The Infernal Architect

Reincarnated into his past self, Tyler is given the chance to correct his biggest mistake. He rediscovers the Liber Infernus- an ancient tome penned by a fallen celestial. [By wielding this book, you gain access to the lost knowledge and inventions and oblige to being the new infernal architect! However, the price you must pay is your humanity. You must accept to turn into a demon and brace all its downsides. Do you consent?] Tyler stared calmly at the book as a smirk silently rose on his lips. "Yes!" Just that simple word was enough to change his fate for the better and stop the impending apocalypse from ever happening. Or was it? His fate will change, alright. But for the better? - I highly doubt that!

Randolph and Kyle Vonstriek

Harvard, Tyler's injured dad, was already struggling to make himself sit upright. How could he take this news lying down?

Tyler heard his pained grunts as he struggled and quickly rushed to his side to help him up.

"Dad, don't fluster yourself too much. My spirit just awakened, it just happened a little late it's nothing special," Tyler's eyes were tinged with worry as he observed Harvard's condition.

His body was bruised all over, mostly his face. There were stitches on his chin— a clear indication there was a gushing wound there previously. He had one purple eye and a burst lip.

If they were still wealthy, his injuries could have been healed instantly by using a healing pellet; unfortunately, they weren't.

Although Harvard had a couple of million credits saved up, he couldn't bring himself to use them because they were meant to send his two kids to the academy. Although Tyler was confirmed spiritually disabled a few months back, he still intended to send Tyler to an engineering school because he had a penchant for machines— that way his son could do what he loved and wouldn't be so much affected by the fact that he was spiritually crippled.

Tyler knew Harvard's reasoning and it made his heart tinge with pain. His father would rather suffer fatal injuries than let him feel like he was useless.

Tyler glanced at his watch before smiling and looking at every one of his family.

It was about time for Randolph to show up and demand his parents' shares of the company.

Previously, his parents stubbornly refused to do so which resulted in them being pressured constantly until they were chased out of the mansion. Although they retained their shares, it was only so in name. With power, even legal documents were mere papers.

"Mom, Dad, Chloe. We shall talk about this later.....I need to excuse myself,"

With that, Tyler left the room and shut the door behind him. Contrary to what his family thought, Tyler had walked a short distance down the hallway and just stood there while counting seconds on his watch.

He was finally going to meet the people who ruined his life previously. He slowly lost count of the time and his memories surged.

His senses had turned numb and everything happening all around him had become nonexistent to him as he was immersed in the hateful memories. Only the sound of his heart beating echoed in his ears.

Randolph was his dad's older adopted brother. Unlike Harvard, Randolph was considered a talent.

His path in cultivation was one trailed by many fruits.

He usually stayed out of their lives as he worked in the military. But he was expelled for reasons unknown.

When he returned, he had nothing to his name. He couldn't get any employment even if he tried. It was like some bigshot had blacklisted him from working for anyone so Randolph became a poor man despite his talent.

When Tyler's parents struck it rich, Randolph begged to join the company, and Harvard, being a kind person, accepted.

Who would have known, that the person they showed mercy back then would bite them in the backs and drive them to such a deep ditch?

Randolph now busked in wealth that was meant to be theirs.

Randolph's son, Kyle was just like his father — literally. Kyle often bullied Tyler in ordinary school after his parents lost the company to Randolph.

He would hire other boys to do the job for him and he would never face punishment.

Tyler faced all kinds of humiliation and suffering under Kyle.

Tyler kept his hope burning with the thought that once his spirit awakened, he would be able to regain the company and do the same to Kyle.

Unfortunately, all those hopes died when it was confirmed he was spirit disabled.

Tyler's senses returned when the last second of the minute was up. The metallic scent of blood and the smell of medicine assaulted his nose while the sound of crying and screams bombarded his ears.

He could see nurses walking up and down the place. A bloody patient would be rolled in and out frantically as the medical officers tried to stabilize their condition.

Off at the side, a group of individuals patiently waited to be attended to. Some were coughing, others whizzing. It was unfortunate no one was paying them any attention despite their sickly appearance.

