The New Recruit meets The Assassin

"You are his friend, aren't you? It's something you have to figure out for yourself. And I believe I have answered most of your questions. Do you want to know anything else?"

"How do I get my powers?"

"Judging by your sensitivity towards ground movement, there's a higher chance for you to awaken with Earth Elemental powers. But until you have fully awakened, nothing is certain."

"How long will that take?"

"That's something we haven't figured out yet despite researching it for the past 20 years. Awakening varies depending on the person. There are also people who will never awaken as well. But don't worry. You will awaken and it might not take that long."

The two of them continued their chat. Greg told Fredrick about the basics of the powers and other related informations.

After a while, Jason returned.

"Is the implant done?" asked Greg.

"Yes."

"Where's Sara?"

"She went out with Racheal to receive a special guest."

"Who is this special guest?" asked Fredrick.

"Don't worry. It's just an assassin, a harmless one on the top," said Jason.

"Assassin? Like the maid you sent to escort me? And what's with an assassin being harmless?"

"Don't believe me? Come with me. Will you come as well, uncle Greg?"

"As much as I would like to meet that kid again, but right now, I need to check up on Sam. Maybe next time."

"Alright. Hey Fred, get your lazy ass out of that chair and follow me."

"Stop ordering me, like you own me or something. I am coming, *tsk*."

As the two friends went outside, Greg went to another room, a room where several stasis chambers were operational. While the others were empty, one contained a girl. It was where Samantha was kept after she was brought back to the facility. Greg made sure Sam's vitals were stable. Then he picked up a photo frame from the desk, the frame contained a photo of two middle aged men, one of which was Greg, two middle aged women, two little girls, supposedly Samantha and Sara, and a young boy that resembled Jason.

"Project LAST RETREAT finally begins. Hope you guys return home safely," said Greg looking at the photo.

After Jason and Fredrick went up, Jason asked him to wait at the entrance as the girl named Racheal came to Jason informing him that he got a call.

"Aren't you the girl at the reception we met at the campsite? So, you are also related to Jason?"

"I work under Miss Sara and I only take orders from her. Master Jason is not my employer."

"That's not what I meant. Forget it. Are you also an assassin like the maid in the villa?"

"I am not. My job is to protect, not kill. And for your information, every single person in the villa is either an assassin or a former soldier from the military. So you better not have any funny thoughts regarding everything you learnt today."

Fredrick couldn't find the right words to say after remembering the incident with Julia that morning. He remained quiet.

After waiting in front of the entrance for a while, Fredrick noticed a car coming at them. It was a car Fredrick didn't take long to recognize. The car was the exact same one which belonged to his friend, Yosef.

The car stopped in front of them and it was indeed Yosef who came out of the car.

"Seeing you here, I believe Jason has also told you about the current situation," said Yosef.

"So you are also with Jason?"

"You should have been able to guess that after all it was the two of us who saved you four years ago. But that doesn't matter anymore. So, where's Jason?"

"He said we were to wait for a guest. But he got inside to take a call."

"And now that his guest is in front of his entrance, he isn't here. Why am I not surprised?"

"Wait, you are the guest? Does that mean you are an assassin?"

"How much did that guy tell you?'

"He just said a harmless assassin was coming.

"I will show him how harmless I can be!"

"So you are an assassin? But you eventually don't look like one."

"Surprisingly, that's a compliment for an assassin."

"You are finally here." said Jason who just came out.

"Don't waste anymore of my time, tell me why you called me?"

"Let's go inside first."

As Jason and Yosef went inside, Fredrick remained outside.

"Why didn't you go inside with them?" asked Racheal.

"I just found out one of my friends turned out to be the leader of some kind of secret organization while another is an assassin."

"Aren't you also from the dark side of the society?"

"So, you also know. *sigh* But I am not anymore, ever since those two saved my life. I was sure that their backgrounds weren't simple but I never thought finding that out would totally change the world I know of."

"You should try your best to adjust. We all had a hard time after learning about the aether and these powers."

"Come to think of it, are you also an awakener like Sara?"

"I awakened two years ago with the Fire element like Miss Sara. But my abilities don't even come close to Miss Sara's. You should head inside before they forget about you."

"Oh, that's right. Anyways, it was nice talking to you, Miss Racheal."

Fredrick went inside where Jason and Yosef were waiting for him.

"What were you doing outside? Were you flirting with that girl?" asked Yosef.

"No, I am still trying to process all these things."

"Don't worry, you will be given special classes. Before you awaken your powers, you need to know everything from the basics to the intermediate," said Jason.

"Classes? like those in schools?"

"Yes. Why? Is there anything wrong with that?"

"Are you going to start with him alone? What about the others? When will you bring them in?" asked Yosef.

"None of them have shown any signs of change. Ashton and Damian's background is still unknown. It wouldn't hurt to tell Thomas about it in advance. But the problem is with Abbey. You know that too, don't you?" said Jason.

"What's wrong with Abbey?" asked Fredrick.

"How do I explain... The only thing I can tell you is that the Abbey you have known till now is all just an act," said Jason. As Fredrick witnessed too many surprises in a single day, he wasn't shocked at all after hearing it.

"Then let's bring Thomas in. We already have Fred on board," suggested Yosef.

"We still have time. I have sent some of my people to keep an eye on them. If they show the slightest changes, we will bring them in."

At that time, Julia entered the room.

"Miss Samantha has woken up. She wants to meet you, Sir," said Julia.

"Alright, I was heading there eventually. Let's continue our talk when we go down."
