Yman scratches his head and forced a dry laugh when he realized that the water passage was still too small for the monster to pass through.
He remembered what Mrs. Merced (the woman who issued the quest) said to him. That when he reached the dead end, there was a hole where a person can pass through to his left side. But Yman could not see it, the hole that she mentioned.
Suddenly, he heard Sistela's call: <Partner, there's something odd in the map.>
He then glanced at the map that was hanging steadily above him. He noticed a thin layer of the wall outline. Based on the map, it was located two steps away from his left side.
"Must be a camouflage." He muttered and summoned his spear from Cyber Storage.
He then pokes the part where the thin layer on the map was shown. Yman narrowed his eyes when the wall that looks so sturdy bend inwardly like a piece of something soft like it was made of cloth, a camouflage cloth to be specific.
|It's a well-made replica of the wall.| He thought. |But why such a thing placed in here? And who was the target to prevent getting inside with this camouflage?| Yman wondered. Yet, he reached in the conclusion that it might be placed here intentionally to avoid someone that was unaware of the danger that lurks around here to wander inside.
But of course, he wasn't sure if it was the real reason or not.
He proceeded to lift the cloth. Behind it was a hole that was done in a crude manner. Seeing this, he presumed that someone might be intentionally broke this part of the wall.
Yman realized something was odd. Mrs. Merced did not mention such a thing to him. She just said that there was a hole in the end. But did not say about the camouflage cloth.
Maybe she also doesn't know about it? Regardless, he needed to crouch slightly to enter the hole passage.
The squeaking noises were still can be heard from the other side of the wall. But Yman chose to disregard it for the meantime.
After he cautiously entered the hole, he was greeted by darker surroundings. The place was a little eerie with some kind of coldness in the atmosphere.
He saw a small gap on the wall ahead of him which he believed was an alley. As far as his eyesight could reach inside this dark room, there was no other corner or intersection that could be seen except for that little alley.
He proceeded at a careful pace. Like every step of him was measured. He also redied the Gladius sword at his front.
When he reached the alleyway, he decided to check on it first. But just after 15 steps of walk, he already faced the dead end. He also found out that only one person can pass inside because of how narrow the alley was.
Yman then retreated from the alley and continued advancing in the dark straight passage.
The holographic screen that was floating slightly above him was steadily drawing the map outline of the place as he continued to advance.
Every step he made was light and careful; to not make any unnecessary noises that could attract the lurking danger's attention. Nonetheless, his body that was slightly glowing in white brilliance was very attractive in this dark surrounding.
He still doesn't know how to absorb it into his body to minimize the use of mana like what one of the elders did.
However...
Not even 1 minute that had passed after he retreated from the alley when his ears caught some creaking noises ahead. Based on the noise, it seemed like the friction of claws that repeatedly brushing the wall.
Yman's heartbeat quickened a bit.
He really was not the type to be scared easily by a beast. But inside this dark and enclosed area, where all he could feel was an eerie feeling and cold surroundings, Yman's braveness was waning every second passed.
2 pairs of red eyes glowed in the dark ahead of him. Yman stopped his step immediately upon seeing this. He felt something cold was being poured behind him, and his heart was about to leap because of how sinister those eyes look.
When he noticed that they were coming closer to him at a rapid pace with the addition of stomping sounds against the ground, he readied himself for the fight while tightening his grip on the hilt of Gladius sword in his right hand.
Based on the eyes that positioned relatively close to the ground, these monsters must be ground type monsters and not flying types.
Actually, not only Evil Rats that could be seen inside the channel, there were some other monsters like Evil Bats, that usually hides here also.
His left hand hastily took a ball-shaped white cotton-like object as big as a golf ball from his Cyber Storage. After feeding it with little mana from his channeling talent, he threw it without a second thought on the ground about 5 steps away from him.
He could feel the decrease in his stamina after using his talent, even when he was in resonance with his deity. He needed to activate his channeling talent for the whole time. This was also the reason why he had a slow execution of his abilities.
<Partner, what is that?!> Sistela questioned him when she saw the ball-like object.
He did not answer immediately, yet, he threw another 4 pieces of it. 5 pieces of ball-like objects were scattered on the ground about 4-7 steps ahead of him.
"Just some toys made from spider webs." He answered after he thrown the five balls made from spider webs.
<S-pider webs?>
Seconds later, he finally saw the name and red bars on top of the enemy's heads when they closed at 10 meters distance away from him.
<Evil Rats!> Sistela screamed out.
"Their data!"
<Both are rank D monsters!>
"....."
"That's it?!"
<Hmph, if you meant to appraise them, then buy me a head first!> Sistela reacted.
"What—" Yman was like he just eaten his words. He really thought that if the deity had the data of a specific monster or beast, he/she could appraise it.
But it looks like, he needed to buy the head part of the deity first to unlock their appraisal talent.
|In that case, no choice, huh! I must use this finishing touch!| After saying this in his mind, he threw on the ground another ball-shaped object but this time with gray color.
The gray-colored ball-shaped object landed near those five white cotton-like ball-shaped objects. After it hit the ground, smoke suddenly raises around it. But it wasn't so thick.
Actually, this thing was a smoke bomb, but it only smokes a little. The good thing on it was, it lowered the enemy's vision for a few seconds.
Regardless, he noticed the monsters were already neared him. The one that was running ahead of the other had blindly stepped on one of the ball-shaped objects.
It suddenly stopped like something was holding it, and its head hit the ground by itself.
And the number -50 in red color was visibly floating above the monster's head.
These balls that held the monster was very sticky. After all, it was made from the web of a Wanderer type of monster, the rank C+ Mustang Spider.
