Poisoned

Xavier sat in his study room, thinking about Vale and their encounter six months ago.

FLASHBACK

Xavier went to the beach in the afternoon.

The reason why he went to the beach this time is to hide from his grandmother. His matchmaker.

He was strolling along the beach when he saw a person lying unconscious on the beach.

He strode towards the person and was shocked when he saw a familiar face and figure.

He felt like he had met this person before, but he was not sure.

The woman’s face had turned pale, and her lips had turned blue. Even her skin had turned cold.

What shocked him the most is the dried blood on her back. There was a long cut on her left shoulder blade.

“Hey! Wake up!” He patted her cheek gently, trying to wake her up.

However, there was no response.

Only a few people were living in the villas near the beach. Most of the villa was private property and owned by a prestigious person.

The hospital is far from the beach.

So, he decided to take him to his villa.

After he put the woman on his bed, he immediately called for his private doctor to come to his villa.

A few minutes before the doctor arrives, Vale woke up.

Xavier thought that her skin is too cold and decided to cover her with a thick blanket to warm her up.

However, it made Vale sweat a lot and made her felt hot.

She woke up for she felt uncomfortable.

She saw a black glove in front of her the moment she opens her eyes.

“Water...” she asked hoarsely.

Xavier reached for the glass of water on the nightstand and sat on the bedside. He helped her up before giving her the glass of water.

Her hands tremble when she reaches for the glass of water. Xavier’s cover her hands with his own to stop her trembling hand from spilling the water on her clothes.

“How do you feel?” Xavier asked and put the empty glass away when she finished the drink.

When she heard the familiar voice, she looked up with shock on her face.

“Xa...Xavier?”

It was too late when she said it.

Xavier looked down on the woman who was leaning on his embrace.

Even when she woke up, her pale features did not change.

Now, the skin below her eyes was even slightly turning black.

“You know me?” he asked back.

He looked at her with his hawk eyes.

Not everyone knows of his existence. Even if he is a CEO and also a gang leader, not many people know him.

“You didn’t recognize me?” Vale asked with a forced smile on her face.

Xavier went silent. He had roughly guessed who she was, but he still had some doubt in his heart.

“Miss T?”

Vale raised her eyebrows. She didn’t expect that he would guess correctly.

“Mmn...You can call me Vale.”

Xavier glanced at her with surprise on his face.

“Why are you here? What happened?” Xavier asked.

When Vale heard this question, her body stiffens before she lowered her head.

“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” Xavier said when he saw the pain and sadness on her eyes.

He immediately understood that it was something personal.

But, what about the wound on her back?

“Thank you.” Vale said gratefully.

She looked around the room.

“Is this your house?” she asked.

“This is my villa. I saw you on the beach and brought you here.” Xavier said.

“Thank you.”

Xavier’s mouth curled up, “How many times will you thank me?”

Vale gave him a look.

She realized that she was still leaning on Xavier’s body.

Her gaze flickered, feeling awkward.

She removes the blanket that was still covering her and try to get down from the bed.

However, she realized that her body is truly weak. She could only lean on Xavier when she tried to get up.

But, the moment she got up, her body went numb, and her head went dizzy.

“Vale!”

When she regained her composure, Xavier was looking at her with concern in his eyes.

She looked down on the floor and saw a splatter of blood—a warm liquid flow below her lips.

She wiped it unconsciously and was stunned when she saw the blood on her palms.

Xavier frowned.

He pushed her to sat back on the bed and grabbed her fingers.

Her nails had turned black.

Vale’s heart thumped.

What’s happening? She was fine when she leaves Keith mansion.

“What actually happened to you?” Xavier couldn’t help asking.

At the same time, there was a knock on the door.

“Sir, the private doctor is here.”

The one who spoked was one of the maids who worked at his villa.

“Let him in,” he ordered.

The door of his bedroom was opened, and a man walks in, panting. He was carrying a medical kit on his left hand.

He looked at Xavier with a slight displeased on his eyes. Who would know the grievance in his heart?

Just now, Xavier called him and said that he has to appear within 5 minutes at the Private Blue Villa.

5 minutes!

He was dressing up for his dates when he received Xavier’s call. Moreover, the address that he sent to him was far away from his home, and it would take him at least half an hour to get there by car.

Pursing his lips, he strode in further into the room and immediately got into his role as a doctor.

He looked at the woman on the bed and raised his eyebrows slightly.

Is his master concerned with this woman?

He mused over while checking on Vale.

“How is she?” Xavier asked impatiently.

Nicholas grumbled in his heart before he answered him, “She’s poisoned, and on top of that, she has a fever. I could giver her a prescription for the fever. However...” he stopped, frowning as he looked at her darkening eyes and nails.

“What is it?” Vale asked nervously.

Nicholas sighed, “I’ve never seen this kind of poison before. You’ve been poisoned for hours. Even if we try to clean your blood, some of it will still remain inside of you and could trigger a dangerous disease.”

“Anything else?” Xavier asked.

“Well, if you can’t find the antidote in 6 hours after you consumed the poison, the situation might turn...critical,”

Vale counted in her head, she had consumed the poison for 4 hours.

Her heart thumped as her panic sets in.

No! She can’t die! Not yet! She had to take revenge on Keith and Sherry!
