The aircraft took off after everyone had boarded it. Its speed was blisteringly fast as it sped away from Willow City, heading to the next city to pick up its next batch of recruits. There was only one more city that it had to stop at in order to meet its quota before returning to headquarters.
The recruits that had been picked up had been assigned temporary living quarters that would last until the aircraft reached headquarters, which would not be for another day.
The recruits had been paired up into groups of four. They were assigned a large living quarter that was split into four smaller rooms, and a single large living area. The aircraft was large enough to support such a lavish living style. Black Gold did not mince on money hen it came to their potential powerhouses.
Rowan, Dustin, and Ben had been put together in one living quarters, but they were surprised by their last living mate. It was a girl.
"Hello, my name is Amelia Hardman. I hope we can get along during our stay together." The girl, Amelia, said as she greeted the three boys. Unlike the boys, Amelia was not a Drubad. She was a human, one of f the major races that permeated through the universe. She smiled sweetly at the boys.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you. I'm Rowan."
"I'm Dustin."
"I'm Ben."
The three boys introduced themselves in a similar fashion. They also hoped to get along with Amelia. After exchanging pleasantries, the four of them retreated to their rooms.
As Rowan entered his room, he made his way over to the bed and laid down to think.
"I've made it this far. Uncle Freeman said he will provide me the best geno solution that he can to make sure I can become a Baron, but even then, it is not a 100 percent chance that I will be able to successfully advance." Rowan thought about how he would go from here on out.
Getting a job was already taken care of if he managed to become a Baron, so he did not have to worry about that.
Money was also not a problem. Ever since his father had vanished, Uncle Freeman had provided support to their family, and with Eric being a strong Baron, he was also able to earn enough to send home every month. Even with Eric getting paid, Uncle Freeman had never stopped showering them with monetary support. Rowan was grateful for it all.
An hour passed by in relative peace before Rowan left his room again. Gathered in the living area of the room were his three housemates.
"Glad you could join us! We were just about to head over to the meeting area where the other recruits from Willow City are gathering. The recruits from Gold City will soon board the aircraft." Dustin gave his signature grin as he welcomed Rowan.
"Oh, well let's head out then." Rowan shrugged and the four of them made their way out of their quarters. The moment they stepped out, they were greeted by a hub of activity as the other recruits from Willow City mingled about, getting to know each other.
Everyone there was from Willow City, so they had a lot of things to share amongst each other.
"Amie!" A girl came running over and embraced Amelia with visible joy. Amelia was also happy to see her and returned the hug happily.
"I thought we were going to be put together, but the matching system mixed us up. Where are your housemates?" The girl asked, turning to look behind Amelia.
"Here they are. This is Dustin, Ben, and Rowan." Amelia laughed and introduced her friend to the three boys. "Guys, this is my best friend, Sharon. I hope you can get along with her, even if she can be a bit annoying at times."
"Boys? The system paired you with boys?" Sharon looked visibly shocked, and forgot all her manners. She quickly shook her head though, and greeted the three.
"Hi, I hope you can take care of Amelia for me." Sharon nodded seriously at them as she examined them. Unlike Amelia, Sharon was a Drubad. Her pointy ears stuck out of the side of her cascading jet black hair that hung off her shoulders.
"We will." Rowan answered seriously. He understood Sharon's worry. A beautiful girl like Amelia having to share a living space with four growing boys that were good enough to get scouted by a top tier organization like Black Gold.
Before leaving, Lena had specifically warned Rowan to be careful with the ladies he would work with. While she still expected a daughter-in-law, she did not want girls carrying her son's babies like they were the grains of sand on a beach.
Rowan was pure of mind, and intended to listen to his mother's warnings. Because of that, he made a vow to treat all the ladies he came across with the respect that they were due.
"Alright, great!" Sharon beamed upon receiving the confirmation that she wanted. "Come on, the cafeteria is serving some pretty nice dishes." Like that, the five of them went over to meet Sharon's roommates before heading to the canteen.
Sharon's roommates were all girls, and they were not too close with Sharon. They had their own circle of friends that had managed to make the cut, so after talking a bit with Sharon, they walked off to do their own thing.
Ding!
<We will be landing at Gold City's airport in five minutes. Make sure you are buckled up for any possible turbulence.>
An announcement came from the speakers of the aircraft as the five of them were eating. They exchanged a look amongst themselves before finishing up and returning to their rooms.
"I'll see you guys later, okay?" Sharon said as she exchanged a hug with Amelia.
"Alright, see you later. Probably when we get to Black Gold. I need to catch up on some sleep before the hard times will set in." Amelia smiled and waved her friend away.
After that, she went to her room to lay down. The boys also returned to their various rooms to rest.
