Chapter 1

Permission

It was chaos, among the vast boreal plains where the climates are mainly icy, there are certain hunting villages.

It is in one of them that we now find ourselves. Under the irresistible clouds of snow that cover the entire sky, day or night, we can see a small village within the established.

With about 16 wooden houses and a small fence around it, it looks like an idyllic place to live any day but this one.

The once sturdy fence is pulled down by the snow and the houses burn in a crimson fire that permeates the cold night with color, among the houses you can see some men dragging women and starting other fires.

Everything was in complete chaos. Fire out of control, soldiers looting everything in their path and some even took the women to what looked like armored cars prepared specifically for the snow.

Amongst all this mess was me, I had come to this remote village because of a relic story, but only found a few clues before chaos broke out.

Deep into the night, taking advantage of the darkness and the snowstorm, they attacked the village, their superior formations, plus the most advanced weaponry to counter the humans, gave them a crushing victory.

That no longer mattered, it was time to flee from here. With my trusty sword and bow I began to run into the nearby woods while avoiding the soldiers.

"Stop there in the name of the king!"

With a few shouts in the back, I start to stop my movements, I can only manage to think Damn pigs and their fake kings.

"Calm down, by my weapons and clothes you must realize that I am one of you."

As I speak to him to appeal to his rationality, I turn around very slowly and show my sword gaining time to point to my clothes.

"What kingdom and city do you belong to?"

How the fuck should I know what kingdom these idiots belong to, there are about 40 of them all screaming that they legally own the land and beating the shit out of each other. One false step here and I'm dead.

"Your honor, I'm a poor adventurer and have no stable place of residence like all of our kind."

"I understand, then lower your hood and show your guild ID."

With two of his soldiers pointed at me, he moves to a closer area between us and holds out his hand.

"Sir, how would you know this line of work is brutal, I wouldn't want you to see my monstrous face after a failed job."

With that said I wait for his reaction, taking a few steps back, the soldier began to think and without even thinking he gave the order.

"Fire."

With just the movement of his lips he already knew what was coming, in a quick deployment of mana he used a basic spell.

"Light!"

"Boom" "Boom!"

Between the light of my magic and the gunfire only 2 seconds pass, I quickly slid into a house and took off running using it as cover.

The sacking of this village was accomplished quickly, the savages only had spears and bone swords. In truth this was not a difficult test, I guess the throne of the kingdom is mine.

With thoughts lost and sitting on my horse I advanced with a small squad of 6 men, at that moment I feel a disturbance in the mana followed by that several shots.

"Move!"

With a few words we quickly advance towards the source of the gunfire, already arriving there I see three soldiers firing towards the snow nearby.

"What's going on here?" he asked in an authoritative voice.

"Sir, one of the savages has escaped into the nearby woods."

Listening to his answers, I reach out my hand to the bow on my sword and begin to draw it while applying the necessary spells.

<bird's-eye view> <aiming shot> <cold arrow>.

Already with a view from above, the target located and marked, plus a bit of magic on the arrow. I release the bowstring.

MC pov

I was tired, the snow was making my steps heavier and the cold that seemed to be getting worse and worse doesn't help.

Already arrived in the forest, I calmed down while watching the tall pines that block any view of the clouds in the sky, I start to take a little break.

It wasn't time to stop, anything can happen in the open and I don't want to be here when it happens. With those thoughts I move with slow steps into the depths of the forest.

"Eh?"

With a silent, but clearly deadly pain, I fell helplessly to the ground. From my back stretched a small cover of frost marking it's handiwork of a magical attack.

It was the end of me, the cold took my body completely. The frost from the sword began to seep into the wound and my insides are like a popsicle.

Closing my eyelids, I accept my fate, you know this kind of life always ends like this.
