Boxing match of the century

"You too huh?" hiccup asked nervously as the monstrous nightmare pulled itself to its full height, which was of course around three times that of hiccups

"Run!" Delvin yelled as he pushed hiccup behind him and thrust forward with his halberd, aiming for the "sleep nerve"

He might not be an expert on the species of Monstruos nightmares but thanks to Snap-pine's good work at capturing what Delvin asked him to, Delvin had some amount of experience tangling with the flaming basterds and knew very well that they had a small cluster of nerves under their chin which could knock them out if touched

So when placed in a situation where he had to protect someone who was both his friend and the son of his chief he was hardly going to hold back on the dragon responsible

Jumping forward with his good foot he spun his halberd, using the weight of the axe head to push the butt of the spear upwards with some serious speed and he was about to knock the beast out when he was hit in the chest by its tail, sending him flying beside the already running hiccup

"You okay!?" hiccup yelled worriedly as his friend literally shot past him like a cannonball

"All good" Delvin coughed back, struggling to breathe. when he landed he allowed himself to roll backward and back onto his feet and seeing the giant lizard running towards him he slammed the butt of his spear into the dirt behind him

Let the beast impale itself upon him, it would be annoying to clean up the blood but what can you do?

However to his surprise instead of slamming into him and by extension his halberd the beast ran right past him, ignoring him like a leaf in the breeze as it ran after easier prey

Hiccup

"Oh come on!" Delvin couldnt help but complain as he stood back up and began to chase the dragon "he doesn't even have any meat on him in the first place!"

Only in Berk could you see a boy get chased by a dragon while another boy chased the dragon.

Trying to ignore the pain in his bad leg, Delvin chased after the monstrous nightmare, keeping hot on its tail as it scampered after the screaming Hiccup who was lucky to dodge every fire breath it sent at him

Eventually, Hiccup decided the best choice of action was to hide behind one of the giant torch towers, attempting to hide, which might have worked if he did it in front of the dragon's eyes.

And as it sent a wave of fire into the wooden beam which hiccup was taking shelter behind Delvin was able to catch up, throwing his halberd towards the beast's wing and impaling it there. And as the beast roared in pain, turning its head towards Delvin with a snarl it was hit by what could only be described as a double kick from thor himself

Only in berk can a man see a dragon get punched in the face by an angry ginger.

Stoick had arrived. And he did not look happy

What then transpired had to be considered to be one of the greatest moments of Delvin's life as he and Stoick encircled the dragon. Stoick watched as the dragon attempted to breathe fire towards him, only to come up dry, its charges spent on hiccup

"You're all out" he responded darkly before charging forward. Stoick began throwing punches, right after left, each one leaving the dragon clawing for its senses. It eventually tried to fly away but Delvin jumped onto the same wing that had been pierced by his halberd, slamming it into the stone pavement and holding the dragon in place

A few seconds later men with ropes and chains arrived, capturing the beast

And once the dust had settled Delvin turned Stoick, giving him a nod "chief"

"Delvin" Stoick responded in kind before turning to the now crumbling tower that sheltered his son

And then in a glorious act of bad luck, the base of the tower crumbled revealing an awkward-looking Hiccup as the blazing tower fell, slamming into the stairs of the hill and the circular top began to roll away, slamming into multiple Vikings and then finally into the net that had been holding down nearly a dozen Nadders and Gronkled, freeing them to take the surrounding sheep

Delvin hadn't seen Hiccup cringe so much since Stoick told him about the birds and the bees

"…Sorry…Dad" Hiccup apologies looking toward all the freed dragons with a face full of shame and not meeting Stoick's eyes "... Okay but i hit a Nightfury" he offered, acting as if that made things all better and causing Delvin to put a hand to his forehead

"You guys were busy and i had a very clear shot, it fell just off ravens point, lets's send a search party and-"

"STOP!" Stoick yelled, shutting hiccup up "…Just stop

From there the conversation just turned to the usual argument so Delvin just went over and sat down with the rest of the fire team, giving Astrid a smirk because he had now caught a monstrous nightmare before she had killed her first dragon which earned him a punch in the arm

From there Stoick gave hiccup the usual lecture about how he always causes these sorts of messes, which was kind of unfair seeing as hiccup had actually shot down the nightfury and that he was trying to ensure the village stayed fed through winter

Either way, stoick was pissed and hiccup was clearly way too stubborn to care, he got from his father.

"That was quite the performance," Tuffnut told hiccup as he walked past, which knowing the twins' personality was likely a genuine compliment on the mess he made

And of course, Snotlout did the usual "I've never seen someone mess up that badly, that helped!" which got him knocked over indifferent by Gobber and caused Delvin to "accidentally" drop his halberd dangerously close to his crotch

Either way the day had begun and it was time for Delvin to go visit Snap-Pine

He didn't even notice that someone else had also entered the forest, searching for a dragon of their own
