Chapter thirty one

Amanda and Praise became really, they quietly block the door with one iron rod, then Amanda hold the other rod incase the thieves enters the house.

Praise picked their broom stick, and stood in the back door. After they were in position, Amanda called Praise.

" hello, Aman" she whispered.

" Praise, what about the room windows? " she whispered.

" their mind no go enter say there go pass window enter the house, if door close ( it won't go through their mind that they will have to pass through the window to get in, if the door is closed) " Praise said.

" you're right, bye bye" Amanda nod then cut the call.

After a while, Amanda checked through the window, three thieves were still hiding there. She called Praise and they both made a plan.

They opened the door little by little so the thieves won't hear. Amanda came out with an iron rod on her right hand, while Praise came out with a stick on her left hand, and an iron rod on her right hand.

They count on three silently, and as their weapon was few inches away from their head, one of them turned. But before he could say anything, he was already hit in the face with the rod. They hit the thieves the same time so they won't attack them. The ones they had hit with the rod fainted, while the one that was hit with the stick, just hold his head. But then was hit again by both Amanda and Praise at the same time.

People gathered them, and even the men that was chasing the thieves arrived with a car tires and fuel to burn the thieves. Amanda stopped them...

" wetin una wan do? ( what do you guys want to do?)" she asked as she stood in front of the robbers.

" we wan burn them ( we are going to burn them) " one of the man replied

" no, these are people's children, we can't burn them" Amanda said trying to reason with them.

" they are thieves, they steal, kill and rape" that the same man said.

" we can just put them in jail, why do you guys just start burning them? anytime I heard that a thief has burned, I'll feel sorry for them. If we put them in jail, they will learn their lesson " Amanda explained.

" girl, a tiger can't change from his bad ways, so the best way to stop it, is by killing it. My dear, we will have to burn this thieves " another man said. Before Amanda could say another word, the people took action. They dragged the boys together, then threw the tires on top of them, then turned the fuel on it.

" they are young boys, they can learn from prison, please stop" Amanda plead as tears rolled down her eyes, but no one listened. Praise also felt bad, she hold Amanda's hand so she won't do anything stupid.

" we were the one that caught the thieves, aren't we the ones that supposed to punish them? " Amanda struggled to get out of Praises grip. Praise was holding tight.

" girl, they won't change " the second man said.

" if they don't, I'll take the punishment, and you can burn them, just please don't burn them when you've not even given them a second chance "

" okay" the second man said,thwn he turned to the people..." do you want to put them in jail or burn them? " he yelled. Some said no, while some said yes. Amanda felt disgust, then came out...

" what is wrong with you guys? if it were your children, won't you be begging on your knees? I'm sure their parents don't even know what is happening. Isn't it enough that they are gonna get locked up in jail? do you think the feelings of losing a child is sweet? only to see you kid in jail is very painful, and now you're saying you want to burn them. I'm really disappointed in warri" Amanda yelled at the top of her voice.

" she's right " they started murmuring. " I will be half way dead, if I lose one of my child " a woman said.

The first man that wanted to burn them, dropped the matches. But the other one picked it, and was about to lit it.

" stop" Praise threw a stone at him, which made him dropped the matches. Amanda and Praise rushed him, then started beating him.

" witch, wizard " Praise called the guy.

" enemy of progress " Amanda called. The people laughed,then walked away.

Two hours later, the three thieves woke up in the hospital, they were admitted in one room, with two policemen outside the door.

Later, Praise was called, and informed that the boys have woken up. There they were in Amanda's house, but she was with Kelvin. She had already told him what happened, and Amanda had told Anthony and Samuel.

Praise rushed out of Kelvin's room to the parlor, then told Amanda what the police had told her. They went to the prison yard there in warri, to visit them And to advise them. She don't want to die after all.

The police took them to the boys, who were given their one jail to share.

" Amanda, the wall big o ( the wall is big o) " Praise said surprise.

" I'm telling you, no body go fit escape " Amanda said. " if not for this upstairs wey dey here, this prisoners for nor know say bouquet dey here( if this stairs was not here, this prisoners won't even know that there's a bouquet here) " Amanda added.

They reached the boys, and all of a sudden, one rushes to Praises feet.

" thank you, thank you very much " the guy really showed his gratitude. The other two stood up and walked to them.

" you guys hit us in the head, and then saved us. I understand that you hit us because you were scared, but last last you still saved us. Thank you" the other guy said.

" how did you do it? " the last one asked. Amanda told them the deal she had made with the people. They saw the thieves faces, so if they steal again, they won't pity them.

" don't worry, we won't let your good go in vain" the last one said then smiled. " thank you " he added.

" you guys should behave well" Praise said then both she and Amanda left.

Amanda and Praise said their goodbyes, then went their separate ways. When Amanda got home,she entered her room.She called Fabian, and told him everything.

" what if they don't change? " he asked worried.

" don't make me scared " she grumbled.

" I'm just worried " he said.

" when are you coming to warri, or are you not coming this Christmas? " she asked.

" I will come " he replied.

" then we will spend time together " Amanda smiled.

" really? "

" yes, we'll go swimming "

" okay" he replied. They talked for hours, even as she was having her dinner, they still talked. Then later, they said their goodnight, then she slept.
