The New Gamer

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Speech"

'Thoughts'

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki Aoi.

That was the name of the young man that could currently be seen staring at what appeared to be a GUI of sorts in front of his vision in the form of a holographic screen, the male appearing to be standing in what appeared to be a massive highly futuristic city with countless buildings reaching up towards the high heavens.

The male appeared to be around the age of only twelve as he had fair skin along with a lean yet decently sculpted build, having also neat straight crimson red hair along with a pair of beautiful sapphire blue eyes. Despite his rather young age, he would be the definition of what people would consider the word 'handsome' to be.

His attire consisted of a tight red t-shirt along with a pair of tight black pants and white running shoes, also having on a black hooded jacket over the top. Finally, around his neck was a silver thin chain necklace. However, despite all of this, none of that was the most prominent factor that could be considered about the boy.

What would catch anyone's attention the most was his expression. The boy held close to no emotions at all, almost acting as if he was a blank piece of paper of emotion. His eyes were dulled and darkened and his mouth constantly held in a constant straight position without a single twitch of a smile at all as his eyes only blinked every now and then.

The male, while he certainly couldn't be seen doing so, was confused as he had spent the last two minutes or so figuring out his situation. He did remember perishing due to the number of tumours within his cranium, but what had confused him was himself waking up in this new city before being greeted by words that appeared in front of him as of right now

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have died]

[We welcome you to The Gamer]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'The Gamer... how cliche...'

Yuzuki thought inside his mind without changing his expression in the slightest after having read the words as he did recognise what it meant by 'The Gamer'. While his life was indeed a living hell, he did indulge himself in some kind of entertainment to try and distract himself from the rather unpleasant circumstances regarding his life.

That would involve mainly reading books and such, and he had encountered the genre of 'The Gamer' while reading. If memory serves, it involved someone dying and gaining the ability to live the life as if they were a game character. Capable of gaining incredible power due to it, and it seemed as though it had become reality with him.

Turning his attention to the area around him, he saw a number of other people who were looking down as well towards the same screen he was, except each having different information from what he could tell. Perhaps they were all people who had died like he did and were given this second chance, that was most likely the case.

He did remember this place being labelled [The Gamer Hub] when he first awoke here. It was a small message that appeared in front of him stating 'Welcome to The Gamer Hub'.

Yuzuki shook his head a bit before turning his attention back down.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[To begin please think or say 'Status']

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Status.'

Yuzuki had decided to say it in his mind as he really wasn't one to like to talk aloud if he didn't need to, and that wasn't many times in his life. Most of his life, he would usually just keep his mouth shut as he never truly found a purpose of opening it to speak. Well, if there was truly no one to talk to that even wanted to talk to you, what's the point?

If he were to find people that he could actually give his trust to, then he wouldn't mind talking to them. But, he would always usually stay quiet if he has neutral feelings towards someone. If it's an enemy, then it would either be to taunt them into doing something stupid to give him an advantage or for some other purpose.

When Yuzuki thought the command, a new screen appeared.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki just silently read through the information with unblinking eyes as he narrowed them slightly when he read a few details that caused him to clench his fists a bit. It was honestly rare for him to show any signs of anger or agitation when not going under certain procedures when he was in the world of the living prior to this.

While his stats did appear to be decent, though he didn't have a benchmark to say that, his Vitality, Wisdom and Luck were among the highest of his stats. He could understand all of them except one, Wisdom made sense since most of his days would consist of him reading books day in day out to distract himself as much as he could.

Vitality was something that angered him. For whatever reason, let it be a random circumstance, some genetic effect, or the horrible trick of a deity, he had been born with a stronger resilience to damage and pain compared to normal humans. A hit that would normally completely knock someone and caused decent injury out would just leave a small bruise on him.

Why was he angry with it while it sounded like a gift?

Well, that was one main reason as to why the abuse he had gotten tripled more than it normally had been. When his 'family' found out about this trait, they would beat him mercilessly, well, more so than normal. He found the trait more of a curse than he would find it as something any other person would see as a gift.

