Chapter 20: Where To Go From Here

Much to Lucy’s surprise, Celeste didn’t pull away. She didn’t stop kissing her, and in fact, Celeste pushed harder. She let herself explore every inch of Lucy’s mouth. Lucy felt like her nerves were racing with delight. She wrapped herself tighter around Celeste’s arms. Lucy wasn’t sure how long they stood like that, but she felt certain that no amount of time would be enough. Everything within her craved Celeste and wanted to bring her closer.

Sooner than Lucy was ready, Celeste pulled away. She carried a strange look on her face, and for a moment, Lucy was afraid Celeste might be angry with her.

“You are making this harder,” Celeste whispered, but she didn’t take her hands off of Lucy’s hips. Lucy took a deep breath.

“Am I? I understand what happened and why they thought those laws were necessary, but this is different. We could show them that this is different.”
