Black Skeleton

When she was done with her breakthrough, junior sister Mu stayed on the spot for a few minutes inspecting her body.

She could feel the spirit qi passing through her meridians.

She felt lighter and much more powerful. The World seemed clearer and the air sweeter. The canyon did not have any oxygen but she felt as though the air would be sweeter. She was now on the path to immortality. She knew that she still had a long way to go but her goal in life was to achieve eternity. This was the goal held by almost all mortal beings but Mu Shen was obsessed with the concept of living forever without worrying about lifespan or aging.

She checked out her body and it seemed as though she had even become much more beautiful.

She smiled deviously before leaving the crime scene.

The place was covered in bones and the previously black ground was now covered in blood.

What Mu Shen did not know was that her actions this day would contribute to the early birth of a monster.

After carrying out her business, Mu Shen left the canyon.

She did not want to risk her body being invaded by the darkness qi.

It was too corrosive to the extent that it could erode one's lifespan. As someone obsessed with living for as long as possible, there was no way she would risk staying in this place any longer than necessary.

On the blood-stained ground, the pooled blood slowly seeped into the black soil.

It took a few minutes but the blood finally reached a skeleton deep beneath the soil.

The blood seemed to be attracted to this skeleton.

The blood baptized the skeleton peinting it red.

Each drop of blood that touches the skeleton disappears after a few seconds as though it were absorbed by the skeleton.

All the blood in the soil was attracted to this skeleton like a thief is attracted to a wealthy house.

After a few minutes, the soil regained its black color. All the blood had been absorbed by the skeleton.

Boom, a small energy ripple went through the world. Very few people could sense this energy ripple. Most of the people who sensed this energy that had just been birthed in the world were cultivating the righteous path and had the greatest power. These cultivators were mostly those who cultivated in holy arts that abhorred evil and exalted righteousness.

In the black earth, the skeleton opened its eyes. It could not technically open its eyes since it did not have any but red glows appeared in its eye sockets.

This red glow was the culmination of all things evil and unclean in this world.

The glow permeated the soil. The earth was already black but it started to get blacker by the second.

Boom, the skeleton punched through the earth penetrating the ground with a single blow.

The skeleton hand appeared above ground and it looked as though something undead was trying to claw its way back to the world of the living. This was exactly what was happening.

The skeleton hand grabbed the side of the hole and pulled itself out of the five-foot-deep earth that had covered it for over fifty years.

The skeleton appeared on the ground for the first time since the previous owner died.

The skeleton looked around the place. It could see through the darkness.

"Who am I?" the skeleton thought.

It could not speak but it seemed to have some limited consciousness.

It tried standing up but kept falling back to the ground. It was like a newborn human child. It could not stand and walking seemed impossible.

It continued trying to stand up. I was quite driven to achieve this minor task. It could feel that it needed to stand up if survival was to smile upon it.

After a few minutes, the skeleton learned how to stand on its two feet. It stood at six feet tall. Except for the fact that it was quite tall and its bones were pitch black, there was nothing unique about this skeleton. It took another thirty minutes to learn how to walk.

Step by step, it moved from its place of birth.

It could feel a presence that was attracting it in the darkness.

It walked towards this presence and at first, its less seemed weak but after a few tens of steps, the skeleton began running through the darkness at a speed a little above that of the fastest mortal human.

It then gradually increased its speed until it moved like the wind.

It left deep footprints wherever it passed.

Rocks were crushed beneath its feet and any insects it passed lost all life and fell, dead.

In the darkness, other disciples from the Lion Heart Sect searched with their Qi torches lighting their path.

"I feel as though something evil is coming after us." said a young girl about sixteen years old.

She was the leader of this group.

She looks around the place as her heart beats erratically. Her intuitions were telling her that death was upon her.

She had always had good instincts. It was due to these instincts that she had been regarded as a cultivation talent in the sect. She was not about to ignore these instincts. Not now.

"Let us leave this place," she ordered as she turned around to flee.

The moment she turned around, she saw something that froze her mind and shattered her will.

She saw death manifest. She saw the reaper come to the world.

The black skeleton was rushing toward her as though it were supported by the wind. Its speed gave her only a few seconds before the skeleton was upon her and her group of seven people.

The skeleton did not have any weapons but this did not seem to be a concern to this unclean thing.

The skeleton jumped into the sky and fell with its hands raised in clawing motions. Puuu, the skeleton ripped off the girl's head in this single motion. Blood rained down on the disciples like rain. It all came from the open neck that turned into a fountain.