Aside from that, what the hell was with his luck? His life was anything but lucky! He felt as if the system was playing some kind of cruel joke on him! Yuzuki clenched his fist as a bit of blood came out and a small amount of his health went down in response to it, he couldn't care less though as it royally pissed him off to no end.

Though, his attention was soon brought up to a popup.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[As compensation for unintentionally rudely mocking user]

[You have received 100 extra Status Points]

[You have received 1 Gold Gacha Coin]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki blinked as he relaxed his fists.

Don't get him wrong, he was still angered by the fact of seeing what they were saying about his luck. However, he knew when to be truly angry with someone and when not to. He could see this system didn't intentionally insult him, and they even compensated him for it, so the least he could do was stop being angry.

Though, he did feel a strange sensation going through his mind as if trying to forcefully calm his being down while he was angry. Strangely, while he wasn't angry anymore, he was still feeling the sensation running through him. He just shook it off for now as he turned his attention back down towards his status screen.

He now had a total of 200 Status Points that he could spend, including the ones he had just gotten from the compensation. If he knew correctly, then these were most likely for the different categories at the bottom of the screen. Such being Strength, Speed, Vitality and so on. He needed to think smart as he wasn't going to just full-on dump them into a single category.

He was more of the type of person who liked to balance out what he did.

After thinking for a quick bit, he nodded before allocating the points into the desired categories. It didn't take him long at all as he allocated all 200 points into the categories that he wanted to increase, and when he was done, he nodded with satisfaction.

[Special Points: 40 <+0>] [Wisdom: 50 <+0>] [Luck: 75 <+0>]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

His stats were now rather balanced.

He increased his Special Points as he could instantly figure out what they were going to be used for, and that was things like magic and that. It sounds ridiculous to a normal person if they haven't played a game before, which is him but he had read about things on games so he did have some good knowledge on the subject.

As soon as Yuzuki then closed down the screen, another popup appeared.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Skill Sheet]

Gamer Body: You don't require food, sleep or water to survive. You are capable of also sleeping to replenish health and special points.

Gamer Mind: You are immune to mental effects and any outside interferences that directly affect the mind in any way. You are capable of remaining calm in any situation.

Observe: Grants the ability to read the details and stats of people and/or objects.

Existence Shift: Grants the user to ability to create portals to random worlds. Once a world has been visited, the user can choose to go directly to that particular world if they wish or to go to another world at random.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki went a bit wide-eyed at the last one, though he did remain pretty much unchanged. The whole concept wasn't too hard to believe, the universe is vast, and of course, there might be something beyond even that. The ideas of multiple existences aren't exactly the craziest thing in the world to actually believe.

Same going for the fact that he was now pretty much a game character.

When he read the [Gamer Mind] skill, he now understood what that sensation he kept feeling before was. It was this skill trying to quell his anger. He was always having conflicting emotions of sadness and such due to his life, and it seems that the skill is trying to calm it down constantly. Though, it wasn't really succeeding.

It would appear that not even this system could keep his anger and emotions in check completely.

When he closed down the [Skill Sheet] screen, nothing else appeared to popup, though a new message did suddenly appear after a few seconds.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[If you have any question, please refer to selecting the [Help] option within the [Menu] screen that can be accessed simply by saying or thinking 'Menu']

[We wish you the best of luck]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It seems that's the tutorial done..."

Yuzuki said in a low dead voice as he crossed his arms.

He then remembered something as he opened back up his [Status] screen.

'What are these Gacha Coins?' Yuzuki couldn't help but wonder as he really wasn't sure what the point of them really even was. When he opened us his status, he scrolled down to them before tapping on the small 'i' icon next to it before a new popup appeared next to the [Status] screen with some information on it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Gacha Coins are used to gain different rewards]

[1 Copper Gacha Coin = 1 Copper Roll]

[1 Silver Gacha Coin = 1 Silver Roll]

[1 Gold Gacha Coin = 1 Gold Roll]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'I see, so literally like those gacha machines...'

