275. Quitting The Crew

"So you want to marry Vivi soon?"

"Yeah, that's the plan."

The whole Straw Hat Pirates have a talk about Jon's marriage plan on their ship. They need to talk it out because it is such a big deal that will decide the crew's future.

"I didn't mean to hide it from you guys. I just wanted us to have a worry-free adventure before I tell you. This is the right moment in my opinion, that's why I revealed it today."

"So what will you do after getting married? Keep being a pirate or what?"

Jon closes his eyes for a moment before answering.

"I will quit being a pirate."

Everyone is shocked even though they have expected this since they started talking about this topic. After all, Vivi is a princess and it's not good for her to marry a pirate. He is still a wanted criminal though, so it will still be difficult.

"Even if you quit, you are still wanted by the world, you know. You are now the 2nd most wanted person in the world after Luffy. Will everything be fine for you and Vivi later?"

"It shouldn't be a problem as long as I fully become a part of the Alabasta Kingdom. Happo Navy is Kano country's force, yet they have some bounty holders among them, and they were actually eligible to join Levely. International and National affairs are different."

"You have a point, but those people from the Happo Navy have been there before getting their bounties. While you got your bounty before being a part of a Kingdom which are 2 different cases."

"Well, everything can be solved with money and connections. And if those don't work, I still have another plan that will surely work. But it doesn't change the fact that I need to quit being a pirate."

Jon suddenly gets closer to Luffy and kneels while lowering his head.

"Captain, I wish to quit from the crew."

Everyone feels a heartache when they hear those words. Jon doesn't say that out of rage & whim like what Usopp did on Water 7. This is a decision he takes after a lot of thoughts and consideration. They all are silent, waiting for Luffy's answer.

"Are you serious about this? You won't regret it?"

"I am very serious. If I am to regret this, then it means I am not serious with my life."

They get silent for a moment again as Luffy doesn't say anything.

"Fine."

Luffy finally says it and everyone knows there's no turning back now. They want to cry, but things haven't finished yet, so they hold back.

"You can quit from the crew, but not now. It's not only you who can ask for something from us. We can also ask something from you."

".... Sure."

"Captain's order! Jon can't quit until we finish exploring the New World and send you to Alabasta. Every one of us can ask one thing from Jon to be done until that time."

"Hehe, that's more like it."

"Don't think that you can quit that easily."

Everyone is satisfied with this decision even though Jon is worried about what they will ask. But they are happy to have more time with Jon before he leaves. They start thinking of what they'll ask Jon to do until the time he leaves the crew.

"By the way, what about Jane?"

"Please don't worry. I will stay in the crew. There are still many things I want to see in this world. My brother is my brother, I am me. Besides, I don't know what to do if I quit. I don't want to just keep following my brother. I want to do my own things."

The crew is relieved to hear that Jane won't quit like her brother. They can't have 2 members quitting at the same time as it will be bad for their hearts. Their crew is small in size, so even having 1 member quitting is too much for them.

"Then, we must enjoy our time now while Jon is still here."

They all agree with Nami and return to the town of Giants. The Straw Hat Pirates stay in Elbaf for 2 weeks because Dorry & Brogy aren't letting them go easily. They missed them so much, especially Jon who has been taken care of by them when he was young.

The crew continues their journey and as Luffy said, each of them can ask 1 thing from Jon. Zoro made his request first, which is a swordsmanship battle. They've done it in Elbaf and Zoro won as they only used pure swordsmanship.

Zoro is still better at swordsmanship than Jon, but if it were a true battle where Jon can use his jutsu, then the result would be different. That result boosted Zoro's confidence to challenge Mihawk soon for the title of Strongest Swordsman because apart from Mihawk, Jon is the best swordsman Zoro knows.

Next is Sanji who asks to be taught a jutsu that allows one to see through clothes. But obviously Jon says he doesn't know such a jutsu and won't teach Sanji even if he knows. He doesn't say that his sharingan allows him to see through clothes and even see through flesh because he can see chakra paths instead.

So Sanji changes his request to a cooking lesson. Sanji asks Jon to learn cooking from him until they part ways. The reason Sanji asks Jon to learn cooking is so that Jon can cook for Vivi to make sure that she eats delicious and nutritious food.

Franky makes his request too, which is for Jon to only use underwear for his lower half until they part ways. He refuses, but everyone forces him to accept because it will be funny, so he can only agree because it's still not an excessive request and he needs to take their requests as promised.

Brook also stated his request, but it can't be done now because he wants Jon to allow him to perform in Jon's wedding. Of course, Jon allows it. There's nothing better than having Brook perform in his wedding, and it's much better than not wearing pants all the time.

After they leave Elbaf, Usopp & Chopper make their request, which is the same request. They ask him to make them walk on water which they thought would be impossible. These 2 think that if Jon fails, then he needs to stay in the crew. They still don't want him to leave the crew.

But Jon has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He uses Chakra Thread jutsu on Usopp & Chopper as if they are puppets. By using chakra threads, he can control chakra on their bodies to make them stand on the water while still able to move freely because he doesn't restrict their movements.

After all, if puppet masters can make their puppets stand on water, it should be possible to do it on humans too. Luckily his chakra thread jutsu mastery is high enough to do this. So he can grant their request which makes them happy but also disappointed.

Luffy is jealous of them, but he holds back because he has something he really wants from Jon. He also plans to be the last to request something from Jon because he is the Captain.

Nami makes the next request when they sail near a Marine base. Jon is quite worried of her request because she has made 1 when they were on Elbaf which got rejected by everyone because she wanted Jon to be her servant until the last day.

Her new request is still not normal, but it's much better than before. She asks Jon to help her steal treasures from all Marine bases they encounter. It's actually smart of her because Jon is the only one in the crew who can infiltrate those heavily-guarded Marine bases undetected.

Jon agrees and he steals valuables from every marine base they pass on their way. He agrees easily because it is also a chance to get some money for himself and help the crew get more money before he leaves.
