Leaving

Back at the new Lee manor.

Derek received a call, the trap has been set in motion and everything is in place. Now they just have to wait. Meanwhile, Jade had been toying with medallion, she was hesitant about calling the number. In the end, she passed it to Derek, to investigate the medallion and use whatever military connection the Lee's has.

She buried herself with decoding and deciphering the codes. She got excited because she finally understood, the codes were in Russian. Previously she only solved the puzzle but she did not understood the meantime behind the codes. She only learnt Russian when she was 15 years old.

The codes reveals latitudes and longitudes with short instructions as well as location of the hidden base. She guesses she must have foiled some Russian spies plans. Once again, she passed all the information to Derek.

In a blink of an eye, the day has arrived for Derek to leave. He cursed the time for being jealous of them. Every night he would hold her tight, refusing to let her go even one moment in anticipation of this day. He hated that he has to leave her behind. During this period of time, he would not be able to contact any one of them because the place, there is communication access.

Jade felt like a big chunk of her heart is torn out, when she saw him pack a luggage this morning. She knows he has to go but somehow it does not make her feel better. How is she going to sleep at night without him? She had been so used to his presence and scent. She held on to the sweater he worn the whole day yesterday and inhaled his lingering scent. She calmed her nerves and walked out of the room to send him on his way

The moment she saw him standing at the door, she could stopped the tears from flowing.

"I'll be back. Wait for my return. Don't worry wifey, I'll be fine." Derek tried to placate Jade when his heart was also tearing apart. He hated to part with her. She is his life, his oxygen, his air supply. He didn't know how is he going to get through days and nights without her.

Now that they have already an idea who their enemy is, they need to start preparing for war. The trap they set had bore fruits. They now know Crystal is behind the ransack incident and is connected to Heather, Russian mafia. They hypothesised Heather to have connections with the Russian spies that Jade helped the government to capture. They still need to be wary of the enemies because his uncle is yet to make public appearance. They conjectured that he will make an appearance to cause trouble at the company, but they can never be too careful. They have to keep their guards up.

The hatred seems to run deep and is targeting not only the Lu family but the Lee as well as the Ho. They still could not confirm that Crystal is Vivien, but the likelihood is high. Derek prayed that his family and friends stay safe while he is gone. He has to return stronger and even more bad ass.

He hugged her tight and whispered words of gentle and sweet loving. He promised her to return safely. Jade could only nod obediently. She managed to squeeze a smile for him. "I won't cry anymore. I should smile instead to put you at ease." she said.

"Silly girl. How could I be at ease? I am only at ease if I get to see you every milliseconds, alive and kicking next to me. I'll miss you like crazy. I got to go." Derek said as he patted her head.

"We will take care of her, brother in law. Don't worry." Chris and April chided.

"Brat. You'd better go because if you're late you'd be punished, military code. I'll keep her safe. Don't look down on your old man's abilities. I'll hold the fort until you return. Return safe and well my son." said the usual stern faced Father Lee. Tears could be seen welling at the corner of his eyes.

With heavy heart he parted from Jade and gave everyone a hug. Jade could see his figure walking away step by step. He didn't look back because he knew if he did, his resolved would break and he would run straight back into her arms, his comfort zone.
