Chapter 14: If a Tree Falls in Tokyo

Arata Kirishima the Corpse Collector. A legend in the man universe and a deserved one at that.

He was a kind ghoul, a pacifist but would come to change after the death of his wife. He started to hunt ghouls and humans alike even scavenging there bodies where he could trying to become a Kakuja.

This was all behind the back of his children, Touka and Ayato. He would achieve his goal in vain however as he would die by the hand of a particularly powerful human after achieving such.

In this life however it seems he survived. The Corpse Collector lives and he was right here in front of the man.

Touka, stunned walks towards her father, "Dad?" He shows no response, almost catatonic. "Dad?" She repeats, almost in tears now.

She reaches her father and wraps her arms around him, "Dad?" She calls out once more. This time a response is heard, "Tou...ka..." He answers with a weak breath.

The man looks at the damage on the body of Arata, the scarring on his body. Especially around where his kagune forms, it seems the CCG has be removing his kagune to create weapons.

"Touka?" Arata says again, more clarity this time. "Dad." She replies, tears now trickling down her face.

The man smiles at this, but it's time to end it. "I'm sorry for the interruption, but we have work to do. I'll give you leave after this mission Touka." The man looks at the crying pair, "You've earned it."

Touka smiles and nods. Standing back up she quickly removes the chains from around her father. The man gives and order for Karao to defend him as they move back to the entrance.

They are greeted with a scene of ghouls and investigators engaging in an intense battle. It had seemed that the CCG had assigned a lot of importance into defending the prison.

These investigators include five Special Class Investigators and seven Associate Special Class Investigators. Associate Special Class Investigators are already powerful enough being able to equal the likes of Kaneki, Jirou and Karao in combat.

Special Class on the other hand are a completely different beast. Each being able to go toe to toe with Shuu, Touka and Matasaka in single combat. Karren and Kaya are able to hold them off barely.

The mans smiles at this sight however, he knows the faces of all Special Class, through Itori. First Kiyoko Aura, arguably the most powerful female investigator in the world. She is compassionate and fair, not worthy of a cruel end such as this.

Then there's Iwao Kuroiwa. He another good man, a man with honour and integrity. He also has the skill to match his status.

After Iwao is Mougan Tanakamura. Another good man put in the wrong situation. Flamboyant and kind, another man who doesn't deserve to die.

Next is Matsuri Washuu. A cold, calculated and cruel man. He is a member of the Washuu Clan and therefore a ghoul. He is perhaps the only investigator that deserves to die hers.

Finally there's Yukinori Shinohara along with his ward Juuzou Suzuya. Yukinori is good man, raising the trouble child Juuzou like a son.

Juuzou on the other hand is a killer through and through. But he is in no way evil, he was raise by ghouls to kill and that ghoul is now dead by the mans hand.

The man can see Shuu, Karren and Kaya trying to hold off the Special Class Investigators but are getting driven back handily.

The man sends Kaneki, Jirou, Fuka and Touka to help fight off the Special Class. Shuu and Touka managing to hold one each alone. Kaneki and Fuka are holding off the Yukinori and Juuzou combo.

Karren and Kaya are working together to fight another, whilst Jirou distracts the last. She is using her camouflage to keep her alive.

The man on the other hand charges at the Associate Special Class's and rips two to shreds before the rest can do anything. Now a five on one the man gives them one chance, "Run little Doves." He says with a sadistic smile on his face, although only his mouth is visible from under his mask.

The Special Class's see the mans danger and try to reinforce the Associates, but are being held off by the mans subordinates.

Only Mougen is able to reinforce as Jirou could not stop him from escaping, she does however follow him and quickly assassinate one of the Associates leaving four.

The man glances at Mougen before charging again at the nearest Associate, killing them. Jirou in the meantime still hasn't been noticed and kills another.

With only Mougen and two Associates the man decides to focus on the bigger threat, leaving the two Associates to Jirou.

The man charges at the large man, exchanging fast blows with him. Mougen however is out of luck, the man releases his kagune whilst they're in a standoff.

The man runs Mougen through the chest and rips his body to pieces. He licks his lips and walks towards Matsuri and before anyone has even realised Mougen has died, appears right behind him.

Using his blades to stab Matsuri through the throat, the end of the blade sticking out of his mouth and lifting him up into the air whilst still being alive.

The mans shouts, "BE QUITE!!!" He jumps to a high vantage point to allow himself to be seen better. All have stopped fighting, there eyes on his and the flailing body of Matsuri.

"You have lost Doves, you will leave this ward to us or, well...." The man smirks before looking to Matsuri, "This!"

The man rips Matsuri in half in a similar way to what he did to Mougen. He smiles back to the crowd again, "We are Chaos..." The mans smile lowers, "and we want Tokyo."

At this point the Investigators have started to back away from the ghouls, in a full scale retreat. All bar one, Juuzou.

He continues to look at the man in awe. Yukinori tries to pull him away but before he can, Juuzou runs towards the man. The man smiles at the boy, Yukinori screaming at him to stop. The man catches the boy, who starts to claw at the mans torso like a playful cat.

You see Juuzou believes he is the perfect combatant, second to none. Now however he has found his better and to him the brutal movements are beautiful.

Yukinori and the other investigators leave the 23rd Ward, the ghouls had won and the man couldn't be any happier.

(3 Days Later)

After the Cochlea incident things have been progressing smoothly. Juuzou has become a member of the family, quickly coming to see the man as a father and Karao as a brother. He has been training along with them too, learning at an incredible speed.

After the battle the man gave the ghouls present the same option as always, join or die and the all smartly decided to join. He then placed Kaya in charge along with her Black Dobers to run the prison turned base with an iron fist.

Four more important players have joined his side, the first being Matasaka. Matasaka feeling grateful to the man for his rescue and for protecting his old gang joined with little difficulty.

Naki was next to join, due to both feelings of gratitude and the duty to serve the person who defeated his old master.

Then there's Arata, who has been slowly getting better as time passes and is fully sane again. He agreed to serve the man, for protecting his daughter and training her.

Soon after news of Arata being freed had reach the rest of Tokyo the man was visited by the Black Rabbit, Ayato. He wanted to see his father and after a long discussion decided to join the man, quickly going back to purge the Aogiri loyalist from it.

This would mean that Chaos had gained three more wards to bolster its number, them being the 23rd, 15th and 19th. Chaos had also through the rioting they had cause during the prison break had captured two more wards, the 8th and 22nd Ward.

The 8th was easily captured during the riot due to Shuu and his Tsukiyama family and it branches as they have long set up shop on the ward. He now leads it along with Karren.

The 22nd Ward was taken with a joint effort of the remaining ghouls of the 23rd with help from the seventh. This ward is now run by Enji with the support of his Apes.

This makes fourteen out of the twenty four wards under the mans control and both his enemies are blinded by hatred of each other to work together to fight him.
