When all the crew returned to the ship, Redbeard introduced Sonia to them.
"What?? Hey, Boss, are you not afraid of bad luck? Having a woman on our ship can bring bad luck!"
"So far we've never been caught. What if she gets us caught???"
"I don't want to get killed because of a woman!"
One by one his men protested. Sonia frowned at the people rejecting her presence.
"Watch out, you people. If I really bring bad luck, I wish you to be the first to be hit by misfortune!" She snapped at them fiercely.
Actually Redbeard was not really superstitious. Who could prove that women could bring bad luck to people on the ship?
It was dumb to believe such a thing!
The burly scary-looking man only needed to take out his sword and stare at his men one by one with narrowed eyes, and no one else dared to speak.
Eventually, Sonia stayed with them and became the only woman on the pirate ship. True to her words, she never once complained. She fought alongside those men and over time, the girl managed to prove her abilities to her fellow crew members and earned their respect.
Her ability in sword fighting and her courage during missions led the other pirates to finally acknowledge Sonia as a part of them.

THREE YEARS LATER
.
"Hey, let's go quickly. At midnight, our ship will leave. We have to buy the supplies as soon as possible."
Sonia pulled Mars's hand across the crowded market. They were resting in Silvercove for a week and tonight would go back to sailing for a few months. Sonia had been ordering several crew members, including Mars, to help her buy supplies.
Since appointing herself as the ship manager, Sonia had managed the lives of all the pirates under her father. In a way, she had become the little boss on the ship.
Mars didn't feel like shopping that day. He always disliked life on land, let alone crowds. Since 18 years ago, he had fallen in love with life in the sea and hated the land.
Seeing Mars' nonchalance, Sonia finally became annoyed and left the young man alone.
"All right, you just wait here. Don't go anywhere. I'll go and come back here with the stuff and you can help me carry them to the ship."
After Sonia was out of sight, Mars stood quietly by some carts and wagons to wait for her. He immediately daydreamed about their next trip.
BAM!
"I-I'm sorry,"
Mars gasped and moved from his reverie when a soft body bumped into him. A girl was running in his direction in panic and didn't seem to pay attention to the road.
"Use your eyes, please!" Mars said angrily. However, he still helped the girl to stand by holding her hands. When the girl lifted her face to apologize again, Mars was suddenly stunned and at a loss for words.
"I'm sorry ..." said the girl in her melodious voice. "I didn't mean to hit you. Next time I'll watch the road."
Mars didn't reply. He was still stunned by the beautiful creature before him. The girl frowned and waved her hand in front of the man's face. "Are you okay?"
Mars finally moved from his shock.
"You .. you are her…!" He pointed at the girl with a surprised expression. "You're still alive!"
The girl furrowed her brows. "The last time I checked, I AM still alive. Have we met before?"
Mars didn't answer. He had met the girl before, but this girl must not remember, and Mars could not tell her that they had met.
Because ...
If this girl found out who he really was, she would definitely hate Mars.
"Uhmm .. sorry, I mistook you for someone," said the man looking for an excuse. "You look a bit like her."
"Hmm .. really? Does the really look like me?" asked the girl curiously. "What is her name?"
"What is YOUR name?" Mars asked back.
The girl hesitated for a moment. But because she felt guilty about bumping into the man, she finally gave him her name. "I'm Emmelyn."
"Oh," Mars nodded. "Her name isn't Emmelyn. As I said, I thought you are someone else."
"Ah, okay," Emmelyn was still curious, but she immediately remembered that she was running away from someone and the expression on her face turned panicked again. "I'm being chased by bad people. Can you help me hide?"
Mars looked around him and pointed to the wagon behind him. "You can hide inside. I'll protect you."
Emmelyn let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you," she said before climbing onto the wagon and crouching on the floor to hide.
Meanwhile, Mars felt his chest pounding and his mind became a mess.
It's her, he thought.
He had finally found her again...
This time, he wouldn't let her go.

From the author:
So, apparently, Mars met Emmelyn somewhere years ago, but she didn't remember him. What did actually happen?
What do you think about the story so far? Do you think there will be a love triangle between Mars, Sonia, and Emmelyn? I am sure from the synopsis you already can guess that Emmelyn is the princess from Myreen who was betrothed to Mars since they were children.
Would she know who the man actually was? Or would she fall in love with the pirate and wanted to break off her childhood engagement since her fiance had been missing for 18 years?
