They stared into each other's eyes. Both getting drunk on the sight of the other.

"Can we go inside?" Penemue asked as Nikola looked at him. When the former emperor saw blue eyes instead of reddish-brown, he smiled faintly.

He led his lover into the house and then inside his bedroom, where Penemue laid them on the bed. Nikola had just about enough time to place the candle on the bedside table when his head was placed on Wei Caihong's chest, and an arm enveloped his waist.

"You married him. You found your soulmate despite all I did to hide the knowledge of him from you," Nikola looked up but only saw Wei Caihong's chin. He endeavored to prop himself on his elbow, but the arm around his middle tightened.

So, he made himself comfortable instead.

"Had I known I had a soulmate waiting for me…but Wei Caihong wasn't even born back then. There was no way for me to survive until I met him without you. And the price you made me pay was…"
