Escape capsule

The Duke stood, enraged, in the middle of the escape capsule, glowering at the submarine's captain, who was kneeling with his hands clasped in front of him, begging for forgiveness. Ronald was asleep in the back, covered by a sheet. The Duke's assistant, Mr. Smith, lingered there, too, watching with glee the display in front of him.

"How did they find us?" hissed the Duke.

"Sir, I don't know. We took every precaution available before surfacing."

The Duke knelt before the man and grabbed his chin, raising it gently. With a sudden move, the Duke slapped the man, sending him in a tumble to the floor. The captain, crying uncontrollably and sobbing like a child, spit a couple of teeth on the floor.

"Fucking bastard, we almost died because of your negligence!" snarled the Duke. "Surface!" he ordered to one of the submarine officers.
