Underworld: Carbon

When the world changed all those years ago and people started to gain superpowers everyone thought they were living their wildest dreams. Everyone knew that things were about to change, that the world was about to enter a new age, an age of evolution. When I first got my powers I had no idea what to do with them, not because I didn't know what to do with them but because I didn't know where to start. I had no direction, but I had ambition. I knew I wasn't a good person and me gaining my powers wasn't going to change that either, I knew I wanted to reach the top but I didn't know the journey that I would take would be more brutal and dark than anything I've ever faced before. Looking back at it people have asked me if I had any regrets on my path and every time they ask I look back and everything that I've ever done and everything that got me to where I am. I laugh and turn to look at them and say this: "Fuck no. If I had the chance I would do it all again." *** I don't own the cover *** Earth in this novel is set in an alternate reality/universe so don't use common sense here.

Rundown II

"So y'all are guessing that this nigga got a Demon Grade Esper Ability and he's still walking the earth with only the worry of being captured for the First-Era treasures he stole?" I asked why Bermudez was even sitting in front of me, let alone me being on his private AV.

If I were any of these dumbasses I would snag the dude and find any way possible for me to take his Esper Ability and make it my own.

He'd be too weak to do anything and there's no one on earth that's going to miss him. It would just be another killing that would be added to the statistics that one gives a fuck about.

Just another point on the tally.

"Why are you looking at me like you're crazy? Do you know how valuable First-Era Treasures are?" Bermudez asked as he looked at me like a special needs kid before he shook his head and facepalmed, "I keep forgetting that you're ten and originally come from a backwater Zone. Shit, my bad."

"Nah it's cool. It's not like you're wrong after all." I agreed.

Zone 2 was backward in almost every way. Everything there was just poor quality, it didn't matter if it was the resources, the opportunities, or even the economy itself. Everything was just ass. It was so ass that superhumans didn't even bother going there. Zone 2 was the only zone with a human population of 100%.

The Zones were united only on paper. In reality, they were all secretly at war with each other. They had their own laws and different government officials that acted differently from others. But they were all corpo slaves in reality.

Corporations really have influence in every aspect of our lives and it's fucking crazy. No one can stop them. Even superhumans are powerless in front of them. But that shit ain't really my problem, to be honest.

"Jalen has been hiding somewhere close to the center of the South Side. But be very careful, it's one of the main territories of Murder Strip. They are a very ruthless gang, they specialize in Contract Killings, Drug Dealing, Prostitution, Money Laundering, and Human trafficking. Based on your features if you're not careful I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up somewhere in Europe as some fuck sleeve for some old pedophile." He warned making my heart reel in fear.

I would rather kill myself than live that type of fate.

"I'll never get caught lacking. Never." I reassured him.

"They always say that." He sighed with a smile as the AV made a stop, "We're here."

The doors to the AV opened and my face cringed by the horrid smell that flared into my nostrils.

It took everything I had not to vomit immediately. Like nigga what the fuck. Even eight-month-old dead bodies stink that damn bad.

"Smells like absolute ass huh?" Bermudez laughed, cappin like he wasn't bothered by the horrendous stench but I knew he was doing something to make his brain not register the smell, "Now how would you feel if I said that I've smelled pussy that's worse than this?"

"I'd say that you need some help and that you should wear a biohazard suit every time you come near me from now on. Deadass." I answered with all seriousness. I would rather die than take in this smell again.

Bermudez's face twitched in anger at my blunt yet agreeable response to his question, "Nigga I know you're not talking. You haven't even been in pussy yet you damn loser. Ain't you like ten? Your balls haven't dropped yet bitch."

Before I could continue the roast session a ringtone played out, stopping the back and forth between me and the Lieutenant.

Bermudez picked up the transparent holophone and answered it, instead of a hologram of one of his spies in the area the hologram of Kiana appeared with her hands behind her back giving Bermudez an ice-cold stare. The complete opposite of the playful, seductive, and sadistic general that I was introduced to only a few hours ago.

"You gonna tell me why you called or you're just gonna stand there like an NPC?" Bermudez asked after sitting silently for a couple of seconds after picking up the phone.

"Chill Bermudez." I chimed in, finding this all entertaining for some odd reason, "She has to make herself presentable after all."

"Who the fuck is that talking?" Kiana harshly responded before looking at me, "Oh, it's the boy toy. You're actually taking him to the south side?"

"You're going to let her talk to you like that? Me personally I wouldn't go for any of that bullshit. But that's just me." Bermudez instigated with a laugh.

I shrugged and leaned back, "Why would I care about anything she says about me?"

"Huh?" Both Bermudez and Kiana reacted in surprise.

"And then you guys are just going to sit there and act oblivious huh?" I sighed, sat up, and walked towards the edge of the AV.

"Look at you ruining all the fun," Bermudez relented, "Well Kiana, what you call me for?" He asked.

"The Corporate Hit Squad gained intel on Jalen's location and are making their way there as we speak. We at most have a four-hour head start but that window is getting smaller at an extremely fast rate. You gotta kill that fool and get the artifacts before the suits do or else we're all fucked."

Sorry for the late upload. I am posting a second chapter as compensation.

Do you guys want a mass release for Abyssal Firmament? I'll be MIA for a week and a half to finish it, but it'll be worth it.

Should I do a time skip after this mission or nah?
