Wu Chen Regains His Confidence

Wu Yi was still in a daze as he watched the supervisor enter the hidden room. The supervisor knelt next to the seated Wu Yi and said something about having made sure to track Ok Man Ma all those years ago when Wu Yi had paid for his freedom.

He had tracked everything the old man had done since then. Supervisor Wu Yi had known that if Wu Yi were ever to escape, he would end up with the old man.

Wu Yi stopped paying attention when he realized his only mistake. He had not cut off his emotional connection to the old man and this was about to get them both killed.

He should have sent the old man far away and cut off all contact. If he had escaped without any emotional entanglement, he would have gone much further than River Jade City. He might have even left the Cloud empire altogether.

When he reached this point in his thought process, Wu Yi became confused.

He has chosen River Jade city since its High Prince was a man of principle and he was a member of a faction that opposed the prime minister.

Supervisor Wu could be considered a member of the prime minister's faction.

Since this was the case, he had thought that Supervisor Wu would not be able to corrupt this city to assert his will.

Wu Yi looked at the superior with confusion.

The supervisor smiled at him with an open mouth and exposed teeth.

"My 'son', remember that there are no eternal enemies, only benefits." said the supervisor.

"Remember...." said Old Man Ma before the supervisor cut off his head in one swift motion.

To add injury to the wound, the supervisor used the Quick slash sword skill that Wu Yi had helped him get from the now-dead sword master.

The old man's head fell to the ground with a silken sound. It then rolled on the floor j til it was in front of Wu Yi. The head had its dead eyes wide open. These eyes looked at Wu Yi as though he was responsible for its detachment.

The supervisor picked up the head and handed it to Wu Yi.

He singlemindedly accepted the head.

Wu Yi could no longer think. The old man's death had completely scattered his psyche.

Supervisor Wu did not stop there, he raised his sword and smiled at Wu Yi with eyes filled with love.

Shaa, shwaa, shwaa, he swung his sword at an incredible speed.

When he was done, Old Man Ma's dead body was nothing but minced meat. The room was covered with blood and Wu Yi himself was now red from head to toe.

He absentmindedly looked at what remained of the only person he loved in this world and his heart skipped a beat once more. This time, he spurt out blood and passed out.

He fell on the red floor. Supervisor Wu Yi smiled.

The supervisor's actions had even made the other soldiers in the room flinch.

These were battle-hardened killers but the supervisor was seemingly in a league of his own when it came to ruthlessness.

The supervisor then set the entire mansion on fire burning everything to the ground.

The servants were not let out of the mansion and as it burned, one could hear screams filled with pain and despair coming from the flames.

That night, the newly built Ma mansion burned to the ground and all its inhabitants were killed by the raging flames that covered the sky.

This is what the officials told the public the following day.

Wu Yi did not wake up until the following day.

The moment he woke up, he could feel pain all over his body.

He could feel a liquid flowing down his body. He slowly opened his eyes.

His eyes were red and no sign of life could be seen within.

People say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.

If this was true, it would mean that Wu Yi had lost his soul.

He looked at his body and all he found was a bloody mess. He was hanging above the floor with his hands tied by chains that spread his hands in opposite directions.

He looked up at the black ceiling.

He was covered in wounds from head to toe.

His body had been whipped into a bloody mess.

His fingers on the left hand have been cut off completely.

His left ear was missing and patches of his skin were missing.

Wu Yi was in incredible pain but he did not let out even a whimper.

He coldly looked around the room.

His eyes were free from any emotion.

Wu Yi had always been a quiet man, but his silence this time was beyond comprehension.

He did not seem to have my emotions left but he could feel his heart beating and this gave him some comfort.

The door to the room suddenly opened. Wu Yi's eyes were attracted to the door.

It was Wu Chen who entered.

He seemed oddly refreshed.

His eyes shine with his former confidence.

He looked at Wu Yi and smiled.

"We meet again, 'brother '," said Wu Chen with a mocking sneer on his handsome face.

"How the mighty have fallen," he said as he pulled a chain behind him.

A large dog the size of two normal dogs enters the room.

Wu Chen smiled at the beast before looking at Wu Yi who was hanging from the ceiling.

"I have come to give Xiao his daily treat," he said.

Wu Yi still did not react.

He at least now knew where his missing fingers and ear had gone.

Wu Chen was displeased by Wu Yi's lack of response but he was not dissuaded from doing what had brought him into the room.

He pulled out a small golden dagger and walked toward Wu Yi

When he was close enough, Wu Yi got the urge to use his free legs to kick this fool on the head. A single well-placed kick would probably be enough to knock Wu Chen out cold giving Wu Yi the chance to escape.

Wu Yi chose not to do this. He needed more information to have a better chance of escaping.
