The Infernal Architect

Reincarnated into his past self, Tyler is given the chance to correct his biggest mistake. He rediscovers the Liber Infernus- an ancient tome penned by a fallen celestial. [By wielding this book, you gain access to the lost knowledge and inventions and oblige to being the new infernal architect! However, the price you must pay is your humanity. You must accept to turn into a demon and brace all its downsides. Do you consent?] Tyler stared calmly at the book as a smirk silently rose on his lips. "Yes!" Just that simple word was enough to change his fate for the better and stop the impending apocalypse from ever happening. Or was it? His fate will change, alright. But for the better? - I highly doubt that!

Spirit awaken!

"Did he pick up?" a tired hoarse feminine voice spoke. The owner of the voice was a woman sitting beside a man sleeping on a hospital bed. Her hair, black and curly, cascaded down to her shoulders and a few disheveled parts fell over her eyes, beneath, dark circles spoke of her fatigue. Her face was pale, her lips chappy and peeling— she didn't look like she was in a good condition. She was donned in a plain grey shirt and black pants— a few stains of blood stained her grey shirt.

Setting aside her stressed and sickly appearance, she looked beautiful.

The man sleeping beside her could be said to be in a worse state than her- his shirt was stained with a lot more blood than hers. He was currently unconscious and had his head wrapped with thin bandages— a tale that he had taken an injury to the head.

Even in his sleep, he didn't look to be at peace at all.

In the hospital room, aside from them, there was a young beautiful girl, around 15 years of age. She wore blue jean shorts, a pink crop top, and on her back, a pink backpack. Her long brown hair was tied into two ponytails giving her a young ethereal aura. She had brown eyes, that resembled the older woman in the room. Her face had a lively healthy appearance but her worried expression, deeply settled, told a story that she had heavy worries pressing down her heart.

She was still too young to be occupied with worries but sadly, circumstances couldn't allow it.

She was standing by a window that on-looked a beautiful city below, her eyes deeply focussed on her phone, her hands typing away anxiously. The morning sunlight cascaded her flawless face and illuminated her eyes.

"Not yet," she answered anxiously.

She dialed a number once again and placed her phone next to her ear while biting her nails.

After a few more seconds, she groaned when the call was picked up.

She turned around to face the woman and was just about to dial the number again when a sudden knock on the door interrupted the somber atmosphere.

Shortly after, the door opened and a lean figure walked in. He was donned in a black outfit from his shirt, jacket, trousers, and even sneakers.

His jet-black hair was neatly combed back, he wore a simple smile that highlighted his emerald-green eyes.

His looks were quite good, on average, but they couldn't be compared to the people in the hospital room.

Drop.

The girl suddenly dropped her phone to the floor as emotions fluctuated in her brown eyes.

Although Tyler was smiling, a torrent of emotions was washing over him silently as he looked at his family. His mom and dad, though looking tired and depressed, made him feel a boundless sense of joy. He thought that he would never see them again. He had to live 4 years without them and yet here they were, right in front of his eyes.

Seeing Chloe, his heart thumped loudly. He had seen Chloe slowly die day by day. But here she was, young and energetic, although she also looked depressed, Tyler felt a heavy boulder fall off his shoulders as he stared into her wavering eyes that were tearing up.

His mother, Elis, upon seeing Tyler, frantically stood up and hugged him tightly. After a long breath of time, she pulled away and frantically searched his body for injuries.

"Where are you injured? I received a call from the school nurse that you got involved in a fight...I'm sorry I couldn't come....You're...you're dad," Tears were already silently dropping down her pale face, her sentences couldn't come out clearly anymore but she still proceeded to frantically search him. Her emotions were all over the place.

This was a woman who had to deal with losing everything she ever worked for— weak financial status, her son was proclaimed spiritually disabled, her husband was bedridden, and her son was also said to be severely injured at the same time. When he didn't pick up the phone, she was already starting to think of the worst.

When Tyler suddenly showed up, she couldn't even keep her composure as she frantically ran to hug him, fearing that it might be a dream.

Tyler's heart stung but he wore a comforting smile as he held his mother's shoulders,, stopping her frantic motions and speech, "Mom, Relax!"

He pulled her into a hug and spoke softly beside her ear, "I'm fine. You don't have to worry! In fact, I've never been better,"

"T-t...Tyler....." the injured man on the hospital bed had woken up from all the commotion that was happening. His voice sounded hoarse and dry.

Tyler looked up at him and smiled before releasing Elis from his embrace.

He had opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by the man's sudden question, "What happened to your scar?"

It was only now that Elis regained some rationality and seized Tyler's appearance— with each passing second she observed him, a new discovery dawned, shocking her continuously.

Tyler had indeed had a scar on half of his face since he was thirteen which he received from a car accident. At the time, he had taken all kinds of elixirs and potions to remove it but it didn't go away. He could only wait till his spirit awakened for it to disappear, which did not happen in his previous life.

Elis' was shocked to the point she couldn't utter a single word. Her mouth was opened, wanting to say something, but she couldn't utter it.

The scar on Tyler's face had disappeared, and she now realized that Tyler was an entire head taller than her, his body had become a tone thicker with lean muscle, and his black t-shirt was particularly tight around his chest area portraying his developing chest which obviously wasn't there a day before.

It now dawned on her, that his clothes had become a little tight on him. It was like he had undergone an instant growth spurt.

The pimples that plagued him the previous day had disappeared too and his face was as clear and smooth as a baby's.

All these discoveries left her stunned beyond speech!

Chloe on the side who was about to go and scold Tyler as soon as he arrived was already shocked to the point she dropped her precious phone and she hadn't realized it yet.

The whole time, her eyes hadn't left Tyler's foreign figure.

His sudden physical appearance could only mean one thing. But she couldn't bring herself to believe it. She was in constant debate with herself and her emotions were fluctuating frantically as she slowly started to believe it.

"Your Spirit awakened?!" her voice came out as soft as a whisper, a tear consequently falling down one chick, but it was loud enough for everyone to hear.

Tyler calmly smiled, and asked with brow raised, "What? You aren't happy?"

He answered the question with another question but that was all they wanted to know was confirmed. Elis subconsciously covered her mouth with the back of her palm and her gaze frantically wandered around the place as more tears began to fall.
