

"Someday I'll let you know but for now, no I'm not telling."

Jaune was a bit disappointed, regardless it was his turn to say what type of girl that he wants, "As for me my type of girl is-"

Before he could continue, I cut him off and said. "A girl with white hair, sky blue eyes has pale skin and is nicknamed Snow Angel."

I looked at his stunned expression. I couldn't help but smirk at his reaction. "So was I right?"

Recovering from my words earlier, Jaune scratches his cheeks with an awkward smile, "Ha..ha...I'm I really that predictable?"

"Well, not really just got lucky."

"Now, that's just lying." Jaune gave me a stink eye.

"But I wasn't." Technically It wasn't a lie, that I got lucky guessing his type. I mean I could be wrong but I was right.

"Forget it, this is pointless."

"But you started it." I rolled my eyes at him like he had the right to say it.

Before Jaune could reply, suddenly the person who is responsible for the final selection arrived.

It was a woman with pale skin and large, lavender eyes, and short eyebrows. She wears her white-colored right-swept hair in a short ponytail with two strands of hair let loose at the front.

She also wears a pink kimono with an ombre to orange at the top with flower patterns and a black kimono jacket with numerous blue butterfly patterns.

Seeing her, I immediately recognize who she was, "Ubuyashiki Amane…Kagaya's wife so she's responsible for the final selection this year, why I am not surprised."

"So that's the examiner? Totally different from what I've imagined…" Jaune said in a slightly surprised tone.

"What kind of examiner did you imagine?" I asked him amused.

"A bald guy with a scar on his face and is a 7th foot giant," Jaune said seriously.

"Okay, that's a bright imagination you got there." I chuckled at his words, though there is a person that is almost the same as his description of the examiner, there was that one guy, not bald, but blind, he was currently the rock pillar I think?

"Well sorry, it's not like I expected a woman to be our examiner." Jaune shrugs.

"Well, too bad for you I did." After that everyone's attention was on Amane, as she started.

"All of you thank you for coming for the final selection."

And she talks for a bit, then explains how to pass the final selection and be a fully-fledged demon slayer. The rules were simple: survive for 7 days in the forest filled with demons and come back to this place alive. That's how to pass the final selection.

To me and Jaune, this is a pretty simple task because we are confident of surviving for a week by ourselves, though we couldn't say the same to the other participants of the final selection.

They were having a hard time, all of their faces were tense, unlike us who are vastly calm compared to them.

Then Amane said, "If you're having second thoughts you should leave now."

Amane gave them the option to leave because she knows that many of them would surely die, however despite her words no one left, it's because if they do all of the months, maybe a year of training would have been for nothing, so no one left, this was the matter of dignity for them, would you leave like a coward? Or die trying?

It was honestly admirable.

"So all of you made the choice, now please go inside the forest, and may the gods bless you." With one final bow, everyone went inside the forest.

The first day of Final Selection begins.

(End-)
