CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN:WHO WAS CAIN?

Cain got back to his boss's office after meeting reporter Kim, he couldn't get his mind off of the fact that he was getting himself and sister's life in danger.

Having to disobey Enzo's order just to protect his sister, was the only way he could save his sister from all this disastrous situation and he was ready to risk his life for Christie, because he knew that he can't ever forgive himself if anything should happen to Christie.

Cain opened the door to Enzo's office and came in noticing that Enzo was on a call that he didn't bother trying to find out what his conversation with the other person on the line was.

He just had to mind his business as usual and pretend Enzo wasn't there.

Cain was deep in thought when he was called back to reality as Enzo knowingly dropped a file on his table which made a sound that distracted Cain from his thoughts.

Cain's absent mindedness was really getting serious day by day which really got Enzo worried and annoyed at the same time.

"Go get the car ready" Enzo commanded as he was parking most of his needed office paperwork in his briefcase, which Cain responded immediately with a nod as he left the office while Enzo followed shortly.

Enzo noticed that all through the ride since after Avianna Queen's welcome back party with Cain has been usual quiet which was almost getting on his nerves but then again he had to calm down and mind his business since he has already order his boys to get him a background check up information on Cain because his attitude lately has made him curious to know more about him.

And noticing the way Cain has been looking at him from the front mirror it seems like he was guilty of something which he wasn't ready to talk about, his eyes said it all.

Enzo noticed everything that was going on with Cain but decided to keep his cool until a proper background check up had been made so he would know how to help him because not concentrating is also affecting his work.

Not long through the drive Cain stopped at the parking space of Enzo's house and came down from the car to get the car door open for his boss.

Enzo came down from the car and without saying a word to Cain, he left for the elevator.

Enzo went into his house and dropped his briefcase at the couch and went straight to the wine cellar to get something strong to drink while waiting for his boys to get back to him on Cain's case.

Enzo was standing at the window side staring down the lonely streets while sipping his drink as his other hand was in his pocket, waiting patiently for feedback on what he had assigned his boys to do.

Enzo has made peace with loneliness that he no longer mind staying all by himself drinking and smoking himself to sleep every night.

He has always blamed everything on Avianna Queen, she caused this, she is the reason for him being lonely, she was the reason why he has nobody to talk to, nobody to share his joy and pain with.

He would never forget the pain Avianna Queen has caused him and until he sees Avianna lonely with nobody to stand by her he won't stop.

The thought of revenge has been Enzo's only way out of stress and way to move on with life

Enzo was lost in thought when he had his phone ring from the couch where he had dropped his briefcase.

He picked his phone from the couch and answered the call and as expected it was his boys reporting back on what they found out about Cain.

With few words Enzo answered the call.

"Email me all the information. I will go through them myself," Enzo said as he dropped his phone and went to his laptop to check his emails.

He saw a few work emails but then he wasn't in the mood to work as he ignored the emails and opened the one that was sent to him a few minutes ago which was about Cain.

Enzo found out that Cain was an orphan with a sister who he has never mentioned to him about.

Enzo didn't put much meaning to anything as he saw it as a normal family situation where Cain has a sister that he was working hard to feed and take care of but then again something got his attention, his late parents was once workers at a fashion company which belonged to the Queens family and that automatically got his attention and build up his curiosity that he wanted to know more about Cain and his late parents.

Enzo was curious to know how and when Cain's parents were working for the Queens family and how long they worked for them most importantly how they died.

Enzo didn't really like the way this was going because it made him start to think if Cain was a spy but then again it was still very early to conclude on such as he wanted to be sure before starting to lay accusations.

Enzo went further with the information that was sent to him and found out that Enzo's sister was currently in country A in a particular hotel where he knew someone very familiar was staying but then again it meant be a coincidence he thought as he waved it out.

Enzo has come to trust Cain so much that he didn't want to start thinking that Cain was doing something behind his back

Enzo looked at his wrist watch and saw that it was already midnight he didn't know if he should continue checking out the information that was sent to him as he was already having a bad feeling about everything or if he should smoke and drink himself to sleep because he couldn't stop thinking what could be the reason why he was having mixed feelings about Cain.

Was Cain really the person he has always thought he was? Does Cain have any motive why he was working for him? Is Cain his enemy? Should he be worried about Cain? Has he always been faking his loyalty? Did he make a mistake employing Cain?

Enzo being a very sensitive person already has so many unanswered questions.

Who was Cain?

Enzo hoped that it was not what he was thinking because he was sensing that trust was about to be broken.
