Chapter 3: Life in the Ruins of Valyria

Alex POV

I was back at the realm of the Gods. But there is no one here. A rumbling echoed across the place as something suddenly rose from the clear water.

Soon I was standing before six obelisk. I approached one and as soon I touched it, it lighted up. I covered my eyes because of the blinding light. There was a rumbling. Soon the rumbling fades, and with it the bliding light with it.

As my eyesight returned, I now gaze up at an Obelisk, adorned with runes, symbols, letters, numbers and other unknown things carved all over it. Before I could begin to read it. I woke up.

My eyes wide and my breath heavy. I felt Elise in my arms seemed to feel the same. I hugged her tightly, kissing her temple. We stayed like that for a full minute. Afterwards, no longer able to contain myself.

"You're finally awake."

*giggle* "Don't start... did you...?"

I nod. "I did, so did you I believe." She nods in reply. "I don't know what it was but I have a feeling we'lll find out soon."

" ...hummm.... " she replied.

We stayed like that for half an hour more. Trading stories of the past. Laughing at our friends. I avoided the topic of family all together. My heart still ache at what would have been. And soon the light starts to filter in the gaps from the door. The day has started.

As we packed our food which by the way are very few, I never really took stock of how bare our equipments where. I have a steel longsword. Plain grey shirt on brown trousers. I have a pair of wick sandals. And looking at Elise so did she. We have not thought about it. Mainly cause we have never done it before.

As soon as I opened the door, the rotting smell assaulted me. A quick use of a modified bubblehead charm on Elise, and then myself. I gagged, still tasting the smell in my mouth. But soon it disappeared. Elise stood by my side in worry.

"Sorry, I wasn't expecting the smell." giving her an apologetic smile. I then looked around. Seeing the carnage we had caused just yesterday not far from us. I went up close to the dragons and I ran my hands across the scales, they felt so smooth. Seconds later, a massive headache suddenly came over me. I felt my head being stuffed by something. When the pain begun to subside I felt it crashing down on me again. Moments pass and then I felt it subside again. And then I began to feel a spell wash over me, further weakening the thumping in my head.

*huff* *huff* *huff* I hear her voice but I can't make up what was being said. I casted a healing spell on me once again. The pain vanished, I then noticed the hands roaming all over me. I took her hands with mine, and I then kissed her palms. She quiets and then hugged me tightly.

After looking at me, making sure I caught myself. She asked. "What happened?"

"The Smith's blessing alongside what happened earlier this morning. It just overwhelmed me."

She scrunched her nose at that. She does that when she's thinking. I kissed her nose to get her attention. 'I am never gonna gonna get tired making her blush.' I told myself.

"I can now craft us the second highest quality armor using dragon leather, drangonscale and even upgrade our weapons using their blood, teeth and fangs. And better yet I can enchant them using runes."

Her eyes were wide opened at that. She gave me a determined nod, and soon we got started to work.

We begun to gather the necessary ingredients. We ignored the kesser dragons we killed but went for the firat two I fought. The eyes are a must, ones we had to remove carefully. Thanks the Gods for magic.

There was no necessary forging or sewing or on this material. Dragons are magical in nature, used by their Gods as a conduit unto the world. R'hllor himself.

Over time the Valyrians worshipped themselves more than their god. One that was held strong with each sucessive conquest.

Until one faithful heared the whisper of one. An unnamed dragonlord, thought he was being guided by his god. Giving him knowledge of his enemies secrets, their plans and inner thoughts. Using them in his favor he rose through the ranks. Obtaining wealth and prestige amongst his fellow dragonlords.

Having beeing blessed as he so put it endeared said voice unto himself, only for him to be betrayed. For a demon has been the one whispering unto him. The Great Other. using the weakness in their faith he took advantage of it. And one that woyld have bought forth The Doom of the World. A ritual that would have granted them power to rival dragons. Triggered the wrath of their true god instead.

