Born of the wastelands, Spheris Arnadel, a young skilled thief, finds himself subject to a twist of fate when he steals a powerful relic and becomes a Bearer — humans gifted with powers from the Gods. As a punishment for his theft, he is cast into an otherworldly realm alongside other Bearers, where he faces off against monstrous beasts and powerful enemies. Yet, in his determination to return to the Continent and save his dying mother, Spheris is hell-bent on surviving the abyssal world. Even if it means giving his body to the Dark God whose powers he had stolen... even if it means losing all of his humanity.
Heavy panting. Lots and lots of heavy panting pushed out of Spheris's lungs as he knelt on the grass before the Gallied gates.
His face was casted down on the earth, his hair was loose and falling over his shoulders, his knees were aching, his hands felt numb. Blood dripped down from his face and splattered on the ground. The two arrows that had been shot at him earlier were very few feet away from him, while he remained knelt, feeling sorry for himself, feeling ashamed.
He wasn't exactly sure of what to think, but he knew that everything that had just happened was all his fault. His avid appetite for a fight, his overconfidence, his obsession with leaving the Expanded Realm. They had all led to this, and now, his friends were in danger.
It rang continuously in Spheris's head. 'All. My. Fault.'
'Yes, it is.' The darkness immediately appeared in Spheris's mind. Obsidian. 'It is all your fault.'
