Chapter 21: Mind Power

Early evening woke Lucy up with a start. She couldn’t remember her dream, but she still felt shaky and a bit scared. She tried to adjust and remind herself that it was just a dream.

She glanced over, and Veronika was still asleep. The sun was finishing its final descent. She got up and got ready for the night. She still felt a bit jittery, and she couldn’t tell if it was still from the dream or the prospect of seeing Celeste tonight. Lucy couldn’t help but wonder if she consumed Celeste’s thoughts as Celeste did hers. Would tonight be different, or would she try to brush Lucy off again?

Lucy didn’t wait for Veronika to wake up. She left the room and wandered through the dorm until she reached the viewing room. The windows were tinted and protected with UV tempered glass–things she never used to think about.
