Chapter 30- Dragons Nest

Zagreus and Astrid walked calmly towards the forest holding hands and intertwining their fingers as a couple, as soon as they set foot in the forest, the Demigod pushes Astrid against a tree much to her surprise and confusion about it and she says.

"Zagreus?! What's going on!? Is some Dragon attacking us or...."

But she is soon prevented from further talking due to Zagreus' lips interrupting her, preventing her from finishing the sentence.

Astrid even though she was surprised at first due to being caught off guard, and she felt his tongue on her lips asking to enter, she gladly gave in. The kiss was sloppy, but she was loving every bit of it. She felt his hands coming down on her waist and squeezing her ass as he pulled her closer to her which brought a low moan from the girl and soon she regains her senses and puts her arms around her boyfriend's neck while closing her eyes with a cheerful expression.

After a few minutes of constant caresses and hot kisses, the two only parted when Astrid gets breathless, they stay together for some time just enjoying each other's presence resting their foreheads on each other.

And then they decide to continue the path towards the Valley, both with happy expressions as they walk.

The couple calmly followed the path hand in hand and fingers intertwined, the two were as usual but their love and their importance to each other increases every day.

Upon arriving in the Valley, Astrid is slightly surprised by the beauty of the place and how they've never found this place before, but before she can even speak her mind about the place, she catches sight of Alduin and her expression shows pure horror and fear.

She makes the right decision in her opinion at the moment and throws herself at Zagreus behind a rock as she whispers.

"Be careful, there's a Dragon right there in front of you!"

Before Zagreus could say anything, Astrid spotted some lying weapons that Zagreus had brought to train with them.

"There are some weapons over there, we have to act now! Hurry!"

And before Zagreus could even say anything, she'd run to the guns and grab the first one she saw while performing a sideways spin to generate rotational force and hurl the Ax at Alduin.

Alduin lets out an irritated roar as he prepares to dodge the Axe, but he doesn't need to do so as Zagreus decides to act as he sees Astrid going to the guns and using her electromagnetic powers to pull the double-edged Ax halfway to his hand in a manner similar to a certain God of Thunder.

Astrid looks surprised and shocked at Zagreus with what he has just done but at the moment she is more worried about the Dragon than knowing about Zagreus, the Demigod quickly tries to calm the situation as intermediary before it gets worse.

"Calm down Astrid, it's okay, you'll be making it worse if you act impulsively right now! I know what I'm asking of you at the moment may seem crazy and excessive but I want you to trust me!"

Zagreus said while standing between his girlfriend and placing his hand on the head of his Dragon friend who growled in mock irritation to tease the girl.

Astrid even with the fear of Dragons that has been taught to her since she was born, even though she didn't understand why but she felt she could trust Zagreus and if it was someone other than him who asked her to, but at this point she decides to relax and download a little trust her boyfriend.

*Sigh* "I'm going to trust you BUT you owe me an explanation now, first tell me who he is and what are you doing together with a Dragon like your friend?"

"Astrid, this is Alduin the Night Fury and Alduin already knows you because I already told him about you."

Alduin roars and growls low as if he's saying something to her, Astrid looks at Zagreus still a little confused and disbelieving with the situation and the Demigod decides to resolve this situation.

"I think it's better if I show you."

Zagreus told Astrid as he held out his hand to her after mounting Alduin's back.

Astrid even scared of the Dragon in front of her, she sighs and grabs Zagreus' hand and climbs onto the Dragon and sits on her boyfriend's lap and says.

"Alright, I trust you!"

Diss Astrid with a slightly more relaxed expression but still tense.

"Thanks, now let's take it slow, alright buddy?"

{No need to ask twice, Zagreus!}

And then Alduin starts to fly and pick up height maintaining a steady, slow speed.

(1st Person POV: Astrid)

Flying a Dragon, a Night Fury to be exact, riding next to my boyfriend as intimately as I was now seemed nothing more than an impossible and unimaginable dream.

Feeling the wind blowing across my face, the clouds within my reach, I couldn't even think with something similar to that and all this was provided by him, my boyfriend, Zagreus.

To be flying was already a liberating feeling for anyone, but to be flying in the sunset and feeling the clouds in a magnificently colored sky beside a man as handsome as Zagreus, no woman could help but fall in love with him.

With his hair darker than night, his fair skin and his different colored eyes that I can't help but marvel at their beauty, I felt safe in his strong arms and without any explanation I knew he would protect me.

But that wasn't just what I liked about him and I could say that I even love him, his courage and strength with his intelligence and charisma, his jokes so bad that made me smile and his way of talking that enchanted me, I loved his whole way of to be.