Yuzuki understood as he read over the small amount of information that was given to him by the system, though the information was more than enough for him to understand their use. It was like those Japanese toy machines that take the money, and you get some form of a reward from it In response to the luck of the draw.

When he looked at the coins that he currently had, he did seem to have a few including the golden one that he had gotten before. That being 2 Copper Gacha Coins, 1 Silver Gacha Coin, and also 1 Gold Gacha Coin. He saw no reason as to not use them so he decided to go ahead and do so as he selected the copper ones first.

It then asked him how many he wanted to use, and thus he just selected all of them as it would just make the process quicker. When he did, the two coins appeared before shattering as a small light appeared in front of him, and when it dispersed, a new popup appeared to him as a bunch of information was given to him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have received $540]

[You have received $460]

[You have received LV1 Enchant Stones x5]

[You have received LV1 SP Stones x6]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Enchant Stones: Can be used to enchant weapons and armour with level 1 enchantments]

[SP Stones: Can be used to replenish Special Points by a small amount]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Yuzuki got ahold of the stones, he quickly clicked on them to see their use as he nodded his head in understanding. The SP Stones were basically mana potions that most magic-based games had for players to replenish their mana, this was just the systems version of that concept in the form of a stone instead of a potion.

The enchant stones basically seemed to allow him to imbue weapons with special attributes, as well as armours too if he ever really needed or wanted to do so. He most likely will at some point when he gets his hands on some form of an enchantment. For now, though, he had no use for them as he then went onto the next coin, the Silver Gacha Coin.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have received $12,200]

[You have received the sword 'Shining Eye']

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Shining Eye: A blade composed of highly durable metal and an incredibly sharp blade capable of cutting even the strongest of steel]

[Class: A] [Type: Sword]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki nodded his head as he looked at the blade that was now in his hand, it was a beautiful looking katana that strangely had a hollowed-out centre area within the blade. It did make the blade feel lighter, but what was the purpose of it? Yuzuki stared at it for a second before nodding, he did see potential in the blade.

It also appeared that weapons were categorised into different classes, most likely based on how powerful they were. With that, he stored it into his inventory as he used the last coin. The Gold Gacha Coin.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have received $280,800]

[You have received the skill book 'The 5 Divine Blades']

[You have received the skill book 'The Dark Arts']

[You have learned the skill 'Ittou Shura']

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[The 5 Divine Blades: A skill book that grants the user the 5 sword skills labelled 'The 5 Divine Blades', a sword style that can't be learnt by others unless through this skill book] [At least 40 Wisdom Required]

[The Dark Arts: A skill book that grants the user 4 random Dark Art skills] [At least 50 Wisdom Required]

[Ittou Shura: A noble art that ignores the prevention of human limitation and the survival instinct to restrain oneself from utilising full strength. Strength and Speed are multiplied by 64 times for a minute, but reduces health down to 5% of your current health afterwards]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'How convenient...'

Yuzuki scoffed slightly as he read the information. He was certainly surprised a bit by the amount of money he had received, a Gold Gacha Coin certainly must be hard to get. However, his attention right now was on the books as it was certainly convenient timing for him to get them, he did just get a sword from the Silver Roll.

When he looked at the last skill that he had just been given, he widened his eyes as the skill was immensely powerful. While it seemed to increase his power immensely, in the physical field at least, it would cost him greatly. The skill was quite a double-edged sword, it pretty much left him vulnerable afterwards.

He did indeed recognise the technique, or Noble Art in this case, it was a skill utilised by the main character of a series called Rakudai or whatever, he wasn't sure. He just knew for a fact that it was ridiculously overpowered, though also ridiculously dangerous with how double-edged the skill really is.

It would be his trump card just in case he has no choice in the matter.

It also appeared that skill books required a certain amount of Wisdom before someone can use them to learn from them, which made sense as he doubted someone with like no intelligence was capable of reading a book to learn. He then selected on the first book as a new menu popped up to him as he read it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[The 5 Divine Blades]

Requirement: 40 Wisdom

Do you wish to learn it?

