Days elapsed so fast without anyone's knowledge and today was their last exam. Lizzie accompanied John not only on the first day of the exam but all the other days too. But today she was called by her teacher for some important work at school and she had to leave early for school. She finished off the work as quickly as possible and went to the exam hall, waiting for him outside.

There was still half an hour until the exam commences. She felt the bag heavy and put it inside the hall in her seat and came back outside to wait for him. She was loitering there since she knew he would not come any sooner than ten minutes before the exam. Today was the last exam and she was very happy that she could spend more time with him now. She decided to tell her parents about John and her and she was very confident that their parents would support her and her decision.

She remembered the kiss they shared last evening and her lips curled upwards without her awareness.

"Hey what are you doing outside the class and why are you smiling?" a male voice snapped her thinkings and brought her to the reality. She immediately recognized the voice and turned towards its owner.

"I am waiting for John." she asserted and tugged her hair behind her ear, recovering from her smile.

"But that doesn't explain your smile," Lucas asked striding towards her.

She froze for a sec and averted her gaze before she cleared her throat. She was abashed on getting caught while thinking about the passionate moment that happened between them.

"I- I was just remembering a joke." she stuttered in embarrassment. 'Joke? Seriously Lizzie? what a lame excuse!' her mind mocked her.

"Really?" Lucas frowned , looked her up and down and tapered his eyes on her.

"Really." she looked downwards. She just wanted to bury a hole and hide in it. She will surely die of humiliation.

He merely bobbed his head "Okay if you say so." he said with a pinch of tease and mockery in his tone in addition to a sarcastic grin on his face and walked away.

She smacked and shook her head in ignominy. A girl was standing far away from her and glimpsing the view that contained Lizzie and Lucas. It was neither new to her nor she was new to this. She sighed and walked towards the room as if nothing happened only to be halted by Lizzie.

"Bella, have you seen John coming?"

"No." was all she answered back with a small nod and strolled off.

She was so disturbed that she didn't even bother to look at her face while answering.

Lizzie scrunched her eyebrows into a line at her behaviour. Lizzie recalled her behaviour in the last few days and she let out a sigh in worry about her friend. She made an effort to talk to her whenever she had the chance but there was no use.

Realizing there are hardly five more minutes left for the exam commencement, she started up to worry about John. She at least did not have a phone to contact him and all she could do was to dawdle there with arms crossed.

Three more minutes passed but he was nowhere to be found. Lizzie felt something off and decided to go to his home and check on him. She took a step forward only to be stopped by her teacher.

"Lizzie, the exam is going to start within a minute and may I know where you are going in the eleventh hour."

"Sir, John is not here yet. He should have been here by now. I think there is some problem. I will go check on him." she said while her agitation grew exponentially with every second passing.

"I understand your concern as a friend, Lizzie but it is not the best decision for you to leave now. I suggest you go back to the hall and wait for him. He might be on his way here."

"No sir, I will come back with him. Please allow me to go." her scepticism is not letting her body to be stable.

"Miss Cooper, you are not allowed to leave the premises until you finish your exam." He stressed every word in a severe tone binding her to his words.

"I will make a phone call at least." she pleaded him.

"I am afraid we don't have time for that. Please go back to your room." he could understand her but he didn't want her to trust her exam to odds.

She reluctantly walked to the room with a slow pace in the hope that she would see him but to her dismay, she hadn't seen him. Though her body stayed back, her thoughts and soul roamed around him.

The exam had commenced and still, John was nowhere. She could not concentrate on the exam and barely looked at the paper in front of her.

Mr Smith observed the girl in discomfort and went towards her shaking his head. "Miss Cooper please focus on your exam right now." he said sternly making her look into the paper.

Her mind was barren and could not understand what she was doing but managed to solve a few problems from the paper. The three hours of the exam tied her there with an invisible rope. She only wished he was fine, safe and sound and wanted to run to him.

Finally, after the exam completion, she was free to go and didn't waste a moment to leave. She hired a taxi to his home to reach faster and she was there in ten minutes.

She chimed the bell to hear no response from inside. She continued to ring the bell for a minute more only to realize that the house was empty inside and locked from outside.

She took the same taxi she used to go there and went to her home. She saw her parents in uncertainty and chaos, and Michael was literally shouting on the phone. Her fret raised more now and began to perspire. She trudged to them with furrowed eyebrows and pressing her lips tightly into a thin line.