I would never have imagined that one day I could love someone like I do with Zagreus, it was all so fast but so....right and it all fit so well. And I think that's what matters, I'm happy so everything is alright.

After a few minutes enjoying the moment while receiving affection from my boyfriend, I love it when he pats my head, I look at his beautiful face and kiss his lips and say.

"It's okay, I admit it. That's pretty cool.

It's...'incredible'. He's amazing, you're amazing!"

I said that while petting the Dragon's head.... Alduin and when I look at Zagreus' face, there it is, that smile.... that damn smile, and then he said to me.

"I know I'm amazing, Alduin and I make a great duo."

*low growls*

"Yes Alduin, I'll bring fish later. You were a good friend today!"

And I didn't really understand their relationship, at first I thought Zagreus had mastered the Dragon through strength and fear but now the two seem like friends? And sometimes they looked like an Owner and his pet.

"Zagreus, how did this happen? How did you become friends with a Dragon?"

His face took on a cute pensive expression and then said.

"Well, apparently Hiccup really hit Alduin that night and that was the day I ended up arriving on the Island, and right away I ended up finding a Night Fury fallen and injured on the ground, all I needed was to kill him like everyone else on my place would do."

He stops talking but I realized there was more to the story so I say.

"But you didn't kill him! Why not?"

"Why... when I looked into his eyes, I saw myself, I saw impotence and fear due to the situation I was in and I couldn't kill him. So even if it was stupid or something, I healed him and I released him, from this day forward it seems that our connection has been increasing more and more!"

As he told me his story, he stroked the neck of the Dragon....of Alduin, and his words....I've never heard anything like it and I couldn't help but fall in love with him even more, how could anyone be so perfect !?! How someone could be so strong and yet so kind, he doesn't have the arrogance of his strength even though he pretends to be when I compliment him, and that's one of the things I love most about him.

I can't resist...I don't want to resist anymore so I kiss him the way he kissed me in the forest tongue and all and he's surprised at first but soon kisses me back to my joy and after a few minutes, I break the kiss and tell him as I look into his eyes.

"I like you! I like you very much, Zagreus!"

And a big smile appears on his face and he looks like he's going to say something, finally he says it.

"I couldn't hear you right, can you repeat it please?"

He asks me but from his smile on his face I realized he had heard very well but today I will let him through and then I repeat.

"I like you, don't make me repeat you idiot!"

I finish saying and punch him in the chest which only makes him laugh even harder.

"Hahaha, I like you too, Astrid!"

And to my great joy, I am kissed again with great love for Zagreus, this is the best day of my life.

(1st Person POV: Zagreus)

As we passed through the sky, Astrid and I talked about what was in common about us which was basically our interest in Weapons and Fights, I would tell her about my adventures I had in the other world hiding just that little detail and I know that one day I'll have to tell her the truth about me but that day won't be today.

In the middle of the conversation, Alduin starts to change direction and before I can question him, his voice comes to my mind.

{Zagreus, something seems to be suppressing my will, I feel a compulsion that forces me to follow this path, but don't worry because I know what's there in that place and I need you to see that!}

Something is controlling you to follow this path?!

"You can't take us there now, Astrid is with us, we'll come later!"

I couldn't help it and instead of thinking I ended up speaking out loud, and soon Astrid says.

"Why can't I come along? I'm not a delicate flower Zagreus, you more than anyone should know that, I want and I can fight by your side!"

My girlfriend says with a serious expression that she didn't look like she would accept a negative answer.

{Heard that! Your female is brave and strong, stop worrying so much and remember that if there's a problem, you're strong enough to get her out of there.}

I sigh in defeat and finally tell Astrid.

"Apparently Alduin wants to show us something, I wanted to leave you somewhere safe before but I know you wouldn't like it at all and you wouldn't accept it, so we're leaving now. But I ask you to listen when I talk to that there are no unnecessary problems as the danger is currently unknown!"

I finish saying and Astrid looks annoyed halfway through my sentence but when I'm done she is happy and agrees with me and concentrates on what comes next, Alduin gets into a fog and I start noticing some figures that look like Dragons or... .. more precisely Hybrids?? A Nadder with 2 pairs of wings? Giant Red Gronkle? And that Zippleback, by the gods, that was nature being OP.

"Bend down and be silent!"

I whisper to Astrid as I lightly manipulate the darkness around us so we can hide better.

Astrid doesn't seem to notice what I just did and is focused or more precisely, she is shocked at the Dragons' appearance but had the intelligence not to ask anything at the time because I asked her to be quiet, thank the gods my girlfriend isn't stupid.

We were flying at a slow pace and after a few tiny ones even through a dense fog we managed to see an island with a Volcano in the center, apparently our destination is there as all the Dragons we followed are entering there.

