Chapter 15

After their little adventure, the trio headed to the pokemon center to get their pokemon healed and headed to their respective homes. They all decided to train until the new year and get ready for the trip.

After reaching home, Daniel got mankey up to speed, letting him adjust to his new life. So far, all his pokemon including the mankey were male. Mankey's ghost mastery came from curse and spite. The rest of his moves were regular moves a mankey would have.

He decided to test out the tera orb he received.

He had to wait for a few hours before each use of the tera orb naturally recharged. All his pokemon had a tera type matching their own type. This would turn the pokemon with two types into a monotype pokemon of the respective tera type. Interestingly enough, when the tera orb was used on mankey, the only pokemon in his team without a tera type, he successfully terastalized. His tera crystal looked like a red boxing glove that was being worn as a hat with a blue swirl around it. After turning back from the terastalized state, mankey had the tera type column he was missing.

The tera types for all his pokemon were as follows:

Dartrix- grass

Rockruff- rock

Charcadet- fire

Pawmi- electric

Mankey- fighting

Since dartrix was currently his only dual type, terastalization did not help with defence for anyone else but him. Still tera boosted attacks packed a punch.

Thanks to his experience in the past few months, he guided mankey easily in his training and mankey started to grow stronger very quickly. By the time the vacation came ended mankey's stats looked like this

Although it didn't look like much, this was a lot of improvement in less than a week's training. He had managed to teach rock smash by some mock battles with rockruff and did not expect it to actually work.

Daniel now prepared himself for the trip and to take on the gyms. After months of absence, he couldn't help but be exited to be back to school.

2nd January 1021

The entire class assembled. All 20 students were now present in their class. Since none of them had their birthdays in January or February, all of them were 10 years old and were unofficial trainers with at least one pokemon of their own.

In such a small number of students, Daniel's group of three was actually one of the biggest group of friends.

Alright class since everyone's present, lets head out.

They were taken to a bus that would escort them to the various gyms. The bus by itself was capable of taking a few pokemon attacks. The teachers were great battlers. They understood that these young trainers were essentially walking money bags since a lot of them had some kind of rare pokemon as their starter with possibly a weak bond.

They would be taken to Pewter gym (rock) first, followed by Cerulean gym (water) and Vermilion gym (electric). This was the only possible order since the Vermilion gym did not take challenges for the first two badges, and the challenge level for the first two gyms was the same.

After talking to his friends during the journey to Pewter, he was shocked to find that Chris planned to try his luck with the gym challenges despite having essentially just one usable pokemon. It actually made sense since there was no reason not to try. In fact, since all the students already had their own pokemon by now, they all had planned to take a shot at the gyms. Regardless of what their future professions were about to be, the idea of being great battlers and defeating gym leaders was very exciting.

Daniel, Rod and Chris started discussing strategy to defeat Brock, the first gym leader much like the entire bus was doing right now.
