Lies In Honesty

As the news about the Ngobeni family disgraceful losses to Mr. Masombuka spread across the upper class of Bongburg, Tristin was in class minding his own business and not paying attention to the lessons, since he has covered most of the semester while he was on the two weeks break.

His phone suddenly vibrated, it was a text from Mr. Masombuka; "young master, I did as you request and the news about what happened has already reached the upper class in Bongburgs." It said.

"So soon, this means someone in the Ngobeni family sold the news or the other family has planted spies in the Ngobeni family." Tristin thought as he reads the text.

"You didn't get injured right?" Tristin replied with his own text.

Mr. Masombuka: "No, I'm not but thanks young master, I only depleted my qi energy but with the help of the meridian recharging pill, I'll be fine in about few hours."

Tristin: "Good. Be safe and don't come out till you are fully charged, I'm sure the Ngobeni family is looking for you as we speak."

Soon the two finished texting each other, Mr. Masombuka rested in his hideout, Tristin continued with his school work. Lerato and some students also received the news about what Mr. Masombuka did at the Ngobeni residence, soon the whole school knew about the event.

"Thomas used to act like a bigshot but since he lost to Tristin, things are not going well for him and his family." One student said as she joined the gossip.

"Not only that, he has been absent from school ever since, what's even more shocking, is that Lerato is dating Tristin, who defeated Thomas and it seems like he's friends with that security guard." Another student jumped in.

"Yeah, the way they both fought against the Black Phoenix gang, looked like they've known each other for some time." One student said with his hand on his chin.

Mdu also learned about the news from his father Mr. Nkosi. "What is Tristin planning against the Ngobeni family; this is no longer about him and Thomas?" Mdu wondered.

Lerato also heard what the students were saying about the relationship between Tristin and Mr. Masombuka. "After I arrived home yesterday, I did ask father to look into that security guard, he was born and raised here and he doesn't have any connection to Tristin or all that info was incorrect?" She wondered

As Lerato was busy asking herself all kinds of questions, the lunch bell rang, all students rushed to que for food at the cafeteria. Lerato walked to Tristin who was packing his books with Max.

"Tristin, can we talk?" She asked as she raised her eyebrows. "I need to know what is really going on here, is he using me to divide the family or all this is just a coincidence." She thought.

Tristin looked at her eyes. "Haaaa." He sighs as he looked at her teary eyes. "I really didn't consider how she will feel about all this." He thought before he said; "sure, we can talk." He looked at Max; "I'll catch you later, make sure you order something for me." He said to him with a light pat on his shoulder.

Max, left the classroom after he gave a nod to Tristin, Tristin took a seat and looked at Lerato who was standing. "Sit down." He said as he made gesture with his hand.

Lerato didn't waste time and took Max's seat; he looked Tristin in the eyes. "Tristin, I know that I said I wouldn't ask but I feel like I have too, please just this once, be honest with me." She pleaded, her eyebrows raised as he clenched her hands like she was praying.

Tristin took a deep breath and looked at the white ceiling before he looked at Lerato. "Sure, I'll be as honest as I can be." He said his eyes narrowed.

Lerato narrowed her eyes as well. "Tristin, do you have grudge against my family and are you using me to anger Thomas?" She asked her voice low and soft.

"Honestly, I don't have a grudge against your family, in your family, I only know you and Thomas, the rest, I didn't even cross path with any of them. As for you, at first I thought it would be fun to mess with Thomas a bit but after knowing you a bit, I took a liking to you, you are smart, talented, beautiful, strong and exceptional kind, it's hard not to fall for someone like you." He said looking into her eyes with his eyebrows rose.

"I see." She said as she looked down while playing with her fingers, her face a bit red. "What is your relationship with that security guard?" she asked

"I don't know him that much, I only met him when I first came to this school, since then we talked a few times about martials arts." He said looking to her eyes. "Sorry my relationship with Mr. Masombuka must remain as speculations for the time being." He thought.

"That's impossible, I saw the way you two fight, that teamwork can only come from training together for a very long time." She said with a cold voice, her face frown, her eyebrows narrowed.

Tristin looked at her with a smile as he thought; "yeah, that teamwork was a bit flashy but I got this." He reassured himself. "You are a skilled martial artist Lerato but you have never been in real battle, haven't you?" He asked

"What does that have to do with anything?" She asked with a frown

"It has to do with everything; somethings can only be learned through life and death battles, I have picked up a lot of tricks in the past few mounts." Tristin said as he recalls how he escaped the car crash that took his parents and how he fought his way out from his uncle, he sighs as he looked up.

"I still don't see your point here." Lerato said as she raises her left eyebrow

"I was able to fight with Mr. Masombuka that well because of experience, fighting is like dancing and with experience, you'll be able listen to the rhythm, it will enable you to see your enemy or your partner's moves. He said folding his arms

"Are you saying you were reading his qi energy, that's why you were in sync with him?" She asked again with a frown face.

"Yes, the reason why most skilled martial artist only focus on channeling their qi energy faster, is that they don't want to give the enemy enough time to read their moves but I've took it to the next level, my level of reading qi energy has surpassed intuition and prediction." Tristin said proudly

Lerato looked at Tristin with her eyes wide open. "That day at the cafeteria, you also read my qi energy, that's why you didn't try to dodge or block Thomas's punch." She murmured to herself then looked at Tristin. "Is it okay to tell me all this, aren't afraid that I'll tell Thomas or his father?" She asked with narrowed eyes.

Tristin chuckled a bit and placed his hands on Lerato's shoulders. "It really doesn't matter to me if they know or not, only you matter the most to me." He said with a smile.

Lerato also smiled a bit, her face turn red. "Come on, let's go to eat, I'm satisfied now." she said as she dragged Tristin off the chair.

"You sure, aren't there anything else you want to ask?" Tristin asked as he stood up.

"Not at all, regardless of what you could have said, I would still be on your side, I am a Ngobeni but in their eyes, I'm more of an outsider, sooner or later they will want to marry me off to some big family for their benefits, I don't even have a say in the family, so I don't mind if you fight them since I'll be marrying you." She said as she held his arm, her boobs pressing against his arm.

Tristin looked at her with his eyes wide open. "Marriage, isn't that a bit too soon?" He murmured as he thought; "it would be great to marry her after I have settled everything."

"Don't think about it now, let's go." Lerato said as she dragged him out of the classroom.

The two joined their friends for lunch, soon the bell rang and the afternoon classes began. The news about the Ngobeni family kept making waves and more people laughed at the Ngobeni family, especially at the head of the Ngobeni family.

Soon it was afterschool, Lerato went to Tristin again. "Tristin come with me to the mall." She said looking at Tristin.

"Huh, don't you need to rush home?" He asked with a frown face.

Lerato also looked at Tristin with narrowed eyes as she folds her arms. "There's nothing I can do to change what happen, plus since no one has called me, I guess I'm not needed at home." She said

"Alright then, let's go." Tristin said as he shook his head with a smile.