We went into the Volcano Dragon's Nest. and we saw swarms and swarms of dragons throwing their offerings into the lava below.

With all this noise all around us, Astrid leans her head back against my shoulder and lifts her head and says close to my ear.

"Is it gratifying to know that all our food for decades is dumped in a hole?"

"I don't think it's just that, if you look you can see they're shaking with fear, I think it's something bigger than that!"

"So it's some kind of Cult? Do they worship some kind of Dragon God or something?"

"No, that wouldn't be possible either as most Dragon Species don't have Wisdom, they are animals that follow their instincts, so I think a serious sect unlikely!"

But the answer to our question comes right away when we see a Gronckle deliver just a single tiny fish and then a roar is heard from below and the Gronckle screams in terror and tries to fly quickly but fails due to its large mass and tiny wings .

Astrid is startled by such a frightening roar and asks me in shock in a fearful way.

"What is it?"

And before I need to respond, a colossal dragon emerges from the lava pit and eats the Gronckle alive. All the other dragons cringe in terror at the gigantic creature, and it seems that this Dragon was the boss and the cause of it all.

The big Dragon seems to have noticed us when his 3 right eyes focus on us, and a cold voice comes to my mind.

{Finally you're here.... *Sniffles sniffles*, and by the scent I can see you brought two humans with you they're my favourites, I thought you'd never answer your alpha's calls.}

"Alduin, we have to go. NOW!"

{Is the human still alive?! Did you bring him here alive?! YOU DARN TRAITOR TO YOUR OWN SPECIES!!}

The Dragon seems to be super angry, and finally Alduin decides to take off, and yet we are almost devoured by the colossal giant that tried to snap us up but ends up missing and catching another Dragon instead, I use the [Eye of the Wise] Skill to find out more about this Dragon.

'O!! She's their fucking queen, Sh*t, I feel in my blood that she wants me to get down on my knees and serve her. But that won't happen to her bitch, I'm that Dragon who has surpassed the level of the Gods and I'll never go down on my knees that easy!'

As we fly out of the Volcano along with all the dragons flee along with them. The Queen again tries to swallow us whole but thanks to Alduin with his great speed dodges the attack and ends up snatching up a handful of Dragons who were trying to escape go.

Alduin flew at great speed until we got out of the fog and at this point I ask him to slow down for now, the way to Berk is silent due to the great discovery we just made, as it wasn't every day that I discovered the cause of a millenary war.

As we land in the Valley we left, Astrid still seems to be digesting the news so I try to talk to her about it and ask her in an obvious way so she can easily answer me.

"It's hard to believe isn't it? All these wars over a Dragon!"

"No, it makes a lot of sense. Its like a giant hive. They sãore the workers, and thats their queen. She controls them. As soon as Stoick comes back, we need to tell him!"

"Yes I will tell him but not like that because they will try to kill Alduin and I don't want to have to deal with an army of Vikings!" 'It's more like I don't want to decimate a bunch of Vikings!'

"Zagreus, we just discovered the Dragon's Nest. The thing we've been looking for since the Vikings first sailed here. And you want to keep it a secret?! To protect your pet dragon?! Are you serious?!"

"Of course I do. But like I said, I plan on telling Stoick about the Nest, but first I need to come up with a plan to defeat that thing and prevent them from trying to kill Alduin and I already have something in mind!"

Astrid just smiles like she's been waiting for my answer and then says.

"Alright. So what are we going to do?"

I smile at her accepting my decision despite wanting to just go and tell everyone and try to stop this millennial war at once, and I appreciate the confidence she gives me.

"We will build a team, a team like you have never seen before. We will be the first to tame and assemble Dragons!"

Astrid smiles at me and just looking at that smile on her face makes me love her even more, she nods and says to me.

"That's how you say it, and where do we start with this team?"

"Of course it's up to you, I'll teach you what I know about Dragons and how to connect with them and gain their trust!"

So as the night deepens, I explain some basic information to Astrid about the Dragons until I finally decide it's enough for today and we say our goodbyes to Alduin before heading back to the Tribe.

I walk her to the front of her house and Astrid stops and looks at me and says.

"Thank you for today, Zagreus. I feel so glad you trusted me and told me this!"

She walks over to me and grabs my neck as she pulls me into a chaste kiss full of love, and then she breaks the kiss and says looking into my eyes.

"And that's for everything else!"

When she's finished saying what she wanted, Astrid slowly walks over to her house while doing an extra sway of her hips and looking at me as I close the door.

*Sigh* 'I love her!'

And that way, with effort, hard work and training. A month goes by quickly and today is the day the Vikings' quest for the nest comes to an end, and they dock at Berk Harbor.