Seeing his dragons, his children, sacrificed by the people he once favored. R'hllor was enraged as he was saddened. Sending the last of his followers his command he bought fort The Doom of Valyria, just as he had told Daenys Targaryen.

The dragonlords ritual was a success. They did obtain the power to rival dragons. But in the form of deformed dragons. Their minds just as lost as their bodies. And forever trapped with the curse of R'hllor, unable to survive sunlight or moonlight. Cursed to forever be trapped within this prison of smokey darkness.

Deformed dragons. The forsaken ones. There were 27 dragon lords here during the doom. The other's location, unknown. So far we have killed 12 dragons, so there should be 15 more.

I immediately warned Elise of that.

As soon as we had enough leather I begun reshaping the materials, that's right. Transfiguration. It is the best way to weave cloth and armor out of dragonic ingredients.

With my innate knowledge of using magic I was able to form what I wanted of it. I created highly decorated clothes. After that the next step.

Armor, though creating a plate of armor out of this scales would be good, I can do much better. Fusing the blood, scales and bones, and a small runic ritual, I created a couple of trench coats. Though seemingly more of decoration, what they have is a powerful enchantment imbued upon their recreation.

This coats create a thin near invissible layer of protection, one who's defensive capabilities is second only to dragon scale and above steel armor. It covers it's weilder from head to toe, so no headshots or knives to the back itself. Then came the third, accessories.

Two rings and a pair of earrings. Their creation is through a ritual again. But I was too drained already. Elise offered if her reserves could be used, but that can be tricky since the runes needed required specific amount of mana to poured into it. Too much or too little could be catastrophic. So we opted to rest for the day.

She spent the night pampering me. Much to my joy. But knowing her, I knew she isn't doing this right now because she wants to. No, she is doing this right now cause she feels useless. One I knew how to remove. I grabbed her by her waist as I sat her across my hips. And simply kissed her. My hands ofcourse wandered. We simply reveled in each others embrace. And spent the night in confortable silence.

Morning came and I soon got to work on the ritual. After carving the circle using the dragin's fang with my mana pouring through it, I began to pour the blood on the eyes currently sitting in the circle and watched it spill unto the circle. Once done I just activated it by releasing a blast of magic on the circle.

It was a sucess. Instead of eye balls I now have two basketball sized rubies and two basketball sized azure gemstone.

Elise was wide eyed at that. I just gave one of each to her, after all I won't be needing all of it.

After transfiguring a few more small items out of dragon parts I had before myself a pair of golden earrings and two golden rings each holding a red gem within.

Enchanting them was easy. The ring serves as a panic button. Releasing a distress signal to mine if she ever triggers it or removed by someone else. Another served as a poison detecting device. It will heat up, and send warning signals to the user. The earrings serve the same with the addition of being anti-poison. They will isolate the ingested poison preventing it from causing damage to the user. So aside from a case of diarrhea poisoning us would be impossible.

The final step is marking the runes inside them. This inturn makes sure that the transfiguration remains permanent. And insures that the enchantments remain stable.

I made a pair of each. One set of two earrings and two rings for each of us.

I personally placed the acessories on her. Enjoying the feeling of her skin against mine.

"You still remember how to spoil me. And I feared I will have to retrain you?"

"How could I not, when you've beaten it into my head."

Her soft laughter echoed around us.

She kissed me playfully first. And then she kissed me passionately the second.

I gave her a goofy smile as I said, "And you wonder why I haven't forgotten."

A soft slap on my arm had me returning back to work.

Now to work on our weapons. Though I wanted to forge Valyrian steel I can't. I lack the full knowledge of how to make one. I don't know how much knowledge is inacessible for me, but I know I have too little. But that doesn't mean spellforging isn't possible.

The difference between steel and valyrian steel is their capacity for holding a number of enchantments. I will have to settle with what I have. This time I will need a forge.

"I will need a forge it would seem."

"We can find it first, or we can continue. I will advice the former. We don't know where the other dragons are yet. And if we ran out of magical energy, it would be best to have dragon slaying weapons."

. . . . . "You're right. Let's go."