[Yes] [No]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki selected [Yes]

He definitely would have reconsidered it if it actually took away the points from his Wisdom, though that thankfully wasn't the case in this situation. It just required you to have a set amount of intelligence to learn the skills from the books. If it took away your Wisdom, then that honestly would have been stupid in his opinion.

When he clicked the option another popup happened.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have learned the skill 'The First Divine Blade: Shimmering Steel - Vibrant Flash']

[You have learned the skill 'The Second Divine Blade: Heavenly Peaks - Divine Pillar']

[You have learned the skill 'The Third Divine Blade: Gate of Demons - Scorching Stigma']

[You have learned the skill 'The Fourth Divine Blade: Limits Unbound - Infinity']

[You have learned the skill 'The Final Divine Blade: Arms of the Divine - Judgement']

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki widened his eyes a little as a rush of information suddenly invaded his mind. It was as if all of the skills that were required to know about the skills were entering his mind at once, it didn't hurt at all, but it felt very strange indeed. It was certainly a strange thing to say, but he felt like he had become smarter in an instant.

He was also given information on recharge times for each of these skills, it appeared that skills such as attacks and that required a certain amount of time before they can be used again after the first. It made sense for it to be like that as the person would just be able to spam them constantly. Adding to that, he also got information on the amount of SP required for each.

Each of them were varied, it appeared that each blade, going from the first to the final one was weakest to strongest technique. The weakest obviously requiring the least amount of SP and having the shortest recharge time, and with the strongest skill having the opposite of that. It made complete sense for it to be like that.

Aside from that, Yuzuki then decided to use the next book, which went through the same procedure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[You have learned the skill 'Level 5 Dark Art: Black Gehenna']

[You have learned the skill 'Level 8 Dark Art: Thunderstorm Helix']

[You have learned the skill 'Level 13 Dark Art: Cocytus']

[You have learned the skill 'Level 13 Dark Art: Ouroboros']

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Very useful...'

Yuzuki couldn't help but think as he felt the information flood like a river into his mind, all the power that the spells held. The SP required was apparently dependant on him, the more SP he put into the attack, the more powerful it will become. At least he didn't need to worry about not being able to use the spell due to not having enough SP points.

Also, he did recognise the names of these spells before. If he was correct, he read a manga of the series. He couldn't quite remember the name of it, but it did have 'World Break' in the name if he remembered correctly. These were spells that belonged to the main character of the series, Moroha if he was remembering correctly.

He nodded his head in satisfaction before closing down the screen as he looked around at his surroundings. He noticed there were still a number of people who assumed were also gifted with The Gamer as this was The Gamer Hub, he could instantly tell the new ones from the more experienced ones.

Some had full-on suits of armour or something similar to that, some not even being of the human race, and so much more too like pets. He honestly had no intention of ever becoming something else other than a human, even if it makes him stronger. He wanted to stay true to what he was, and that was a human being.

Now, he needed to decide his next course of action. Of course, he was definitely going to be exploring this hub at some point, but that could come at a later date. He wanted to test something. Actually, two things. First was his new skills, and the second was the [Existence Shift] skill of his, he wanted to see just what kind of worlds he would end up going to.

'Existence Shift.' Yuzuki mentally stated as he could feel the skill activating. He then saw a popup appear in front of him in response to the activation of the skill.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Existence Shift]

Select which world to go to

[Random]

[---------]

[---------]

[---------]

...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yuzuki could easily see that the blank options were for the worlds that he had already visited, which were none yet as he had yet to visit any other worlds. So, it was understandable as to why they were blank. The only option he had was the [Random] option. So, of course, he tapped onto it as the menu soon closed down.

He then heard a strange sound and looked up to see some kind of tear in the space in front of him, which soon expanded before easily being twice the size of himself. He stared at it with his dull eyes for a second before shrugging as he began walking through the portal.

If you have any suggestions to what worlds he should visit, I'll be happy to hear them!
