Born of the wastelands, Spheris Arnadel, a young skilled thief, finds himself subject to a twist of fate when he steals a powerful relic and becomes a Bearer — humans gifted with powers from the Gods. As a punishment for his theft, he is cast into an otherworldly realm alongside other Bearers, where he faces off against monstrous beasts and powerful enemies. Yet, in his determination to return to the Continent and save his dying mother, Spheris is hell-bent on surviving the abyssal world. Even if it means giving his body to the Dark God whose powers he had stolen... even if it means losing all of his humanity.
As commanded, Spheris remained still and frozen on the cushioning fabric of the bed. Morrigan gazed at him closely, as though he was peering through his face. Spheris wondered if he had been watching him this way through his sleep.
"What is this?" he inquired softly.
Morrigan eyed him speechlessly for a while, many thoughts swirled in his head and Spheris wasn't sure if the man was frightened, hateful or only curious.
"The assembly is ongoing," Morrigan responded. "Bearers are being chosen to handle the danger in Darkmount. Lord Daligarth wants you here because he worries that you could be a distraction."
Spheris frowned with muted anger at this response, but it was not what he meant when he asked; 'What is this?' What he had been referring to was the box of bluish ethereal energy encasing him inside the bed like a prison.
