The Antidote

“Xavier, I need to call my brothers.” Vale looked up at him.

Xavier pulled his phone out of his pants pocket and gave it to her.

Fortunately, Vale still remembers Mason’s phone number.

She pressed the dial button and waited for him to pick up.

“Hello?” Mason’s voice rang through the phone.

“Thank god you pick up!” Vale exhaled in relief.

“Nana? Is that you? Why-” Vale cut him off.

“Mason, I need your help. I think I’ve been poisoned.”

“What?! Where are you now?”

“I’m at the Private Blue Villa.”

“Are you alone?”

“No. My friend is here.”

“Good. I’ll be there in a second.” He ended the call.

Vale returned the phone to Xavier.

“Thanks again.” she smiled.

Xavier’s hand reach out to knock her head gently.

“Why are you thanking me again? Your life is in danger, and you still have the guts to smile?” Xavier said disapprovingly.

“Yes, yes. I’m wrong.” Vale nodded her head, but her pale lips still arch up.

Xavier had ordered Nicholas to go back first.

Not long after, they heard the roar of a dozen cars outside the villa.

A knock rang out, and Xavier got up from his chair to open the door.

Mason, Peter and a few white-coated people walk into the room.

Vale’s eyes went wide in surprise when she noticed Jenny among them.

The latter was also surprised when she saw her.

Obviously, her brothers had sent words to gathered all of the professional doctors to treat her.

All of them did not delay anytime and immediately went to work.

After checking on her, all of them had a frown in their faces.

This...this kind of poisoned...they have never seen it in their entire life.

Noticing the frown on the doctors’ faces, Peter grabbed one of them and asked, “How is it? Can you cure her?”

“We’ve never seen this kind of poisoned before. Her conditions are turning critical. We could try removing the poisoned from her body by taking out her poisoned blood. However...” the young doctor sighed.

Peter was agitated. He grabbed the man’s collar aggressively.

“Speak!”

“It’s been hours since she was poisoned. The poison must’ve spread all over her body by now and...if the poisoned reach her heart...” Jenny spoke up, seeing that the young doctor was trembling all over his body and couldn’t bring himself to speak.

Peter let go of the young doctor and fumed at Jenny.

“Are you trying to tell me that there’s nothing I could do except waiting for her to die?! Do you know who she is?!” Peter roared.

“Peter!” Vale shouted.

Peter soften his look and immediately approach her.

Mason waved his hand at the doctors indicating them to leave.

“Jenny, wait!”

Jenny turned around and approached her. Vale made a gesture for her to get closer.

Jenny bent down as Vale whispered something in her ear. Her eyes flashed before she nodded in understanding and turned around to leave.

Noticing that the siblings had some matter to talk about, Xavier also walked out of his room.

Leaving the three of them inside.

“What did you tell her?” Mason asked as he stands beside Peter.

Vale looked up and smiled, “Nothing.”

She looked down on her hands which is continuously being rubbed by Peter. His face had turned gloomy. No matter how hard he rubbed at her dark fingertips, there were no changes.

“How did you get poisoned in the first place?” Peter grumbled, but Vale could sense the melancholy in his voice.

Vale tense up as her eyes flashed for a second. It seems like she had no other choice this time.

She needs her brothers to help her.

“Sherry attacked me with a poisonous blade.”

“Sherry?” Peter asked.

Vale sneered, “Kyle’s pursuer and the daughter of Lint River.”

She didn’t tell them about her break up with Keith.

Mason frowned, “Did Kyle know about this?”

“No. There’s no need to involve him.” Vale shakes her head.

“How did you know she’s Lint River’s daughter?” Peter looked at her with doubt.

“Well, it’s a long story, and I know her from...my connections.”

She expected them to ask more questions but was surprised when they look at her silently.

“Alright. We’ll talk about this later. We need to get the antidote first.” Mason said as he walks towards the door followed by Peter.

After they left, Xavier came in and sat on the chair beside the bed.

“Your brothers are terrifying.” He stated the moment she sat down.

Vale’s mouth curled up.

Indeed, her brothers have a dominating power around them, and no ordinary person could stand the pressure they’re giving.

Vale had gotten used to it for a while. However, it still gives her a chill in the back whenever she thought about it.

“Mmn...” she nodded.

“I don’t mean to dig around but...did they know about you...being in a ...gang?” Xavier asked.

Vale stiffens for a second.

“Not yet. But, I’m assuming they’re already asking someone to search me up right now.” she shrugged.

She believes that as long as Keith didn’t tell them, they will never found out about her.

They can’t found out about what had happened to her. Not yet.

“Are you hungry? I’ll ask the maid to bring the food now if you are.” Xavier asked.

Vale smiled before teasing him, “My, my. You’re caring for me.”

Xavier’s ears turn red when he heard this.

He coughed, trying to hide his embarrassment.

“What are you saying? I’m just afraid that your brother will come knocking at my door for not treating you well.”

“Ooh! So, you’re trying to curry favour with my brothers. Hmm, interesting.” Vale’s eyes glinted.

“What nonsense are you speaking? If you’re not hungry, then I’ll go down to eat first.” Xavier couldn’t stand her teasing anymore and stand up.

Vale pursed her lips. Yes, this might be her last meal.

“I’m hungry.”

Xavier raises an eyebrow in surprise.

“What do you want to eat?”

“Fish soup, fried prawn, chocolate cake, spicy noodles, fishtail, ice cream, barbequed meat, honey chicken, bamboo rice, sour cabbage....” Vale listed all of the food she wanted to eat.

Xavier listened to her demand with a dumbfounded look. Why did he ask if she wants to eat?

He went down to the kitchen in an aggrieved manner. He told the maid of the list of food that Vale asked for. He glanced at the watermelon honey that has been cut on the plate.

He decided to bring it up to his room.

Unknown to him, the maid already made a call to his grandmother to report of his activity.
