Whatever joy I felt died the second I saw Charles' somber expression.
"I'm sorry, Agent Chang."
"What's wrong, Charles?"
"It's better if you come with me," Charles replied. Agent Chang flipped through a folder and her face grew pale as I tried to get up.
"The Duke escaped, didn't he? He didn't die in the explosion," I exclaimed, cursing silently.
Still shaking from the cold, I managed to stand on my own. Agent Chang tried to get me to lie down again but I ignored her and asked Charles to show me the evidence of the Duke's escape. A small shadow, coming out of the Duke's submarine before it sank, was visible in the military satellite pictures that Charles handed me. An escape capsule, dammit.
"What's its course?" I questioned them, still freezing and trying to stop shivering.
"It's heading straight for deep waters," replied Charles, frustrated.
