The fruit that changed everything

James is an ordinary kid in an ordinary village. But all of that changes when he is seven. James has never known that his dad was a pirate. And by the marine law. 'If a man is found on a pirate vessel not shackled by the wrists or ankles he shall be found guilty as a pirate.' James has no idea but he's a pirate and he's about to find that out.

Tough kid

(POV change to Johan's perspective.)

"Sir we're coming up on the island." Morris says.

"Great! How much longer until we make it?" I ask

"At least an hour sir but with the broken mast it might take longer.."

"We don't have time." I say.

"We can get rowers to help but I wouldn't be surprised if the row sector is destroyed." Morris says.

"Maybe but nearly all our men are injured."

"I want these people alive as much as you do but in order to do that we have to get to the island as fast as we can." Morris said. "If we can't get these people to the hospital they will die."

"Your right." I say as I walk away to the door of the helm. I look around to see people scrambling around with the spare wood and nails. "I need at least 10 uninjured people to help row and get to the island faster. Immediately Philip comes up to me.

"I can do it sir. And now with my strength you only need 8 people." Philip says. After that two more men came up and said they will do it. Then James came and said he would too.

"No James your feet are hurt." I say James looks heartbroken but determined to row it.

"You don't even use your feet to row something." He says.

"James that's rowing a canoe this is a 300 ton ship."

"I CAN STILL DO IT!" He screams and tears are starting to flood his eyes.

"Fine. But you can't quit or complain when you get tired or your feet start hurting." I say ruffling his hair. The tears vanish and a smile comes to his face. I get 5 more people but that's all there is. We walk down to the rowing section and the men start rowing. 'Dang James hasn't complained or shown any signs of pain since he started.' I think. 'Tough kid.'
