Homecoming weekend

Homecoming weekend was coming. It’s not like any of us were looking forward to it. With everything going on, everything was wearing on us. With the boys losing their grandfather and the lawsuit, everything was a mess.
After much convincing, we went. Who knows? It might take our minds off things.
The girls and I shopped and bought dresses while the boys got their suits. I wanted one night of fun. Is that too much to ask? For everyone else, it was.

On the night of homecoming, I was feeling anxious.
/"Relax, let’s have a wonderful time,/" Nash told me.
/"Okay./" I took a deep breath and exhaled as Nash led me onto the dance floor. He took me in his arms, and we started dancing. As we danced, we were enjoying ourselves when someone yelled. We turned as a girl charged towards us.
/"Oh, hell, no!/" Nixon ran over to the girl and grabbed her.
/"Get your hands off me, turd!/"
