Chapter 16

"Do you even need to plan for the fight?" Chris questioned Daniel.

He was one of the three people who knew Daniel already had an advance ranked pokemon. He had witnessed datrix's power during their little adventure.

"I plan to fight with mankey." Daniel said suprising both Rod and Chris.

"Don't worry, if mankey loses, datrix will sweep the match." He reaffirmed his friends.

Daniel had plans to use the first two gym challenges as training exercise. He had seen how good Brassius was and was looking forward to have an even match instead of sweeping with dartrix.

Before he caught mankey, he planned to use charcadet. Pawmi was walled by ground types and rockruff was weak to them. Although charcadet was weak to rock types and weaker than rockruff, Daniel felt that with the damage reduction and from a burn anlong with combined chip from burn, firespin and charcadets kiting he could pull off a win.

Now he had a fighting type perfect for the job. He hoped to solo the gym with mankey.

Rod also planned to solo the gym. He only had tangela who did not struggle against rock types. Magikarp wasn't an option and meowth only had technitian boosted bite as an option for damage which wouldn't work since Rod never trained that move. Daniel remembered meowth having a 1% dark mastery.

Pidgeotto and pinsir were weak to rock, but pidgeotto was his best choice if tangela fell.

Chris was actually in a similar spot as Rod. The diffenence was that his star for the show was Squirtle, his starter which was his best pokemon. On the flip side he had no backups since caterpie and pichu couldn't put up a realistic fight.

As they reached Pewter city, everyone started getting nervous. The bus dropped them off at a hotel in the city. They were about to stay here for % days. There would be 4 gym battles every day and the rest of the time would be the tour of the gym along with explanations about the gyms working.

Since their roll numbers were arranged in alphabetical order according to their last names, Daniel's fight was on the first day followed by Rod's on the third day and Chris's in the last one.

(Their names are Daniel Craig, Rod Lawson and Chris Oz as mentioned in chapter 1) 

In the first day, Daniels fight was just after the first roll number who lost since his ratatta or pidgey had no chance against Brock's geodude which was the first of his two pokemon. Daniel was called to battle soon after.

Brock called back geodude, likely to replace it with another one. For the junior leagues first two badges, Brock was known to use rookie ranked geodude and onyx. As expected, Brock called another geodude in the previous one's place.

The rules were already explained to the students beforehand to save time.

Daniel didn't waste any time either and sent out his mankey.
