Ruby abruptly raised her head and looked straight at Lucy. "Are you playing me for a fool?"
Indeed, in order to save her daughter, Ruby was willing to adopt a lowly attitude, but she wasn't stupid!
She knew very well that even if she did as she was told, it would be too late anyway!
"Playing you for a fool?" Lucy tilted her head to the side and said cheerfully, "Congratulations, you hit the mark! I have indeed been playing you for a fool from the start! I just wanted to get what I wanted, that's all!"
"I want to thank you for saying what you did just now!"
"Since I've already gotten what I want, I'm not afraid to tell you the truth—I never once said that I'll save that wretched little girl that you had with Heller!"
