Big news
The first few days was the most difficult for the parting couple especially Jade. Her aura was back to her previous icy state, in fact even worse. The company had resume business and she was at work. After a few days of struggling with the new assistant, she requested Sarah to join her permanently.
"Boss, no wonder the previous assistant could not stop trembling." Sarah spoke up.
"I don't understand why she can't do a thing right. I didn't even scold or did anything bad to her." Jade shrugged her shoulder as she explained.
"Your current expression and aura is enough to freeze an elephant. He left?" Sarah asked.
Jade knew who Sarah was referring to. She quickly clenched the sweater she was holding in her lap and quickly inhale the scent that was slowly disappearing, she panicked and then she just switched off. She started rocking her body with a blank stare.
Damn, not good, Sarah thought. I have caused her to revert. It must be tough on her without Derek. Sarah quickly called Chris and April over. They were shocked to see Jade in this condition, they were reminded back to the time they destroyed her iPod.
April quickly approached Jade and hugged her to her bosom and patted Jade's head. She had silently witnessed Mama doing it a few times to Jade whenever Jade went into this kind of state. Jade stopped rocking after awhile and the light in her eyes slowly return. Chris was holding tight to Jade's hand. They had been informed briefly by the apologetic Sarah about the event that led to this.
"I missed him so much. This is just a few days. I don't know if I can last for 6 months." Jade sobbed pitifully.
Chris and April hugged her to comfort her. Sarah joined in as well feeling guilty like hell. She vowed to keep her mouth shut next time and not speak about Derek.
"I'm alright. Sorry for worrying you guys. I need to be stronger. He is working hard for us, I really need to pull myself together." Jade said as she clenched her fist till her nails dug hard into her palm. She needs the pain to help her keep sane. After they were sure she was alright. They left her to continue with their work. Jade buried herself in work to keep herself busy. After work, she would practice martial arts with the instructors. Father Lee would take her to the shooting range for firearm training. By the end of the day, due to her tired body and mind, she would just collapsed in exhaustion.
Time passed by a little faster and it has been two months since he left. Jade has no way to know what is happening on Derek's end. Today, she is feeling a little queasy and bloated. She kept throwing up. The usual fish congee cooked by Father Lee also made her throw up. Father Lee was worried because for as long as he had known Jade, she never fell sick. She continues to vomit each time, she tried to eat the congee. Father Lee quickly removed the congee and Jade felt better.
"I can't stand the smell." Jade spoke.
"Girl, what do you want to eat? Did you eat something bad outside?" Father Lee asked.
"I ate the same food as father and did not eat any outside food." Jade answered.
Father Lee decided to cook chicken soup for Jade, as he was cutting the onion, she started to throw up again. Father Lee then was reminded of Yu Ling when she was carrying that brat.
"When was your last period?" Father Lee asked directly.
"Father means to say....." a sudden realisation dawn upon Jade. She clasped her mouth.
"Two months ago. Do you think....." Jade spoke quietly.
"Butler Xi! call the doctor quick!" Father Lee commanded.
The doctor came and diagnosed Jade to be in her early pregnancy. Since she was already active pre-pregnancy, it is safe for her to continue her training but it needed to be tailored for pregnancy. Jade patted her lower abdomen and whispered, "Baby, daddy and mummy loves you. You wait for daddy to be back okay?"
Her pregnancy news was received well by April and Chris. They kept the news quiet to avoid danger to the baby. They were all happy with the news. Jade was worried if her child will turn out like her but his words linger in her mind, "I like you, why would I not like another you."
Derek is not faring well either. He missed her so much but his training was so tough that he didn't even have enough time to think about her. He suffered so many cuts and bruises all over his body. Occasionally, when he lies in bed his mind would wander off to his wife. Each time he felt like he could not continue, he would touched the scar on his forehead and reminded himself, he needs to be stronger for them.
