"Good morning, Spheris," a woman dressed in a long garment greeted him as he entered the Registration Office. "If you would just take a seat for me here."
With a question on his face, Spheris hesitated for a moment, but then he complied, sinking into the plush chair she had indicated.
He took a quick glance of the room around him. It was spacious enough, well-lit with a chandelier of lightspheres, the ceilings were high and decorated with intricate carvings.
Lining the walls were polished wooden panels, and several large windows let in streams of natural light. There were shelves filled with neatly organized documents and scrolls lined one side of the room, while elegant wooden desks were scattered throughout, each occupied by officials busily attending to their tasks.
The woman who had greeted Spheris was poised and elegant, she appeared to be in her late fifties, her long garment was a deep burgundy with golden patterns.
