Unchained

The light arched through the air and Clovis stood watching it, like he had all the time in the world to move.. but he didn't. All he could think of was Raina and Kyera and their snowball fight in the garden's back home. He imagined the feel of this ball to be a burst of Icy cold through his system just like then… but this time it would be accompanied by tears rather than laughter. Sorrow consumed him… he never got to hear little Gale's laugh.

As these thoughts consumed him and everyone was focused on Clovis' last moments alive, Kendrick was focused on Kyera. He was closest and could feel the terrifying cold waves. A look of pure pain contorted her expression as it happened. In that split second The Shadow King's eyes flicked to his daughter, dark with concern. The Lady Raven turned and took a step toward her niece torn now with indecision. She could reach nether.

The chains inside Kyera's soul snapped with the roar of the tiger within and the world's very core shook as if the fury of the gods had been born onto earth. Well… in a sense it had. Very few things could draw the power from the forest's core but she had been there. She knew the path that power took and it WANTED her. The power from the core, pressing against the veil flooded up and claimed Kyera's body and a shimmering wall of silver energy burst around her. Forest and Goddess potential merged and flowed around her freeing and awakening every nerve and muscle in Kyera's trembling form.

Kyera never even opened her eyes as that silver light around her shot out and caged the golden light making shatter as though made of glass. It went from a Godess's most glorious killing blow to a harmless shower of sparkling dust. The Shadow King stared at his daughter bathed with darkest black shades and pure silver light.  Clovis stared at the silver cage in a daze. His heart was still beating and the world was going at a normal pace again as shock disrupted Fate's concentration.

Then his eyes found his wife, just as those normally molten gold eyes opened to reveal bright silver pools, devoid of a black center. The power that was flooding her had locked away the window into her soul, all he could see was the solid shield forming inside her.

"Kitten?" Clovis whispered walking toward her a bit hesitantly. Something deep inside him made him concerned the thin golden ring on the outside of her silver eyes was nearly undetectable, but the only hint of the woman within.

"Fate, leave." The Shadow King spoke clearly as The Raven removed his cuffs and moved forward seeing the magic drain back out of his daughter. The warning in his voice and the decrease in her power made by her outburst, made Lady Fate unwilling to stay longer. Kuera's strength, though temporary was unrestrained and unrefined. Blended with Shadow or Death magic and she wouldn't have a chance. Fate turned to a fox and dashed out the window.

The guard led the priestesses out as Kyera's eyes slowly grew more golden. The threat had passed and with it, the need to control the raging power rushing through her was gone, and with it her stress. She swayed just a little, and three people moved to grab her. Out of pure proximity, Clovis was quicker. His arms wrapped around her waist as she leaned herself into the caring embrace. Clovis gladly cradled her against him.

"Are you okay, love? Where are the kids?" Clovis asked her, his voice gentle as he held her close. She offered a small smile.

"I will be fine. I sent Gale with Raina to Dragon's nest. They will be safe there.

"Are you sure?" He asked a edge of worry that the children were gone and so was the woman after them.

"Yes, the Dragon Nest is territory of the Godly Dragons. With Kyera being a Storm Queen, her children would be safer there than anywhere else save the Moria lands." The Shadow King explained so his daughter didn't have to. Kyera's internal system was slowly rebalancing with her own energies.

"What was that?" Kyera asked knowing very well what she had done but no idea where it came from. Her father kissed her forehead gently.

"Don't worry about it my dear. You will know when you are ready." He offered and looked at Kendrick. "Come on, let's verify the path to the Shadow realm is safe. Kyera needs a few minutes to rest and she will be just fine."
