CHAPTER - 24 { Mega Evolution }

Under the sunny sky, in the backyard, Kota sat on the even grass with his eyes on the giant mutated green pokemon egg.

With the shades of black and dark green, the egg absorbed the warm heat from the sun rays in the open.

"Chaa!"

Beside the egg, Charizard twitched his toes and enjoyed the pleasant weather. The tiny pores in his tough and rough skin opened up giving him a weightless feeling.

"Sir, here's some cold chocolate shake."

Ariya walked to Kota and handed him a large glass cup filled with cold chocolate. Then he turned towards Charizard and smiled.

"And this is for you, a special pokemon food powered shake best for fire type pokemon."

A much larger glass cup with red colored drink was headed to Charizard. The strong and sharp scent of the drink attracted him quickly.

"Chaa!"

Thanking, Charizard tasted the drink and was immediately hypnotized by it.

Within two gulps, he drank it all. Ariya took the glass cup and went to refill it for Charizard.

Woosh!

With shift movement, Suicune appeared next to Kota and rested on the soft grass.

Not just them, but Golem, Croconaw and Sentret were also free and enjoying the sunny day today.

"Hurry up little one, what exactly have you become?"

Muttered Kota. He eyed the egg with a curious gaze. He was well aware of what pokemon egg it was but due to mutation, things might not remain the same.

Charizard lifted the egg and placed it gently on his lap. He was very careful so that his sharp claws wouldn't harm the egg shell.

As they looked at the egg and observed it, suddenly the egg started glowing.

Crack!

It was so sudden that no one could react. The top part of the egg shell cracked up and a pokemon head peeked out.

This newborn pokemon had a blunt spike protruding from its head, its face had a sharp and intimidating appearance.

Around the eyes, there were black marks. The first thing it saw was Kota, staring at it with surprise.

Then raising its head, it looked up to see a huge red face staring down at it with a slight tilt. On the left side of it, there was another creature, this one looked kind and gentle.

"Larvitar!"

It loudly declared. With a little more strength, Larvitar broke the egg shell and freed itself.

"It's really different from the rest."

Kota examined Larvitar and found it to be bigger and heavier. Its skin was much harder and darker in color.

"Hey, I am Kota. This is Charizard and this is Suicune."

Kota introduced himself and his pokemon to Larvitar with a smile. In return, he got a bright stare.

"Larvitar!"

Jumping from Charizard's lap, Larvitar stepped on the grass and felt the soft sensation.

Then it hopped and looked around the world. Its eyes shifted from one to another, everything was its first after all.

"Did it already hatch?"

A male voice sounded surprising to Larvitar and causing it to hide behind Charizard's tail.

"I surprised it! I am terribly sorry."

Apologized Ariya with a bow to Larvitar. He was so silent and quick that it became a fact to take note of.

"Larvitar."

Responded Larvitar with a nod. Even if it didn't understand anything Ariya said, it still sensed that he meant no harm.

Just like Kota, Charizard and Suicune.

"Come here. Come come!"

Ariya waved his hands and gestured to Larvitar to come over towards him. Then when Larvitar walked before him with caution, Ariya tried to lift it up carefully.

Unfortunately, the sounds of metal ringing and short circuits made him stop.

"Auh, it's slightly heavier than expected."

Said Ariya awkwardly as he retreated his hands from Larvitar. Kota nodded, he also couldn't lift Larvitar due to the weight.

'Bigger doesn't always mean better, I guess.'

Thought Kota. But that's only for him, Charizard easily lifted Larvitar up in his arms.

"Chaa."

"Larvitar!"

The two seem to understand each other. Charizard threw Larvitar up in the air and caught it again.

"Larvitar!"

Seeing Larvitar smile and giggle, Kota decided that Charizard will be its guardian.

"Charizard, is there a mother hiding inside you?"

Asked Kota with a plain voice. Charizard stopped for a second, his face turned ugly as he put Larvitar down on the grass.

"Chaa!"

Roared Charizard, hot flames shot from his mouth in the air. Larvitar watched this display of flames with shining eyes.

"Larvitar!"

It also copied Charizard and roared loudly. But nothing came out of its wide open mouth. Even so, it didn't lose hope and roared again.

"Chaa!"

Charizard once again showed his powerful fire breath to Larvitar. The latter was truly interested and wanted to do it.

"Haha. Larvitar, you can't do it. You are not a fire type pokemon so… but you can do other stuff."

Said Kota with a small smile. Larvitar tilted its head and looked at Kota with confusion.

Was it different from Charizard?

Being a newborn, it didn't really know anything about types and moves so it nodded its head with a serious expression.

That didn't mean it wasn't impressed by Charizard's fire breath. It might not be able to achieve it now, but the future was unpredictable.

Professor Oak's Lab___

Sitting before the huge monitor, Professor Oak was talking to some of the most famous researchers and scientists of the world.

"So, you mean to say that a fully evolved pokemon still has a chance for another evolution which you all call Mega Evolution?"

Asked Oak. On the monitor, decided in six parts with one person on each part, a white bearded man replied to him with a nod.

"It's an interesting subject. I would like to ask if there's any clip of such Mega Evolution."

Oak requested them, one of the researchers, immediately send some footage of the very first experimented Mega Evolution.

The one who sent the footage to Oak was Professor Sycamore, regional pokemon professor from Kalos region.

The first Mega Stone found was also from Kalos region. So if someone knew about this Mega Evolution the most, it would be him.

"Professor Sycamore, I have seen it but my eyes truly can't believe it. It's really possible."

Oak rubbed his eyes and did his best to contain the excitement erupting in his old bones.

"It's true Professor Oak, you're not dreaming. No one believed it at first."

Responded Sycamore while smiling. The others on the monitor also nodded.

"We are gathering the best trainers throughout the whole world for the next experiment. And it's an important one."

The white bearded man, Riccky Rocks, said with a serious voice. Then, he sent some notes to Oak and the rest.

"A test? But do we have enough Mega Stones and Key Stones for them?"

Asked Oak with worry.

"Don't worry, I have collected six Key Stones and twenty five Mega Stones. It should be enough as we need only six trainers for now."

Replied Riccky. He was one of the most famous professors, right after Professor Oak. His most noticeable work was the discovery of a new pokemon in Manetomes.

He also created the best research Institution in the whole world, World Pokemon Research (W.P.R.). Which is situated in the Sinnoh region.

"I do know a few trainers, but right now the best would be only one. And I guess Professor Plum already knows of him."

Saying so, Oak looked at the only female professor of the six people on the monitor.

Professor Plum, or the full name, Si Plum Zaiaku, mother of Skotadi Zaiaku.

Known for being the best pokemon biologist in the entire world. She created many medicines and methods to help pokemon trainers and their pokemon.

"You are talking about my son, Kota? He won the Indigo League and is the best in that region. No one could be better for this than him."

Plum felt proud at the mention of her son, any mother would. It's been years since she last met with him and talked but that doesn't affect her love for her son at all.

"Ya. But Kota doesn't really like you."

Muttered Oak in a low voice but Plum had heard it. Her face turned red in rage. Still, she didn't refute his words.

It was true. Kota started ignoring her when he turned 10. At first she thought it was the work of puberty only later did she find it wasn't.

Kota just became someone else from that year. He grew distant. Alas she couldn't change the past anymore.

"Sorry about that. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."

Apologized Oak with an embarrassed expression. The rest were in an awkward situation.

"Forget about these things, let's refocus on the Mega Evolution matter."

With Sycamore's voice, the uneasiness and tensed atmosphere turned around.
