Start of the competition

Two days after his birthday party, the day of the maths competition was finally at hand. Reaching school, he could see his two friends already present.

Dragging his leg across the floor, he manage to walk towards his seat. Ever since waking up this morning, his body wasn't the same as his temperature was spiking up.

"Kiran, why do you look so pale and sluggish?" Asked Mikey as he saw the way he was dragging his legs on the floor.

Seating on his seat, he use his bag to cover his ears so as to prevent the noise from getting to him. His sense of hearing feel so different as he could hear almost everything happening in the class.

He would have stay at home today, but knowing that the maths competition was today, he force himself to come to school as he told his mom he was fine.

Caleb on touching the fore head of Kiran, he quickly withdrew his hand because of the hotness which caught him off guard.

"You are boiling dude, are you sure you are okay, if you can't go to the maths competition today, then tell mr Andrew, I'm sure he will understand, and beside there are lot of people in the school" said Caleb.

"I'm good Caleb, it sometimes happened to me once in a month, it's no big deal, I just have to bear it through it for today, then I would be fine" said Kiran still holding his ears.

"Is it a type of sickness, wait!, Is it why you always miss school sometimes?" Asked Mikey.

"Yeah, but I'm okay" replied Kiran.

Walking into the class, Mr Andrew gestures for Kiran and Lydia to follow him as the maths competition would start at 10:00, so they would have to leave now if they were to make it in time.

"I'm sure we would be watching this competition this time also, make sure not to faint okay, if you see you can no longer handle it, then fail on purpose so you can leave" said Caleb to Kiran as he stood up to take his leave.

"Wish you all the best dude, know you have people in here cheering for you, so better don't fall your hand" said Mikey as he gave him a light pat on his shoulder.

Today was one of the best days in school for some people as they wouldn't be any lesson untill the maths competition come to an end as they would all be watching it in school.

Walking out of the class, Lydia and Kiran both walked into mr Andrew car so they could leave for the competition.

"Are you okay?" Asked Lydia as he could see Kiran breathing heavily with sweat all over his face.

Being their two sitting on the back seat, it wasn't hard for her to tell as she was just some inches away from him.

"I'm fine" was the short reply from Kiran as he rest his head close to the window.

Usually some candidates would like to continue studying with the few hours left so as to refresh their brain, while others would like to keep calm so they won't forget what they have study.

So seeing as both of his students weren't studying or panicking to go through the textbooks made mr Andrew think they are of the latter category.

Looking through the mirror in front of the car, mr Andrew could see Kiran taking in long breathe with his eyes close.

'Maybe I might be wrong thinking he's calm, is he panicking because of the competition' said mr Andrew to himself. "Kiran, are you alright?" Asked mr Andrew.

"I'm okay sir" replied Kiran without opening his eyes.

"If you want me to pull over, just say it then I will" said mr Andrew.

"Don't worry about me mr Andrew, I'm okay" replied Kiran.

After about an hour and thirty minutes drive, they have finally reach their destination.

Stepping out of the car, they could all see students from different schools who have came to take part in the maths competition.

The total numbers of school taking part in this competition were twenty in numbers, with each sitting on their respective seats.

Walking pass the large numbers of students, they finally reach where they will be sitting. Their place was blue in color, having the logo of Brilliance High school, proclaiming it was for their school and so was the others.

The massive hall was so quiet with almost all the students either studying with the few minutes they have left or resting their head.

Sitting down on his chair, Kiran rest his head on one of the chair in front as there was no table in front of him.

Seeing as one of his students was not as active as he usually was, mr Andrew was beginning to worry as it could cost them the competition if Kiran didn't do well.

"Kiran, are you feeling okay?" Whisper mr Andrew in a low tone.

"I'm okay" replied Kiran as he raise his head a little before resting it again.

'If only I knew something like this was going to happened, I would have bring Maxwell from class B so he can represent him if he can't take part' said mr Andrew inwardly. 'The worst part is that the two parties have to answer the questions differently, if only it wasn't so, then Lydia would have win this on her own'.

'What am I saying, do I really have little to no trust in him all because he's no longer the number one in class' said the teacher inwardly while shaking his head before releasing a loud sigh.

Even with the high numbers of people present in the hall, there was not a single noise as each student focus on what they were here for. Being playful or chatty would only make them lose their goals.

After about fifteen minutes of waiting, the judges of the maths competition started walking in as it was now time to start.
