CHAPTER FOUR: The Second Murder

A lot of people were at the crime scene, when they got there. The killer made sure the victim was killed in an open place filled with a lot of people.

On getting to the victim's dead body, the right arm had been lop off just like it was done for the first victim and the person showed sign of knife wounds at multiple areas of the body before bleeding to death.

The nearest police station were already at the scene since they're closer to the place and from the look of things the killer had been able to instill fear in the people with just two victims.

" Sir, I think it's the same person that did it," Ken said while James simply nodded in affirmation. This killing was starting to bother him and he fear that the worse might happen if they're not careful with the case.

" Call the forensic unit to come and carry the corpse to do the necessary investigation on it as soon as possible!" James ordered, and left the scene.

" Now can you see the reason why you need to solve the case as fast as possible before another person ends up being the victim," the police chief said immediately they entered his office after returning from the crime scene.

" It's not as easy as you think the case is. The killer is trying to be a perfect killer which is making it impossible to solve the case. "

" We're trying our best to solve it but it has not been easy. We will have to put in more effort to prevent the killing of another person. I think at this junction,it will be safe to declare this a serial murder case and the person should be labeled a serial killer," James said.

" Are you sure that this case is a serial killing? You know the gravity of declaring it as such and it ends up not being a serial murder case," the police Chief said now calmly.

" I know the gravity, the better we declare the case as such the better for the police. That way,the higher-ups will pay more attention to the case and provide more pei for the case."

" I'm sure you read the file I gave you,the two case are way similar that we can't call it a case of circumstances. For the first case, the person was brutally killed and his right hand lop off. This same qualifications were also for the second case as this person was also brutally killed and his hand lop off just like the first case."

" It shows that the killer has a lot to gain from this and now the people are already swayed by this murders." Said James.

James and his team members waited for the police chief to say something but it seems since he heard that it's a serial murder, his mind travelled immediately.

" If you truly think that it's a serial murder I will include it in the report to the police commissioner when I visit the headquarters," he said after regaining his compound after his mind had already drifted and visited another world.

" I think I heard you mention something like right hand before if I'm correct. What is that about?" He questioned.

" I thought you went through the files I sent some weeks ago. The two murder were similar in killing and even the nature of their deaths are quite similar."

" The killer made sure that after killing them,he disappears with their right hand which is unreasonable except the person derives Joy from their death or there's another meaning to that which I unfortunately can't comprehend," James explained with his eyes fixed on the police chief.

" Okay if that's true, just like I said earlier I will include it in the briefing. You can go back to your office while I get prepared to leave the station," he said though with a tone of uneasiness which was unlike him.

" This one you came today hope you came with good news?" The policy commissioner queried immediately the police chief entered and took his seat.

" That is one of the reasons why I actually came. There's actually some load that we need to lift before the case can be solved," the police chief said.

" What do we really need to lift?" The police commissioner asked impatiently. He is known for his impatience especially when he's under pressure.

Even though it has cost him a lot,his ability to resolve things quickly helped him especially with his profession.

" Is there anything you are keeping away from me. I of all people know that it's very unusual of you to put pressure on this case without a reason behind it. It will be better to reveal anything you're hiding especially if it's a key in this case," the police chief queried in a familiar tone.

He and the police commissioner have come a long way and they already had a close relationship even before joining the police Force. They came from the same town and the police chief became a police officer through the police commissioner.

They don't keep secrets from each other, making it easy for them to be aware of the other person's actions and work.

" There's nothing to say but your report will determine whether there's something I need to add or not," the police commissioner said.

" If you say so, I was told that the two recent murder cases are similar and the squad in charge of the case believe it's a serial murder case that needs quick action," he said reporting.

" You mean it is a serial murder case?" The police commissioner asked again as if he didn't hear it the first time.

" Hope the two cases does not have to do with the cutting of the right hand of the victims?" The police commissioner asked leaving the police chief in shock.

" How did you find out when I have not even spoke of that? Or is it what I'm thinking?" The police chief questioned.

" I received two letters that day."
