Boss Monster
Once he was inside, the doors closed without any warning, and Leo was faced with the boss monster.
In the centre of the room was a large throne with a green monster the size of an average human male. It had more muscles than a high goblin and looked more humanoid, this monster was a hobgoblin.
It was much stronger than even the high goblins as it was a whole new level of monster. Once a high goblin reached its level cap, it could continue down the goblin like and evolve further into things such as a goblin shaman or goblin warrior with the final evolution being a goblin king. However, a high goblin could also choose to evolve into a hobgoblin which brought many positives in the long run as their evolutions were stronger than goblin evolutions despite the negative of it taking longer to reach the level caps.
Surrounding the hobgoblin were five high goblins kneeling in front of him, seemingly his servants or bodyguards. As the boss monster had noticed Leo and Reaper, he spoke in goblin language to his servants, and they turned to look at the two of them.
The five higher goblins started to run towards Leo and Reaper, and in return, Leo ordered Reaper to kill them as quickly as he could in whatever way he felt best. In response to Leo's order, Reaper sprinted towards the oncoming enemies and coated his claws in fire energy. He then proceeded to slice the two higher goblins at the front in half with no problem.
Once the hobgoblin saw the ease that Reaper was dealing with his servants, he looked slightly panicked and got involved himself. It jumped from its throne and landed behind its remaining three servants and ordered them once again.
The three high goblins and the hobgoblin formed a circle around Reaper and got ready to attack. However, this was the worst decision they could have made, as Reaper used his unique skill for the first time in his life.
A huge mass of fire exploded from out of Reaper's body and filled the area ten metres around him which left the floor burning even after the fire had disappeared. This immediately killed the three high goblins and severely injured the hobgoblin.
However, this attack left Reaper almost completely exhausted and meant he would need to wait a minute or two to regain energy. Instead of taking this risk as the hobgoblin could recover first, Leo ran into the fire with his sword in hand as the description of Reaper's skill said it only damaged enemies.
As he had expected, Leo received no damage from the fire and only felt slightly warm. He was confident in his ability to kill the hobgoblin as he had both a sword and his increased stats from levelling up while in the dungeon. Despite his lack of practice with any weapons, let alone a sword, Leo performed the best slash he could possibly muster.
This cleanly took off the head of the hobgoblin and sent it flying which greatly relieved Leo as he had finished the dungeon. As the corpse of the hobgoblin disappeared, Leo ignored the loot it had dropped and instead went to check on Reaper, "How you doing boy?"
Reaper purred and nodded to signal that he was fine as, despite having run out of energy, he had not actually taken any damage.
Once Leo made sure that Reaper was okay, he went to look at the loot dropped by the hobgoblin. There was a small orb which was an item that could only be dropped by boss monsters, it was called an experience orb which could be eaten by a human or monster to gain a large amount of experience. It did not matter if Leo or Reaper ate this orb, as Leo would gain the experience earned by Reaper, and vice versa. However, Leo did not plan to use this orb until he had opened all of the loot boxes as he hoped he would gain a new ally in the form of another tamed monster.
As he knew the dungeon would not regenerate the boss room until he left, he decided to check his and Reaper's statuses and open all of the loot boxes he gained.

Leo thought to himself, 'Our statuses seem quite normal, one point increase in both physical and magical stats per level is normal. Hopefully Reaper's jump up by a lot with his first evolution though, and I wouldn't mind him gaining a few new skills as well. Twenty-one loot boxes to open, sounds like fun to me!'
Leo touched the 'loot boxes' part of his status, and immediately twenty-one loot boxes appeared on the ground in front of him. They all looked exactly the same as the first loot box he had received, and one by one he opened them.
Loot Box 1: Minor healing potion. *Able to heal cuts and other small injuries.*
Loot Box 2: Five physical stat points (personal). *Upon use, gain five physical stat points yourself.*
Loot Box 3: Fire gem. *Upon consumption, all fire-based attacks from the user will permanently be stronger.*
Loot Box 4: Skill Book, Telepathy (personal). *Upon use, this skill book will grant you the skill Telepathy.*
Loot Box 5: Ten magical stat points (personal). * Upon use, gain ten magical stat points yourself.*
Loot Box 6: Dimensional storage bag. *Able to store 100 cubic metres worth of items.*
Loot Box 7: Ten magical stat points (personal). *Upon use, gain ten magical stat points yourself.*

Leo was incredibly happy about what he had received from his loot boxes, especially as he had gained a new monster, multiple skill books, stat points, healing items, weapons, a healing item which could heal anything including death, and a mysterious egg which he would have to hatch at level 100.
Once he had finished going through everything, he started to put his spoils to use.