A hospital was a place where new life was brought in and death happened. People suffering was a common scene here. However, it didn't have to be.

With the rediscovery of spiritual energy, special herbs were found— they could be refined into pellets for recovery.

In fact, 99% of the people in the hospital would have recovered in an instant if they were given just one recovery pellet.

Unfortunately, human nature revealed itself— powerful people monopolized pellets and the government regulations made it so only the wealthy could have access to them, leaving the common folk in the hands of outdated painful medical procedures.

It wasn't fair at all!

Among the people on the waiting bench, one of them collapsed fell to the ground, and started convulsing profusely. A group of nurses immediately came to the rescue but they couldn't salvage the situation. In just 5 breaths of time, that person was pronounced dead.

He was covered with a white bedsheet and carried away to the morgue and everything returned to normal as no one had died.

Tyler ground his teeth in hatred, his fists clenched to the point of whiteness, yet— he didn't do anything.

He hated the whole system, those people in powerful positions, the government! Why did they have to monopolize such resources despite their easy manufacture?!

It was actions like these that made Tyler hate humanity!

They convinced him that humans were indeed worse than monsters that act on instinct. Humans make decisions to kill, just for their benefit.

That person didn't have to die in front of him if recovery pellets were made public.

Tyler's gaze soon fell on some new arrivals.

-Randolph and Kyle Vonstriek!

A well-toned man who looked to be no older than thirty donned a well-fitting designer's grey suit. His hair was dyed grey at the top, and the sides were trimmed in a fade. His gaze was menacing and dangerous, his expression grumpy.

He had a goatee and a mustache which were also grey like the top of his head.

He walked with a black cane that radiated with power— its handle curved like a dragon's head.

The man didn't limp so that could only mean the cane was some time of weapon — a cane sword perhaps which made him all the more dangerous.

Beside him, a lean boy almost his height, with the same suit and hairstyle holding the same type of cane.

"Kill them! Make them suffer!"

-Shut up...I'm not strong enough.

However much Tyler wanted to do as his conscience told him, he knew he wouldn't stand a chance.

He immediately walked and entered their line of sight, standing in front of them.

"I greet Uncle Randolph and Cousin Kyle," he kneeled on one knee and kept his head bowed.

"Oh?"

Randolph and Kyle were surprised. More so because Tyler's appearance had changed. They could immediately tell that his spirit had awakened but none of them spoke about it.

"Tyler, how is your father doing right now," Kyle started, wearing a mocking fake sad expression, "I had what happened. It was an accident on my father's part. Please don't take it to heart."

That was Kyle to you— shrewd and thick-skinned. He never got his hands dirty but would use others to do the work. These were all things he learned from his father Randolph.

Tyler knew it was all a facade from Kyle but just ignored it. Only heavens knew how much he wanted to strangle Kyle and his father to death right now.

"Uncle Randolph, I have a deal for you,"

"Hmph!" Almost instantly Kyle scoffed, "Look at your poor miserable life. You're even poorer than a church mouse yet you want to make a deal with my father?! Outr..."

"Let him speak," Randolph wore a playful smirk on his face. He was curious to see what prompted such a statement from his "nephew".

"I'm sorry father, you taught me to be composed. I apologize for letting you down." With that, Kyle retreated and assumed a noble and calm composure.

Tyler couldn't help but scoff inwardly. Kyle was hellbent on being exactly like his father— it was ridiculous.

"I'm going to hand over my parent's shares to you. All I'm requesting is that you allow my family to stay in the mansion for a few more months. After, you can also have the mansion,"

If Tyler's parents were here to listen to Tyler's words, they would have died of a stroke!

The smile on Randolph's face grew considerably.

"It is settled. I'll wait for the papers, Kyle- let's go."

After the father and son pair left, Tyler rose from his knee and his emerald green eyes flashed with a golden glow for a moment.

- Randolph, this is the first and last time I'm bowing to you. The next time, you will be the one to bow before me!
