Wangxian: A Song For You

This is a story of the one who wields the flute and the other who inquires for his soul. When the soul he kept searching for nearly thirteen years was reincarnated, he played the guqin another tone. One that begged the heavens to bring his soul to the same time and world where his beloved was reborn. He played the guqin until his fingers were sore and bloodied, and when his time came, his fingers became skinnier as bones and ashen as a corpse, he played one last song. A song for the one he seeks. A song for the one he yearns for. A song for him. - This is a fanfic story of MDZS in an alternate universe, can't get enough of them so I tried to write this story ;D Enjoy! - Cover isn't mine. Credit to the owners.

"…"

Wei Wuxian laughed awkwardly at his own answer after it registered in his mind. He scratched the back of his head and stood. Then, he patted his butt and knees while grinning foolishly at the beauty in front.

"I gave you my number. So now, you can call me if you want to ask my name. I'm quite shy telling it to you face to face, hehe."

"…"

He picked his bag on the ground and spoke again, feigning ignorance at the reality of being caught by someone who's a hundred percent a school committee member. From his expensive-looking black shoes that looked shinier than the bald head he saw on the way, to his slick and properly styled hair.

Wei Wuxian mustn't get caught! It was his first day of school, and if his Uncle Jang was to be called in already, he would really be disappointed. Not to mention, his aunt whose memory is so sharp that another simple mistake will make her bring the old and forgotten ones and scold him again nonstop.

He lifted his arm and acted surprised before dramatically speaking his next lines, "Oh! Look at the time! I'll be late! I have to go now, handsome brother! Tell me your name when you call me, okay?!"

He dashed in the opposite direction. However, the handsome guy kept following him. When he runs, he will run as well. When he walks, he will walk as well. It was as though Wei Wuxian suddenly became a mother hen imprinted with his chick.

When he entered the building and climbed the stairs, he thought the guy would leave, but as stubborn as he was, the handsome guy remained behind him, tailing him silently. Finally, Wei Wuxian was annoyed.

He wiped the sweat on his forehead and turned around. "Why are you following me?"

"We are here."

The chick finally spoke. Wei Wuxian wondered how many girls had already swooned from that low and deep voice.

He asked in confusion, "What?"

"The Disciplinary Office."

"…what?"

"Please enter. State your name and your year and class section to the teacher inside."

"…wait! I told you I'm late already! I can't be late for my first class!" Wei Wuxian complained and grumbled.

"You're already late."

He glared at the cold and indifferent voice. But his eyes moved on his wrist to check on the time, only to freeze on the spot. His eyes moved from his wrist to his light-colored irises and he chuckled awkwardly.

His awkward and strained chuckle turned into unrestrained laughter. He just imagined how stupid he looked when he checked the time and acted like he was late when he wasn't even wearing a wristwatch in the first place!

The scene was hilarious. Yet judging by the corner of his eyes, the handsome guy wasn't having it. He looked like a psychiatrist who was already done with the world waiting for his patient's bout of madness to calm down, with that notepad and pen he was still holding.

Wei Wuxian imagined it, and another laughter echoed in the hallway. He leaned on the wall next to the door of the Disciplinary Office and curled himself. His stomach kind of hurt from all the laughing maniacally.

He slid down on the floor. His laughter died down.

Surprisingly, the handsome guy quickly approached him and asked, "What happened?"

Wei Wuxian bit his lips and his face winced when he pressed lightly on his stomach. He answered, "M-My…stomach hurts suddenly."

Sweat formed on his forehead and his eyelashes trembled. His hand clenched on his clothes above his stomach and he tried to breathe, but even that seemed difficult to him.

"Hold on to me."

He looked up and saw the handsome guy pocketed the pen and the notepad, then he bent down and swept him off the floor.

"Hey! Wait!"

Wei Wuxian exclaimed. He was startled. But what shocked him most was the guy passed the door of the Disciplinary Office and headed down the hallway.

"Where are we going?" He asked as he casually slung his arms around his neck. He couldn't help but shiver after looking down. The guy was so tall that he thought if he got dropped from his arms, his back would break.

"Infirmary."

"Oh…urgh," he lurched after experiencing a sudden pain in his stomach again. His hand gripped his shoulders and he felt like all his energy was drained from him. He slowly leaned his head on his chest and closed his eyes.

It was lucky that classes had already started and there were no students in the hallway. Being carried princess-style is fun and easier than walking, but for a guy to be seen like that will be embarrassing.

"Stay here. I'll call the school nurse."

Wei Wuxian scanned the room. After the handsome guy put him down on the bed, he went out and called for the nurse. He sat still above the bed, his knees curled up and his arms hugging his stomach.

One minute passed. He waited.

Two minutes, he peeked outside the inner window and when he didn't see the guy coming back, he stretched his arms and legs and laughed.

"He's kind, but he's stupid! Hahahaha!"

Wei Wuxian jumped from the bed and went to the door. He peeked again. But he hesitated to step outside. The hallway is too wide open he will be seen walking out if ever they bump into each other.

He peeked outside and window and thanked the architect who designed the building because the infirmary was actually on the ground floor. He really didn't pay attention when they were walking because he was in the middle of his acting while trying to glimpse at the beauty carrying him.

If that guy was a woman, he would have stolen a kiss on her cheek. The thought dashed in his mind. But of course, there's no way he will let a girl carry him like a princess.

He pushed the window up and slipped out. Then, he carefully pulled down the window again. After ensuring that the coast was clear, he sailed off, whistling on his clever way of escaping, feeling so proud of himself.

Since classes had already started and he was so very late already, he decided to just climb a wide and huge tree he saw at the back of that building. The tree was umbrella-shaped, with its branches spreading widely with luscious leaves.

Wei Wuxian jumped and reached the lowest branch he could reach, and then he pulled himself up until his foot touched the branch. He sat comfortably in a large branch he climbed and used his backpack as a pillow to support his back, then he leaned his head on the body.

As he watched the leaves swayed with the winds and listened to the chirping sounds above him, his eyelids slowly became heavy and at last, he drifted into sleep. He was so deep in slumber that he didn't even hear the sound of the bell, indicating that morning class was over, and lunchtime had come.
