Chapter 15 - Aptitude Test

Maeisha took a deep breath and put her hand on the stone and let a sliver of soul force inject in to the stone from her palm.

A little while later, the testing stone's surface emitted a layer of white glow.

She looked on without blinking, however, four five seconds after the glow appeared, nothing changed on the surface of the testing stone. Just as she was feeling puzzled a voice suddenly popped up.

"Look, it appeared!"

The one who spoke was Cain, he stared above her with shining eyes.

She followed his gaze and saw an unforgettable scene, the testing stone was about two meters tall and at the peak, there slowly seeped out a pink coloured rainbow strip.

Unlike others who could see it without raising their heads, she had to. Her height was a pain in her heart, she thought bitterly.

The coloured strip started to elongate and when it changed from yellow to green and started to advance, something flashed across Alfan's eyes. As expected, her grade was higher.

The expressions on her family's faces slowly turned to shock. The speed at which the coloured strip continued to lengthen did not show any signs of slowing down. A few seconds later, it happily crossed the green square…

As if her prayers had been heard, the green square was full and the blue square was steadily being filled up, carrying her hope along with it as it inched forward.

Everyone held their breaths. The blue square was full and the next was the purple square.

Maei only felt that that the moment was exceptionally long. Her eyes were tired from staring at the coloured strip without blinking and her neck hurt from craning to watch it.

Slowly the indigo strip was also filled up and it inched towards black, but it was still not slowing down and kept inching forward slowly.

Then it filled up the black strip and went on to sliver before stopping in the middle.

Everyone was speechless.

Maei's aptitude wasn't any less than her grandfather's and they were consoling her yesterday that it was ok to not have Martial Spirit.

Grandfather Alfan exploded with loud laugh, "As expected of my darling." And slapped her on her shoulders strongly which almost made Maei fall.

That was when Dad Owen said exasperatedly, "Dad let her finish her test before celebrating."

Everyone was laughing and crying at the same time. There was no need to worry about their little baby anymore. She was going to be fine.

Maeisha also laughed and put her soul force into the stone again.

The result of the martial spirit was the same as before and another strip for support talent appeared.

This coloured strip also started to elongate and more quickly than before.

It went from Pink to Orange to Yellow to Green to Teal to Blue to purple in just a few seconds.

The family was already numb by now.

After completing purple it went on to indigo before slowing down. It crept upto black and then stoped in the middle.

Everyone took a sharp breadth in.

Not only was Maei good in Cultivation but also good in support talent.

This time grandfather Alfan was too speechless to say anything and couldn't react. So she kept pouring soul force inside the stone.

Soon the lines of martial spirit and support talent disappeared and only a white glow started to emit from the stone.

"Don't stop. Now we will know your elemental power."

Maei nodded and didn't stop, and continued pouring the soul force.

For a period of time nothing happened and just as everyone thought that she didn't have any elemental power the stone suddenly emitted a very bright silver light.

The light was white in the middle before turning silver as it glowed outwards.

It almost blinded everyone.

Seeing this Grandfather's Jaw dropped and so did everyone else's.

"Ok darling, you can stop now."

"Grandfather what did the silver light at the end mean."

Papa Owen replied with tears in his eyes, "It means you have one of the rare elements. Very few people have been documented to have this element. Currently only 10 people in the empire have it and you are the 11th."

She waited expectantly with wide eyes.

Grandfather Alfan smiled, "Its ice element and a Top grade one. Maei today you have surprised grandfather very much. Such good talent is rarely seen and is one of the best in our family."

She was very happy to receive grandfather's approval.

Then grandfather Alfan's expression changed from that to a serious one.

"Darling though you have very good talent , a lot of times it's not just natural talent and it's smooth sailing from there, hard work is just as important. To us, a talent is like a base, once you have a base, how you strengthen that is up to one's efforts. However, there are also ones who naturally take less detours on their path and you will be one of them."

"Since ancient times its always been, the greater the talent the greater the responsibility. So prepare yourself mentally. Since heaven has granted you such a talent you will have a bigger mission to complete. From today you will receive all the support you will need from the family to grow stronger but remember if you waste our efforts I can stop it as well."

Maei also grew serious, "Grandfather don't worry. I will not waste your efforts or break your trust. I will work hard to become someone you will be proud of and contribute to the growth of the family."

She didn't care about why heaven had given her such power as long as she could protect the people she loved. As for the heaven's mission, well she didn't care much for it. She was not a saint. If she could do it she would but not if it meant putting her loved ones at risk.

Grandfather and Grandmother Demaris were proud and couldn't wait to show off their granddaughter to the old man next door, who was always boasting about his grandson. This time it was their turn. Hmph!!

Mama Brianna and Mama Lena wiped the tears in their eyes and promised to support their girl and not stand in her road ahead. She was destined to do great things.

Papa Owen, Lorcan and Cain decided they would teach Maei everything they knew so that she could get a head start before she goes to school. Then they will boast to their friends about how they have the best baby girl ever.

Everyone was very happy and Grandfather gave the order for celebrations in the afternoon with the rest of the family....
