As the season of Relain neared its end, Athilaan was diligent in his attempts to make the phay'leona work but getting it to twitch was far from getting it to stand, and years from being battle ready.

While Athilaan was finding little success, the rest of the team focused on creating their second model; this one tailor made to Mae's unique form of magic. This, much to everyone's delight, made the creation less complex, and would open the door to the next generation of dolls. For Mae's, it was as simple as placing glass beads filled with water, within the joints and limbs, providing targets for her magic to grasp onto. This would lead to the development of the Akress Band System, which required a combination of the original form of magic and the new custom bead work. However, scaling down the size and streamlining functionality became key to ensuring proper function of the new generation of Phay'leona.
