Ch 125: Interview

Once I somehow managed to assemble myself. I took a printed file to Mr. Collin's office with Kai following me.

Rome was sitting on a chair in front of his desk and Mr. Collin was at his desk. Then his Bodyguards were stationed behind him from off to the side. My eyes looked around as I noticed the looks they had on their faces. Rome was doing all he could, not to laugh.

Oh, Great! They all knew Kai and I had sex.

"Well, that took you long enough," Rome mockingly proclaimed to tease me. Kai grinned as Mr. Collin appeared to know what transpired but he was trying his best not to act as if he knew.

"Yeah, I had a situation to deal with. Unfortunately, it delayed me," I said casually and handed Mr. Collin the file.

"Yes, we all heard, Princess," Rome teased as I sat down in the chair next to him dying. Mr. Collin and his bodyguards did their best not to chuckle but the beam on their expressions said more than it needed to.

And of course, Kai was grinning away like a happy nincompoop while he took a seat at the arm of the chair I sat in. He kissed my hair and I did my best to ignore his affection. I told him we shouldn't have sex in the office but like a horny dog, he ignored me. Officially, I am so coy.

One paper at a time, Mr. Collin viewed the file and then he looked at me smiling. "Despite your situation, you had to handle. You did a splendid job here," he said as his eyes traversed Kai's beaming face. Surely that's a bigger indicator that he knew.

Thankfully, before a comment could be made his phone rang. He answered it by saying, "Excellent! Bring him up."

Mr. Collin ended the call and he looked at everyone, "Victoria and I have an interview. Therefore Kai and Rome, I expect you both to stay quiet and shut up."

I was shocked to hear Mr. Collin's authority directed at Rome and Kai. He stood from his desk as Rome chuckled but Kai rolled his eyes at his dad. Certainly, he was offended.

I got up with Mr. Collin and we took a seat next to each other on the couch.

"What do you want me to do again?" I asked confused since I'd never interviewed anyone before.

"Just relax Victoria and follow my lead," Mr. Collin replies, smiling at me as he neatly stacked the papers on the coffee table. I felt Kai's presence behind me and then he squeezed my shoulder lightly for comfort. I glanced aside just to see him partly shine a smile. For a brief second, he did relax my nerves to be more mettle.

But then my heart skipped a beat when a knock came at the door. Ms. Thorn came in with a tall slender young man wearing a gray business suit. Yet I was more shocked to see who he was.

"Ben..." I said super exhilarated and surprised to see him enter.

He smiled happily to see me and that nervous look he had on his face vanished.

"Mr. Parker. Please, welcome yourself to have a seat," Mr. Collin stood up greeting him with a handshake as I did the same.

"You know him?" As we all sat down with Ben sitting across from us. Kai's voice seemed to flare in jealousy.

I turned my face humiliated by him. "Yes, we shared courses at the University," I honestly told him.

"Which is precisely why I asked Victoria to help me with this interview," Mr. Collin's voice came out sharply towards Kai.

I turned around to see Ben sitting there awkwardly between the animosity with Kai's jealous behavior.

"Shall I bring anyone coffee?" Ms. Thorn offered to lighten up the mood and I could see her eyes dazzling at Kai.

"Sure, I'll take a coffee," Kai randomly said despite his father's warning to keep quiet.

"Bring us all some coffee," Mr. Collin said to her kindly. She bowed a head nod and left to do that.

"Anyways, shall we begin," asked Mr. Collin with a friendly smile at Ben.

"Uhm, Yes! Yes, Sir, I am ready!" Ben nervously cleared his throat confirming.

"I have looked up your records and I must say they were outstanding," praised Mr. Collin.

"Thank you, sir," Ben replies, gratified.

"Running my own business has been my dream since I was young. I wish to give my all and continue college this year."

"Good, I saw you had already signed up for this year's semester," said Mr. Collin. "So tell me Victoria, how was Ben's performance in class?"

"Ben was always a hard worker," I said as Ms. Thorn came in with a tray of coffee and creamers. "He was a team leader and I feel he would be perfect for this job."

Mr. Collin nodded in agreement. As Ms. Thorn gave Kai a cup of coffee. He went around the couch and sat next to me beaming his eyes at Ms. Thorn. While she did the same before she smiled at me.

Ms. Thorn wasn't your type to seal someone's husband. And I know Kai was only behaving so childish because he was jealous of Ben. Once she left the room, Kai put his coffee down uninterested to drink it. I could've figured he wouldn't wanna drink it. And that he did this all for a show towards me. But I didn't give into his childish game and acted like he wasn't here next to me.

"I can agree with you, Victoria," Mr. Collin announced and pulled me from my head. "Mr. Parker, the job is yours. You will be working alongside Victoria. I liked how you both worked together in class. I know this will be a great opportunity."

Ben was thrilled and nearly speechless. "Wow, thank you! I promise I won't let you down!" He shook Mr. Collin's hand saying.

Afterward, I took Ben back to my office and showed him what we will be working on. As Kai closely watched me, irritatedly. I could tell Ben was uncomfortable. Luckily the day was done and I started gathering my stuff.

"I'll meet you outside Victoria," Kai said after Ben and I said our goodbyes for today's work.

"I'll be out," I said, trying not to be so indignant.

I followed Mr. Collin and his Bodyguards outside and my jaw plummets off my mouth and chatters down the concrete steps. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.
