It swirled above them, the color of a hibiscus flower, yet nowhere as beautiful. It was a twisting, writhing mass of malevolent energy dancing in the air grotesquely before it flew away in the distance.
The Beast Butcher collapsed to the ground, his body lifeless but free from the dark possession that had tormented him. One of Lirael's Brigade members, a young girl with a stern face, immediately rushed to his side, checking his pulse and ensuring he was still alive.
